Once C19 hit in 2020 really wanted to better support small local businesses vs the big box providers who do little for the community. Researched tires for my wife's Toureg, took quote into Cain's asking if they would price match and Cain's beat the price and scheduled install for next day. Easy install in about an hour, with a bonus of walking down the block for lunch at Sabor A Mexico and amazing street tacos!!! Amazing service!! I called to get a quote for 2 tires for my car and received an excellent quote on Michelin, I also asked about other tires and prices and Jason gave me excellent prices for a couple more. The price on Michelin was the best in Marin, I had checked 4 other places that supposedly had a good price so went with Cains. The tires came the next day, Jason accommodated my schedule changing it a few time based on my request and got the job done extremely fast. I called Cains, a tire shop I've been going to for 40 years, and spoke to Jason, who worked out a selection for my good, cheap dilemma! I drove in at my appointed time.....and found this was not the crowded, confusing place of yore! No problem parking, immediately met with Jason who took the keys and told me1.5 hours. I settled down on the comfy sofa, opened up my book, and what seemed like next to no time I was called! That was actually only about 1 hour for 4 new tires, balanced, pressures registering in car, which was waiting on the forecour! I'm writing this review on behalf of my partner who is currently without a functioning vehicle because of a "deal" he was given on 4 tires and rims for his truck. About a week ago, he went in to see if he could order new tires for his very large 4x4 truck that has an oversized suspension and very large tires/rims. He was offered 4 tires with accompanying rims for a very reasonable price (too good to be true) that were guaranteed to fit his large truck. He had the tires and rims installed. Within minutes after driving away from Cain's, my partner was heading home when several people flagged him down to notify him that the rear tire was "about to fall off". The new tire installed on the left rear had come loose and taken the wheel bearing plus the seal to the axle (spraying gear fluid everywhere). He barely made it home. My partner spent the greater part of the weekend replacing the bearing and sealing the axle. When he put the new tire back on he realized the tire was not the correct size and carefully drove the truck slowly back to the shop to have the correct tires installed. When contacted to remedy the situation, the manager (or owner?) started that they would remedy the issue. Instead, he passed off the job to a worker who attempted to balance the tires, which alleviated the issue for only a few minutes before the seal broke again to the axle and the tire began wobbling uncontrollably. When asked what they did to "fix" the issue, they said they couldn't do the work. The lack of customer service to remedy this unsafe situation is disturbing. The fact that a tire tech didn't inspect or even balance the tires before allowing the truck to leave the shop is unconscionable. Nor when asked to remedy the problem they said that "they don't do that here" (whatever that means)... A reasonable business would at least refer a different shop to assist get the job done. Also, they would warn the vehicle owner of the safety concerns regarding the rear axle. read more

Big thanks to Keith today for the help. I called right when they opened this morning to identify the stock of the tires I wanted for my t4r. Brought my car in as the tires were coming off the delivery truck after lunch. Tires installed, balanced, alignment completed in about 2.5 hours. Brownie points for putting my bottle jack and tools back into the compartment and remounting my spare! Second time purchasing a full set of tires from Cains in 5 years and both times were this convenient. read more

Disappointed! I came in for some tire sensor replacement and I had to make 3 more trips after that before they figured out that the person that set the sensor had set it wrong so it kept showing that it was not working. I was happy that I was given a small discount for my many trips back to the shop. I found out that Costco only charges $260 and Cains charged me $500. My fault I guess for not shopping around first. read more

My teenage son and friends are about to take a road trip, and I was concerned about the condition of the tires. Went here in January to patch a punctured tire. They were supposed to call me when they finished. I called back around 3, they said they were closing (it was Sunday) i get my tire and drive on it and it has a bad vibration at freeway speed, they didn't balance the tire. I go back the next day to get it balanced, they're too busy to fix their mistake , come back another time they said. I went to their brake annex to see if they could do it. The guy there says the tires aren't good he wont do it which contradicts the main shop patching it the day before. I told him Ive been working on cars before he was born, the tire is fine. It would literally take 10 minutes to fix what should have been done in the first place not to mention the fact I have bought tires from them before. These guys are rude incompetent clowns, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. We were on our way to a wedding in SF when we got a flat tire on hwy 101. I found this shop on Google and it was the closest one to us. I was quoted 1 hour for the tire replacement over the phone. When we arrived, the staff were so quick to assist us. When we told them about our situation, they were very empathetic about it. The tire replacement only took 15 minutes!
