This place is awesome and horrible at the same time. Boiled crawfish were awesome, I'm from South Louisiana and this is a great compliment, I got 5 lbs of spicy Cajun and they were cooked perfect. The horrible part is the service. After sitting 10 mins at a 1/2 empty bar I had to get up and get someone's attention for a beer. I would do this place all over again for one thing: the food. That's what it all comes down to at the end of the day, and this place is definitely satisfying people's appetites. Ambiance is poor and they are low on waitstaff but the girl that waited on us did a great job after we finally got seated. And I was actually surprised for a place like that to have such clean bathrooms. Not everyone can keep up with bathrooms, so kudos to Cajun craven. First time customer, the waiter not friendly at all, sat us on a corner, the place was not pleasant looking, restroom without paper towel. Waiters paying attention to other things rather than to be attentive with customers. When placing the other , we were not informed the shrimps ordered were with heads an brought in a bag.. When we look at shrimps they looked horrible and told the waiter we did not want them. Waiter said no refund that we would have to pay it no matter what. There was no manager or anyone that can resolve this matter. Requested the check and took the bag of shrimp an tossed them in front of the entrance of their trash can. Crawfish isn't good. And parking sucks. Just don't go. You'll end up mid way done with your food and you'll have to get up and move your car before it gets towed. They're parking lot is so small that you HAVE no where else to park but next door which is good year. And apparently you can't park there the owner calls the tow trucks... just do your self a favor. If I could rate this a negative (-1) I would. Cajun Craven has been one of my favorite crawfish spots during crawfish season and out-of-season but recently I had one of the worst experiences. Let's talk about the staff, there are a few who actually give good service and care while the other ones' think they can just do whatever they want. And if they are trained as such then that's horrible service. I came in excited and wanting to get crawfish. Mind you, this was around 8-9pm on a week-day evening. It wasn't too busy but it was crowded because of the small building. I went to the register and placed my order with a guy named "Elijah" (A guy who was fare skin, tall, and curly hair) I always give a tip because I understand how it works. He asked for my receipt and I responded, "Yeah." When the crawfish was ordered it was 9:46pm. I remember because of the receipt. People who came in after me, I'm talking about (2-4) people who also placed a Togo order got there food before me. There is no way in hell that could've happened unless the person who took my order has something against me and said something to the kitchen. I waited approximately 45 minutes for my crawfish. They were confused as well as to why they saw me still there. I will never go back there. That is ridiculous and I wouldn't want that to happen upon anyone else. He shouldn't even be working there anymore. I hoped this review helped because I sure had a bad experience for a place that I love to go to. read more

This place was not as fabulous as the reviews. We are crawfish connoisseurs and this place didn't deliver. The crawfish were gritty and lacked a lot of spice. In their defense, we have the ultimate boil recipe and we have perfected the technique in boiling crawfish so, we compare other restaurants crawfish to ours. I ordered the boiled shrimp and they serve it with the heads on which made for a lot more work peeling them and the spice on them was pretty mild. This restaurant is owned and operated by a Vietnamese man so, when I ordered the Vietnamese egg rolls I expected them to be served with lettuce leaves to wrap the egg roll in and all we got was a tiny torn piece of lettuce for 3 egg rolls. I was also disappointed that the ranch dressing I ordered with my salad was from a bottle. I know the difference between homemade ranch and the bottle. On the flip side, this is a great place to buy live crawfish for your own boil. Typically they are cheaper than HEB and other grocers and the crawfish tend to be bigger than those at the grocery stores. read more

We found this place last weekend after returning from a bike ride and yelping a restaurant nearby. It is a hidden gem. Parking is limited and service is not five star....but you're paying good prices for quality seafood. We had multiple servers helping and refilling drinks...asking if we were happy...and checking up on us. The crawfish were nicely sized, the jumbo shrimp were huge, and poboy was warm and delicious. If you're looking for a low key spot with quality food, this place is perfect. One of the nastiest places i've ever been to. Their sauce was nasty and tasteless, the crawfish had no seasoning what's so ever and it didn't go well with the sauce. Cajun Craven sauce was disappoint it was a nasty consistency and it was sweet, and the service was absolutely terrible, the server did not make eye contact and was clearly annoyed and wanted to go home. The crawfish here is really good, but only during crawfish season! We usually order the craven style crawfish, which is a buttery/garlic type of flavor. As an appetizer, I recommend the shrimp diablo, which are jalapenos wrapped with bacon and shrimp. They're soooo good! The only downfalls about this place, is the parking and wait time. There's hardly ever any parking available and I've heard about people getting towed if they park next door at Goodyear. Also, forget about going there during the weekend or for dinner, unless you have lots of time to kill:) They're always super crowded! What I've been doing is ordering over the phone and picking it up. I suggest taking someone with you so they can drop you off in the front since they'll be no parking nearby. read more

Let me just start by saying: crab toast. I give the crab toast 5 stars (especially for being only $3) and I get it every time I go. It's creamy, herby, toasty, a little lemony and cheesy... it's so delicious! They also have really tasty hushpuppies, which have little flecks of onion and jalapeno in them. The gumbo is good, with a medium spiciness to it, and filled with lots of sausage, shredded beef, shrimp and crawfish. It's nice and thick too (I don't care for thin, soupy gumbo). The crawfish etouffee is also very good. Overall I rate four stars because of some lack of consistency. Once I got a bunch of matted up rice in my etouffee which had gotten a bit hard; obviously they were scraping the bottom. I'm happy to say that was a one time occurrence out of *many* visits, and it was quite a while back. Sometimes the hushpuppies seem like they're either a different recipe, or not cooked as long, but something is different about them. Suffice it to say that I go there at least once a week, so it's very good. This place is a strong four stars overall. read more
