Overrated honestly. The food is pretty expensive when you take into account other places you could go to get the same (or better) food for cheaper without having to wait for a table. I've never understood why Cajun is so crowded/seemingly everyone's go to breakfast spot on the weekends. Their breakfast is good, but specialty dishes like the jambalaya or shrimp & grits don't stand out at all. Service and atmosphere, no complaints. Service is fast, food is delicious, what more can you ask for? On a Friday morning, the place was packed but my friends and I only had to wait about 10 minutes to get a table outside. We all ordered the French Quarter Omelette which is filled with cheese, hot sausage, mushroom, and avocado. It also includes a side of bread with a choice between wheat, white, sourdough, and biscuit (served with regular butter and apple butter!). Service is fast and we got our food in less than 15 minutes. I was surprised to hear at all that the Santa Barbara area has good food. My friends told me this was a decent restaurant, so we went here for lunch. I got the Abrego omelette and shared an order of beignets. Although the omelette was good (hot links, avocado, cheese), I couldn't help but think the entire time that I could make it at home. It's literally a bunch of Costco hot links with avocado and cheddar cheese in an omelette. $13 for that? Okay. The beignets, which people say are to DIE FOR, are pretty good. The beignets I had my life are all big and airy, but these were nicely dense and small. Perfect to share! I'll come back and try the jambalaya or another food sometime. It's just that this place is so crazy expensive, I wouldn't come here often. read more

My friends and I went here for brunch. None of us were able to eat any of our food. My Jambalaya was very watery and tasted like tomato soup. The rice was mushy and severely overcooked. It was obvious that its ingredients were low quality. On top of this, my eggs were completely unseasoned. At first, the staff was helpful, but as soon as we told them the food was not good, they became very rude and defensive. The manager did not offer a discount proportional to the amount of food we were able to stomach. In the end, we paid over $60 for food we could not even eat. Come early leave happy. Second time trying Cajun kitchen but first time at this location. The service is great all waiters and staff are very friendly. The food is even better. Quick service and delicious meals, savory OR sweet. I recommend the crab cake Benedict. Could be some of the best crab cakes I've ever had and full of real crab. The hollandaise is not overly tangy and is just the right consistency. Belgian waffle also was heavenly. Beware though!...of the wait that quickly develops outside. Cajun Kitchen was one of the first establishments I ever ate at when I moved to California/Santa Barbara. Being so new, I was shocked that a small town like Goleta would have a Cajun themed restaurant. After reviewing the menu, I settled on the Cajun scramble. I figured, "Cajun Kitchen... Cajun scramble," and that was a huge mistake. There was -nothing- Cajun about that meal except the name. I would later learn that there really isn't anything Cajun about the restaurant itself, except the name. My friends that are local told me that some of the worst items on the menu are the items in which they attempt to prepare Cajun style food. However they said If I tried regular breakfast items, they tend to do a decent job. Now armed with that information I went back and tried the Fried Chicken Benedict and it was in fact better. I definitely think they could do a much better job of seasoning the chicken, it was quite bland. But some hot sauce fixed that. The problem then became that there were ants on the wall of the booth I was sitting in. My friends still tend to enjoy Cajun Kitchen. We were recommended to come here by a friend of mine when we stayed at uscb for the weekend. Whenever you show up to a place and there's a huge line, it must be good. We waited about 30-35 mins and then were seated. Service was pretty good from there on out and our food was delicious! In fact everything I watched pass by looked so good and fresh. If you're in a hurry and don't want to be surrounded by young kids this place is not for you. If that doesn't apply best breakfast idea! It seems that many of the reviews for Cajun Kitchen Cafe are hit and miss - there's a reason for that. The line is long, but it moved quickly. We were seated quickly but then didn't see our waiter for ten minutes. The food came out quickly except for mine... I came here at around 1pm for lunch with my boyfriend and the restaurant (inside and outside seating areas) were PACKED! I ended up ordering the jambalaya with eggs (I usually order my eggs sunny side up!) and my boyfriend ordered the tri-tip eggs Benedict. HOLY GUACAMOLE were these two plates delicious!! The food was prepared super fast as well and everything was brought out to the table within 10 minutes. My jambalaya came with cornbread on the side and omg the apple butter sauce that came with it was TO DIE FOR!! It was extremely tasty! The jambalaya was around $14.00 and it included a TON of shrimp, shredded chicken, Louisiana styled sausage, ham, etc. I would highly recommend this plate, I thoroughly enjoyed it!! The portion is actually pretty big too and I couldn't finish my plate! The jambalaya was pretty satisfying and the price was on point. The only other places I had jambalaya at were California Pizza Kitchen (which charged $18.00) and at Disneyland (around $20.00), the jambalaya at Cajun Kitchen Cafe is 100% THE BEST!! everyone needs to try it! This place is great, when we were there the entire Santa Barbra fire department was there but it seems as a short wait is standard as is with most good breakfast places. They clearly focus on eggs Benedict and have a number of variety of the such. The had what looked like a good heuvos rancheros Aswell. I got the Cajun chicken eggs bene and it was quite nice. The chicken was good and it was seasoned well and nice and crispy! The service was stellar, host was a nice kid and the server and gentleman who refilled my ice tea were on top of things! The only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is that both my wife and my eggs were closer to over hard in our eggs Benedict. read more

Always love when Cajun kitchen when I'm in town. The shrimp po'boy has some crunchy perfectly cooked shrimp that'll make anyone ass clap with joy. But honestly, the shrimp étouffée takes the winner for me. It's spicy, and has a good amount is seasoning. Don't forget about the beignets. Admitingly I have them first with some tea. Great food and decent prices, but customer service leaves a bit to be desired. Cajun Kitchen is one of the better places in Goleta for brunch! There's a good amount of inside and outside seating. Dogs are welcome to sit outside! Be prepared to wait during peak hours, however. Everyone knows this place is good and it's no surprise that they're trying to get a table as well. I really like the eggs benedict here. I've tried the tri-tip eggs benedict and it's filling without being too heavy (the sauce definitely helps). I really liked the Fried Chicken benedict, but it's just too heavy for me. The combination of fried chicken and gravy, as well as a biscuit instead of an english muffin made the second one hard to swallow. If you want to try this out (it's still REALLY good), I would try asking if you can get the gravy on the side or substituting the biscuit for english muffin. OR, you can get a tri-tip benedict and have your friend get this and you guys share and eat one each! It's extra work, but it's worth it because all heaviness aside, it's still really good. My friends really liked the California benedict and the Jambalaya with eggs. The Jambalaya is a bit spicy, and has a kick to it. A lot of people come here for the bignets, but they're just okay for me. Other places make it fluffier and lighter. If you've never tried it, I would get it, but otherwise it's not as great as other people hype it up to be. While the food is great, I'm disappointed in the customer service. When we are putting in our orders, our waiters are nice enough, but it's the wait times that disappoint me. On several different visits, we experienced the same lack of attention. We waited over 20 minutes before we can order, and it was really difficult to ask for the check as well. After receiving the check, it took over 10 minutes for us to have someone take my card. And I was literally raising it high up the entire time! We had to walk up to a server and tell them to take our card. If you're not in a hurry or if you're willing to be neglected to experience good food, Cajun Kitchen is a great place to eat at. Hopefully they improve upon their customer service! read more

Went to a work meeting (3 persons) at the Hollister location (near Target). I ordered the Classic Benedict for breakfast and some water. The food itself was fine. Eggs and hollandaise sauce was hot and home fries were nice and crispy. The place was not busy as there were maybe a half dozen tables being used, no big parties. The atmosphere is that of a diner (or "dirty spoon" as we say in east coast). My colleagues both enjoyed their meals and gobbled up every morsel. The reason I am giving 2 stars in this case is because the service was poor. I ordered salsa with my meal when ordering but didn't receive it until I made a 2nd request after food was served. Not a big deal usually. However my biggest gripe was that our wait staff served our food and disappeared. No "how is your meal?" or "can I get you more water?" I was a front and back room service person at many restaurants/bars. This is a big No-no. If the place was packed (it wasn't) hey I get it. Do your thing, but at least check back 1x at a minimum. We waited for a long time to get our check and had to ask another server for it. For the most part I have enjoyed my visits/food here, and will most likely return. The atmosphere is awesome, and we had the most bubbly, delightful server who was very attentive despite their business.
