This is the place that I take family and friends to for breakfast when visiting. Being from the South, they're very happy that Cajun Kitchen has grits! Their breakfast is delicious! Homemade muffins - the blueberry are the best! For breakfast, I usually have the two eggs any style with the blackened chicken, or snapper, or pork chop. I also like their Crawfish étouffée and shrimp étouffée. The shrimp po boy is my favorite dish. The prices are very reasonable and the staff is always very quick and friendly. Popular place but I wasn't impressed the day I went. Ordered a blackened salmon, rice, cole slaw and side of corn bread. Corn bread fell apart and didn't stay together. Who messes up corn bread? Cole slaw was without flavor and bland. The blackened salmon was pretty good so I was happy with that. But what bothered me was the lack of service. My boyfriend got the shrimp po' boy and said it was lacking in shrimp, but maybe that's because he is a huge meateater so I don't know why he got that in the first place ... Three of us who got the jambalaya and all had mixed feelings about it. Whereas one of the guys ate it all up right away, the temperature was waaay too hot for us other two. I needed lots of hot sauce to make up for the lack of flavor :( but I love jambalaya so I ate it all up! We came around closing time, so I understand why some things were the way they were. Always packed in the mornings! Obviously because it's good and it's not a very big restaurant. On a busy morning, I'd say the wait is 20-25 minutes because the staff is pretty good at getting everyone in and out. They have a wide selection of food for both breakfast and lunch. The traditional breakfasts are there with pancakes and eggs but they also have omelettes, Mexican dishes and other hardy options. Their portions are huge and so you get what you pay for. I always love coming here. There hash browns are always extra crispy. The staff is really nice and friendly. It's always pack and the turn on the heaters outside. The bathroom is always clean but, I don't like the smell of the air freshener but that's just a personal preference. 3.5 stars. I didn't think this place was all that great. I mean what I ordered was REALLY GOOD...it just wasn't 4 stars for me. When the girls and I got there, we waited for a good 15 minutes. We were seated outside (which was good because it was way to loud inside). It took awhile for us to order our food because everything just seemed way too busy and the waiters were running back and forth trying to please other customers. I got the California Eggs Benedict. It was basically 2 poached eggs placed on bread with a slice of tomato and avocado smothered in hollandaise sauce. It also came with hash browns. Of course I ate it all because it was delicious, but there was too much hollandaise sauce on it. Everything seemed gooey on the plate. My friends orders offered a lot of food just like mine. Big portions. When I looked around some people got Jambalaya and eggs, which looked disgusting! It looked like marinara sauce with eggs... This breakfast place seems ordinary, maybe that is why it is only 3 stars to me. There wasn't anything striking to me that made it stand out to me like some breakfast places. The only good good thing is you get more food for the amount you're paying. Maybe when I visit again and come back here, I might change my opinion. read more

I had the chili verde pork with home fries and tortillas. The pork was dry but tasty. The home fries tasted like toasted boiled potatoes. The tortillas were bland and dry as well. The coffee was old (?) and bitter....and I really don't like my ladies that way either. My GF had the fried chicken and waffles. The chicken batter was BLAND! But the chicken was moist. I used to go here every time my family was in town to visit me at college. So many fond memories of waiting outside for brunch on a Sunday and watching people at what used to be Kmart. Recently I was here to meet up with old college friends and it was just as great as I remember. The service was very fast and I was surprised to see no line for a Saturday morning but I'm not going to complain! We sat outside near the heaters and enjoyed a huge spread of omelettes, eggs benedict and OJ. I highly recommend their crab cake eggs benedict (only served on weekends!). The hashbrowns are the real thing here, finely shredded potatoes with a crispy top. I like topping them with the cajun seasoning and some ketchup. Otherwise the crab cakes were perfectly seasoned and the eggs are poached nicely with just a slightly runny yolk. The portion size is generous and I was able to take some home to snack on later. There's a huge menu for all the picky eaters you know. Service was friendly and our waters and coffees were always kept full. Parking is easy as it's located in a huge shopping center. There are no words...This place is special. I went by this place this past weekend while dropping my nephew back off for school. I'm so glad I went in for breakfast with my sister and mom. This place is so overrated, and I adore Cajun food. I'm not sure this place completely qualifies... Their food is thoroughly mediocre. Their bacon is gross- yes, I know, how can bacon be gross? It's way too thick and burned and doesn't have fat. Their omelets are dry, and the andouille sausage leaves much to be desired. The benedicts are okay. As is the breakfast sandwich. When forced to come here (as part of group) my go to is the blueberry wheat germ pancakes. Those are delicious! (Even though ild prefer a savory breakfast). I've been going here off and on since they opened this location. I don't know why I keep going back since it's underwhelming at it's very best. My latest trip this week was a perfect example of why I keep thinking I won't be going back again. Coffee: More like water with brown coloring. Every bit as tasty as that sounds, btw. Food/Eggs: They simply do not know how to do over easy eggs here. Over medium would be okay but every time I've tried to order over easy, the eggs arrive with the yolk cooked. And cooked HARD. Now, I totally get that sometimes eggs can continue to cook when you have a warm dish and they're mixed with other hot food, but this isn't quite that case. What is the point of offering the over easy option if you can't even get them to make it. Good news, if you love hard boiled eggs for breakfast tho! Hash browns are good, but if you don't like your browns soft, ask for them well done. Otherwise you might get soft, mushy grated potatoes. Aint nobody got time for that. Service: Pretty friendly and efficient in most cases. This is basically why they get two stars. Environment: My table was covered in bacon and yet, had fresh cutlery placed on it. Note to manager: most people don't see three dime-sized pieces of bacon leftover from the prior diner as a "bonus." We see it as a" dirty table." Also, please, for the love of all that's holy, get rid of the strongly floral scented chemical industrial cleaner that is stored on the center island in the middle of the restaurant. On my recent visit, I literally could taste it. I don't know if was an open container or bucket but it was stored right behind me and halfway through my meal, it became overpoweringl. It's impossible to taste your food when your nose is filled with bleachy-rose-berries. "Gross" and "possibly harmful" isn't my idea of a good brunch experience. read more
