Born and raised in Lompoc. Maybe I woulda stuck around if Cajun Kitchen was on my radar back then? The food here is ...... A W E S O M E!! As in. Everything on the menu. How do I know if I don't live here? You may be asking yourself. Simple. When I come to Poc to see my family, we make it a point to eat as often as possible at Cajun Kitchen. My wife is fond of the veggie scramble and the beignets. I on the other hand tend to improvise off the menu much like a New Orleans jazz musician would riff according the whims of their mood. I choose whatever sounds good or whatever looks tastiest as the friendly staff flit this way and that with pipping hot plates of the yummy good good. It's ALL GOOD HERE!! Tips. Ask for salsa. Trust me. Chili verde. Mmmmmmmm. All I can say. Shrimp n grits ?? Try. Shrimp n Greatness!! File Gumbo is sofa king good!! Cornbread is super tasty. But. Add the Cajun Kitchen Apple Butter (no butter in it. Learned that after a ten minute debate at the table. Thanks Google) and their cornbread becomes a centerpiece. And. The last tip. You can (and I usually do) order two dishes. It's ok. No one bats an eye. Just don't be an epic tool and leave a chintzy tip. The food is too good to do that stuff. Eating here always makes me wish that I had that Cajun Patois so that I could sound as Cajun as the food makes me feel. But. I'll take the food over the accent any day!! Yummy !! read more

OMG! Best beignets outside of New Orleans. If you only come for these and coffee you won't be disappointed. This time, also got shrimp and grits, eggs Benedict, ranch omelet and biscuits and gravy. Now I'm a biscuits and gravy fanatic and these were among the 3 best I've ever had (the biscuits were huge and the gravy, oh the gravy I'll have dreams about)! Everyone raved about their food. The staff is great and the servings are huge, you definitely won't leave hungry! They're only open for breakfast and lunch, and on weekends tend to get really crowded. The food at Cajun Kitchen Cafe tastes so authentically Cajun that you'd swear you were in New Orlesans instead of Lompoc! For breakfast we shared a california eggs Benedict, Louisiana omelette, beignets, and French toast. All the food was good, but the beignets in particular were exceptional! They were served with syrup, but they tasted so good that syrup wasn't necessary. Another thing that stuck in my mind was the sauce on the eggs Benedict; it was completely delicious! Came here on a Wednesday for lunch, and we were seated right away. Everyone was super welcoming and friendly. The interior is surprisingly cute! Looking at the building from outside, it doesn't look like it would be that great inside. It's very cozy and homey. The menu looked great! This would be a great place for brunch. They had a ton of stuff for brunch and lunch items, most of which had a Cajun twist to it. They also had Cajun dishes available such as jambalaya and gumbo. I got the Cajun Chili dog--and it was perfect! Would love to go back and try more dishes. read more

Despite its name, Cajun Kitchen is just a basic greasy spoon diner. It does offer Cajun inspired options, but the standbys, chicken fried steak, corned beef hash, biscuits and gravy etc., are all there. They do have shrimp and andouille grits for breakfast, but most options are pretty traditional. The lunch menu goes further with its southern offerings. Beignets: Several for $5. Good, and coated with powdered sugar. Chicken fried steak: Fair to average at best. Gloppy average gravy, tender but a bit sinewey fried beef patty. Hash browns were crispy on the outside, and buttery on the inside. They weren't great, but were pretty good. Coffee: Strong and not at all bad. Overall not a bad place to eat the morning after one too many wineries. Lots and lots of breakfast options, and super fast and friendly service. read more

Had lunch here while exploring Lompoc specifically visiting the mission church. Ordered the catfish which was just ok. Hubby ordered the jambalaya and was ok just as well. The overwhelmingly staffed place boasts on their service and servers. They are friendly and always ready to serve. Our coffee's always refilled. Water too. Oh and the have this cornbread which is a delight, fluffy and flavorful spread buttercream and chocolate syrup and your in yummy land. The next morning we woke bright and early so we could take our time driving up highway one.  Before getting on the road we stopped for breakfast at Cajun Kitchen Cafe which was conveniently located across from our hotel.  I have to say while the food was good, I wasn't impressed.  I feel like they have their specialties which are neat but none of it was out of this world.  Would I eat there again, maybe, but I certainly wouldn't make a special trip. Great southern cooking! Lots of menu choices. The beignets are authentic. Portions are ample. Four of us each ordered different breakfasts. We all really enjoyed our meals. The service was excellent. Interesting fusion of Cajun and American brunch items. There's a huge selection of dishes, it's somewhat overwhelming at first but I'm sure you'll eventually find something that you'll like! I went with the country fried steak which was great. Also got the blueberry muffins which were warm, moist and went well with the butter. Shrimp and grits were terrible. The shrimp themselves weren't too bad but the grits were lacking flavor and served in a pool of grease. Tortillas served with my boyfriends scramble were either old and stale or improperly heated up. Despite them not being burnt they were hard like saltines and broke apart with the slightest touch. This is one of two must go to breakfasts restaurants in Lompoc. Their staff is always very friendly and their food is always good. They serve traditional cajun dishes, such as jumbalaya, creole, and grits. But, they are great for more traditional meal choices as well. Great kids menu and price is very reasonable. Can accomodate large groups with tables and have plenty of standard booths. Gets really busy weekend mornings, usually a 20 min or so wait. Weekdays is usually no wait. read more

I called in a order for pick up. When I got it home across town there were no eggs. I called and returned across town to pick up a new order. Not only do they not answer the phone correctly, or have clean window doors first thing in the morning, the cook had the gall to stand and stare me down with his stink eyes, then lie to the waitress that the eggs were under the steak. They were not. I will never be back. Threw my cold 20 dollar breakfast in the trash. Great management people. I don't blame the employees. No supervisor, no training, no education. Done. Never heard of a breakfast/brunch and cajun/creole diner before, so I had to try this place out when I was in town. Despite it being a Sunday morning, my group of 9 only had to wait 10-15 minutes to get tables. The jambalya was a tad salty for my liking, but the rest of the flavor was extremely rich and perfect for a colder day. The cornbread and its butter/dipping sauce was the perfect compliment as the sweetness cut through the saltiness of the jambalaya. Also loved that the portions were HUGE--made for tasty leftovers the next day. The staff were all sweet. I have not been here since before Covid but always enjoyed breakfast there before. Only one item of my breakfast was edible. I ordered blueberry pancakes(not fully cooked), two fried eggs with solid whites(eggs both under cooked with the whites runny), side of hashbrowns( outside layer burned inside potato mushy and inedible) and a slice of ham which was nicely cooked. My coffee was cold and that was from the wait staff never stopping by my table after they gave me my drinks and I was not able to get cream until they brought my food. I realize that since the pandemic it has been a transition for a lot of restaurants with cooks and wait staff. Hopefully another visit there will end with better results. read more

This place is great! I can't digest wheat, so when I decided to order the breakfast eggs and jambalaya I figured I just wouldn't eat the toast that it came with. However, when I told the waitress, I couldn't eat the toast she offered to give me corn tortillas instead as a substitute, which was really nice of her! This was my first time eating at Cajun Café. I was very excited because I have heard great things. I was very disappointed!! The food tasted fine. But my omelet was the saddest thing I have ever received. I ordered the Ranchero Omelet and it was tiny. I normally get omelets at other restaurants that are double that size. It was pathetic. For $15.95 I got an omelet for the size of a child. I can't believe they price it at that. It's insane to me. I feel I got ripped off. My family liked their sandwiches. I would try a sandwich there if I ever went back because I will definitely not be ordering another omelet, but I hope it's not tiny and overpriced. I see pictures here of other omelets and they are much bigger. I am very upset by the size-to-price ratio. Ridiculous. The managers or owners should check on that. read more
