This is regarding the Orcutt location. Sat in the back patio and froze our tails off as the kid was slowly putting together an outdoor heater. Never finished before our food came . Had to move inside and my kids had to carry their own plates of hot food to a spot inside. Asked for no beans in the supreme burrito; came with beans. I had chili verde with 10 pieces of meat and 5 were just fat. My son had chicken fajitas and had stomach problems all night and I did today as well. Not sure if I will retry this place. Service needs to be better and prefer table service not walk up and pay for my check or move tables and carry our own food, oh and the baby fork was a little ridiculous. Again, another high rating, largely because of the outstanding staff. Our family has been coming here, sometimes for dinner, usually for their excellent salsa for about 20 years. The one consistent factor is that they have always had the most helpful, prompt and caring staff. We've never had a bad experience here with staff, or the food. Recently, two of our friends suffered family losses. On short notice, on both occasions, I was able to reach out to Burrito Loco staff for "to-go" platters to assist those friends and their families with fulfilling meals during their trying times. Burrito Loco nailed-it both times, providing quality food and prompt service. When we've dined inside, the food is consistent, has the right amount of spices (for my taste) and is always a welcome treat. From my few visits I don't see anything out of the ordinary. And the taste of the food is good too...I was surprised by all the folks walking in and out. But what really sends a bliss factor in an over-the-moon kind of way is their salsa. Goodness gracious these people know what they are doing! I've had a lot of salsa in my time but nothing quite like what Burritos Lalo makes and services. You might say, "Why come to a place just for the salsa?" Because the salsa levels up all of their other food! I might be dating myself here but years ago there was a commercial that bragged about adding their product to your tuna and wow, it not only made your tuna better there was more of it! This is by no means that long forgotten product but similar in what it does for the food. Burritos Lalo makes a good Chili Relleno...but slather some of their salsa on it and it becomes exceptional. The same is true for all their other products from chips to burritos! Their salsa is where its at! In conclusion, on my next pilgrimage, I'll be making my way here for more. Tried to eat at Floriano's for lunch today, but the line was out the door. Still felt like Mexican, so we decided to try this place on the way out of town. Ordered 2 beef chimichangas and chips/salsa to go. Took less than 10 minutes and it was ready for pickup. Did some shopping at nearby Albertsons to make good use of the wait time. Opened up the styrofoam container once I got home and was pleasantly surprised to find a golden brown, perfectly fried chimichanga (see pic). Instead of drowning it with sauces, they let the chimi speak for itself, with side accoutrements waiting to be selected to create the perfect balance. The shredded meat inside was juicy and had great flavor infused into the meat. I opted for the hotter salsa and was pleased with the amount of heat. They did not hold back. Also purchased chips and salsa, but the house salsa was a little too salty for my taste. Overall, a good chimichanga but nothing really extravagant.
