I visited this cute establishment on a humble for the first time to satisfy my craving for cupcakes. Well I was in awe from the set up and displays and the cute menu description. It wasn't lengthy it was short and simple. It didn't have the price of the full sized cakes but I'm assuming that how they business start a conversation pieces. When I walked in I was instantly saddened because I was expecting a nice warm greeting from a cheerful greeter. I was not unfortunately. The young lady who helped me was actually helping another customer and I felt a disconnect between the two with service. The lady at the counter wasn't smiling and was very monotone with her voice and actions. The young lady was trying to smile to grab her attention and it was unsuccessful. After the sale was complete the young lady at the counter was very short with me as well. I looked up at the menu and read aloud, "Wow, you guys give ice cream scoops for free in hands?" I smile to try to break the ice and she quickly answered me, no. Followed with, "What can I help you with?" I asked for 4 cup cake flavors and she boxed them, gave me the total, I handed her my card, she swiped and handed my card back to me and turned the right register around for my signature then walked away to help another person. I completed the rest of my transaction myself, I said thank you and I walked out. As for the cupcakes they were ok. I wasn't as wowed as I thought I was going to be. The presentation was nice. They just didn't compliment my crave. Partially moist I suppose. Had my welcoming experience would have been better maybe my cupcakes would have been too. Needless to say I will not be returning to satisfy my crave for cupcakes at Cake Crumbs. Customer service needs some work. My review is based off of a birthday party I had here. We signed up for a "cupcake war" party which was the farthest thing from what I received. When I booked this party I was told that there would be different challenges for us to do and we would face off against each other..I was super excited because I'm a fan of the show and also I thought it would be fun to do something new for my birthday. In reality there was no cupcake war at all.. yes they split us in teams and that's the only "war" part...it went a little like this Split into groups Now everyone pour in... Now everyone.... No diff ingredients no different toppings(which were stale ) We didn't have any challenges..no taste off nothing...for the money I spent it definitely wasn't worth it...and to top it off I felt like the "host" was working and hosting...she wasn't very engaging and really an overall disappointment..my guest complained that the cupcakes were nasty and dry. In this package you also receive a celebration cake they asked if I had a theme I said no and said be creative and surprise me...the surprise was some zigzag lines on top of the cake (could of done better). I ordered a half birthday cake for my daughter. I showed various pictures to the lady who took my order of what I wanted. She seemed to fully understand what my vision was of a naked cake. I picked up the cake today and when I got home and opened the box it was not what I asked for. The cake was completely bare and looked like something I could've just done at home. I called cake crumbs and the apologized for the inconvenience and asked to bring back the cake so they could "fix" it. I too it and they didn't spend more than five minutes fixing the cake. It looked "ok" and I accepted it. When I got home the second time with the "fixed" cake, it toppled over because when they removed it from the cardboard base to redecorate they didn't seem to secure it. When I lifted the cake a piece of it came off and it smeared my daughters name that was written on the base. I now have to fix it myself in hopes it'll look presentable for the photo shoot we have planned. read more

I heard this place was good! I Ordered a white coat graduation cake for my bff who just became a doctor! My receipt specifically said the colors where purple, silver and white! I went to pick it up the white coat was green! Highly disappointed I drove 30min there and 30min home then 30min back after they fixed it! Might I add paid $330 for the cake! All I got was a sorry and offered 4 cupcakes! Who does business that way! I was in too good of spirits to act a fool in there! What better way than to write and show their true colors! I have ordered from Cake Crumbs before, but this last time will be my last time! So disappointed in the cake I received. Ordered a birthday cake in the store and discussed in detail the design I wanted. I even e-mailed pictures per the clerk's suggestion to assure my theme would be perfect. Well, picked up the cake and to my surprise it was nothing like what I asked for. It was supposed to have 1 high heel shoe and a clutch purse with a semblance of a green crystal closure. It actually had 2 shoes with bows on them. Never asked for bows! And the purse had a bow on it too. Why ask for pictures if you don't follow them! Since I needed the cake for the party that day, I accepted the cake and took it home. However, I called the store to speak to the Manager to explain my displeasure and was told that I should have brought it to her attention while I was in the store. I explained that I needed the cake so I took it, but wanted her to know that the design was all wrong and asked why the pictures were not followed. She said that the clerk who ordered was usually very good at writing up orders but she failed to note the pictures were sent. No apology or restitution was given to me. Not even a come back for a free cupcake. The cakes here are not cheap and I felt I could have been treated better as a customer. I will no longer eat Crumbs! read more

I asked for chocolate frosting on the outside so not sure why there was vanilla around the edges (and not even fully covered by the way, a sloppy, shotty job). Barely any frosting between the layers. I recently purchased an emoji theme cake for my daughter's 10th birthday in Southfield , Mi. The price was $74, a little high but I hoped it would be worth the money. Well. it's sad to say it was not. While the cake did look exactly like the picture, once you cut into it, it just falls apart. Now, I read a review where a Cake Crumbs representative said that is normal with fondant, however I have to disagree because I had a specialty cake at my wedding that did not do this. The other sad part was that the cake tastes just like Duncan hines box cake. It was dry and lacked real flavor. My daughter loved the look of the cake but none of the children cared for the taste of the super sweet fondant and dry cake. And kids love all sweets, smh.. Sad to say , I wasted $74. read more

I believe this place is relatively new. I've only been there twice so far, but both experiences have been very solid. Pros: Customer service here so far has been great. The employees always seem upbeat and seem to have no problem making a little conversation with the customers. They're also very patient if you happen to show up not quite knowing what you want without browsing for a minute (guilty). The cake is delicious and moist. You can definitely tell that the stuff they are selling is fresh. The frosting is the perfect level of sweetness with just the right balance of firm/creamy texture. I'm a big frosting fiend and bad icing can be an immediate deal-breaker for me, but I'm happy to report that Cake Crumbs really knows their stuff. Did I mention all of the ones I had were stuffed with just a bit of frosting? That was a nice surprise. I've had cake from quite a few places in the area, and this spot is easily in the top tier. They sell slices of layered cake in addition to cupcakes (along with other goodies). So far I've had the carrot cake slice (four delicious layers), banana cream cupcake, Reeses cupcake, and the salted caramel and they were all on point. They have some other good looking stuff in their case as well (hello, double-decker caramel cheesecake brownie) that I have yet to try, but if the cakes are any indication I won't be disappointed. Cons: A little tough to spot from the road, so it's easy to miss if you don't know it's there. Just look for the big Tim Horton's sign and you'll be all right. This place is just a few units down. Hesitant to put this as a con because this is fairly standard for nicer gourmet-style bakeries, but the cupcakes can get a little pricey. To be fair, they are right in line with their competitors in this regard, and the regular cupcakes are actually pretty large. For a cheaper/smaller option they do have mini cupcakes and cake pops available. This is my big one so far - the menu seems to change periodically, but so far there is no way to find out what the daily features are without calling or walking in. It would be nice if the daily/weekly/whatever schedule would be posted on the website or their Facebook page with a bit more regularity so I could know when previous favorites are in stock or appealing new flavors are coming in. I work through a decent chunk of their business hours so that would be extremely helpful for me. Nothing worse than showing up near the end of the day on a whim to find out that they had exactly what you were looking for...but already sold out of it. I'd happily call ahead if I knew when to call and what I was calling for. All of this being said, I'll definitely be back. I can't say no to good cake like this...especially when it's a only a quarter of a mile away from my apartment. read more

Luckily for me, this was only the second cake tasting I had, and I knew from first bite, that this was the place. Renea is truly gifted and makes an amazingly moist and delicious cake. My cake was beautiful, and exactly what I wanted. Simple yet elegant. She allowed me to customize every detail. My 3 layers each had different flavors and fillings. My guests were in love with my cake and continued to ask me even days later for my baker. I will be getting all future cakes from here from now on. Just a hint, try the carrot cake too. I got my daughter the It's My Birthday cupcake with was a yellow cupcake, the Oreo cupcake (I forgot the name) and treated myself to the tiramisu. I called cake crumbs to inquire about a small cake and cupcake order for my sons 7th birthday for the 25th of September. I was told that was plenty of time for the order to be completed and to just submit a picture of the cake along with my info and someone would reach out to me. Two days went by and no one called. I called the bakery to ask if they received my email. I was asked what was the email and date for the event then placed on hold, a different lady came to the phone and told me that my order was all set for the 25th. I asked could she repeat the order to me. As she began to read off the order I stopped her to inform her that she must have the wrong person because that wasn't my order. I proceeded to tell her what my order was, I was stopped and told that someone would call me back. I waited 4-5 hours with no call back. I called back and explained my situation, again I was told that someone would call me back. This time I was asked for my name and a call back number. Someone called back 15 minutes later and asked what did I need. I told her that I was calling about a cake order that I emailed them, and had also inquired about on the phone for the 25th September. She informed me that someone would email me back. About 30 minutes later someone named Renea emailed me back. She told me how much the cupcakes would be and asked would i like the top tier of my cake to be rice cereal or cake. I was also asked would I like buttercream or a fondant topper on the cupcakes. After agreeing upon the date, cupcakes, and the top tier being cereal. I told her that everything sounded great and that I would see them Saturday. I forgot one thing, to get a total for the cake and cupcakes. I sent a second email to ask how much the cake would be. Renea replied " After reviewing our production week, we have no availability to accept your order request. I sincerely apologize for the late notice. We do look for an opportunity to create for your next special event in the future. At this time, we are extremely lacking the staff needed to accept additional orders. May your event be a sweet one." I replied "Hi , i spoke with someone last Monday that assured me that you all would be able to have the order ready by the date i requested. Is it possible to just make the cake? I cancelled my order with another bakery because I was told that your company would be able to make the order. " She replied "Hello, Again, I apologize. Since then, numerous cakes have been reserved. We apologize for the inconvenience" My son and I were devastated and shocked at this news. I still can't figure out what makes one reservation more important than another. This was completely inconveniencing & unprofessional, seeing as how she informed me that my order was cancelled 5 days before my event. I was a drop in customer from time to time and have sent numerous clients to them. I will not be returning nor referring anyone else to them in the future, book at your own risk. read more

Passed the restaurant thinking it was just another addition to the cupcake shop fad, but craving a cupcake, I decided to check out there website and was delighted to see they offered vegan cupcakes. I decided to check it out expecting no more than about three flavors but Cake Crumbs triple-downed on my expectations. I decided on the Strawberry Lemonade, Coconut Key Lime, and Two-Way Oreo (with vanilla cake): OUTSTANDING, ALL OF THEM. Perfectly moist, the sweetness level between the cake and the icing was spot on! Don't be mistaken. This is a bakery with more than just cupcakes to offer - cakes, tarts, some of the most divine looking macarons I've ever seen and will definitely be trying my next visit, etc. They also advertised gluten-free options, but I'm not sure if those choices are ready or special made-to-order. I ordered a cake two weeks ago for my son's birthday. I had a phone conversation with someone at the shop and ordered an 8" chocolate cake with Oreo mousse frosting, the words I wanted added to the cake and also confirmed the pick-up day/time. I asked to have an image transferred onto the cake and that I would email them the image immediately. They said upon seeing the image, they'll confirm the price back to me. After multiple days of not hearing from anyone, I called them to confirm. It was confirmed that they received the image and I was quoted $63.99 (at this time they still had my order details in the shop). I went to pick up the cake today (an hour before the party) to find out they never heard of me and therefore never made my cake. The woman working asked if I put down a deposit and I said "no...when I talked to the shop on the phone TWICE, no one asked for a down payment." I WAS (and still am) FURIOUS!!!! Here I am...driving all over town trying to find a replacement cake as people are arriving to my home for my son's party. Shame on Cake Crumbs for not asking for a down payment or calling me back later on (after someone noticed my order or email) to ask me about it. I WAS a repeat customer, but not anymore. I also won't refer anyone to this shop due to bad business practices and customer service. I never even got a "sorry" while I was standing in the shop cake-less. Unreal! read more

My go-to bakery called at 9:00AM the day of the celebration to tell me they had no power and would not be able to complete my order. I was in a panic!!!! I called Cake Crumbs 9:30AM and asked if they could complete a same day order. Not only did they accommodate my request for a 2:00PM same day pick-up but they took artistic pride in their work. They could have easily given me cupcakes with basic frosting but they added glitter, confetti and pearls. The cupcakes were beautiful and tasted great! My daughter was extremely happy!
