It brings me back to the Rasberry Jelly Cake Rolls I ate growing up in Brooklyn with an elevated delicious twist of white chocolate crunch. I'm never disappointed and their butter cream is not overtly sweet so it's actually enjoyable for more then 1 bite. I've been wanting to try Cake Monkey for years, but just got around to trying it. Took a while, I know! I got some mini cakes and the inside out s'mores. The s'mores was fine, nothing special honestly. The cakes were so good though! Bunch of different options and super cute too. Are the mini cakes a little pricey? Definitely, when you buy more than a couple. But for a once in a while indulgence, I can over look the price. Nice service too. But they let big dogs in, which isn't that pleasant because it's a small place and the dog was licking everything. read more

Our wedding was this past Sunday and our 3 cakes from Cake Monkey were a SMASH HIT! As the bride, I fully took 2 slices (pecan dacquoise & chocolate caramel; our lemon curd wedding cake apparently got gobbled up) back to our hotel and ate them at 2AM - it was bliss! lol. The kids at the wedding could not stop talking about how excited they were for our chocolate cake (with rice krispies and salted caramel topping). You can tell how good everything was because there were almost no leftovers (boo!) - and we ordered 110 slices for 70 guests. Coordinating drop-off and set-up of the cakes was easy and they looked beautiful. Sampling some sweets and cake monkey does not disappoint. I had ordered several cakes here in the past but today thought it was a good idea to sample some of the other flavors I have not tried yet. I do have to say that they make a delicious chocolate cake. The black and white cake has chocolate crumbles or is it crumbs that gives it a texture like an Oreo cookie in every bite. Carrot cake has a yummy cream cheese icing and pistachio nuts on top but it has too many spices for my liking and finally, the confetti cake gives a great way to taste their vanilla cake but I still think that they make a better chocolate cake. Cake Monkey has an extensive menu. If I could have this cake for breakfast lunch and dinner, I would 100% do it!! Our wedding venue (Albertsons wedding chapel) suggested we try cake monkey for our wedding cake. They were conveniently located near by for us to give them a try. We actually intended to order a few samples but we needed to fill out an online application and come back another day. Since we were already there, we picked up a small sample of their vanilla gorilla cake. We were instructed to let the cake sit out for 10 minutes before eating it, which we did. And omg!! It taste like nothing i have ever tried before!!! The frosting is perfectly sweetened, and the moisture in the cake is just perfection! We live an hour away, and i crave this cake every single day!! We didn't even bother trying other flavors, we went ahead and placed an order for the vanilla gorilla flavor, and i couldn't wait to try it on our wedding day. As far as i know, the cake arrived on time. We kept the decoration simple, my sister did scatter candy pearls over the cake for it to fit the wedding theme. When our guest tried the cake all we could hear was "mmmm" it was unbelievably good. The cake alone got a lot of compliments. I like picking up treats at Cake Monkey. However, the last time I was there (a couple of weeks ago) an employee was walking around without a mask on. She had pink/hot pink dye on the tips of her hair and had a dry cough. She made her way to the front and poured herself some hibiscus (?) tea while she was coughing. She didn't cover her mouth even though the baked goods were a foot away, another employee was standing right next to her, and I was just on the other side of the counter. Even the tall guy that also works there was looking at her like "what the heck?" They have signs on the door that say you have to wear a mask etc. etc. but they don't enforce it with their own staff. The tall guy who eventually helped me was nice and he was wearing a mask. The manager really needs to pay attention to how the shop is run. read more

My friend and I ordered cakes to-go one was raspberry red velvet and the other was chocolate with white cream filling similar to a ding dong. The fillings were undeniably rich in flavor and texture. The outer chocolate coating was smooth and silky. The cakes were firm with just enough crumble. They were spectacular, to say the least. The cakes were the size of a lady's palm. I love their mini layer cakes. The flavors are unique, delicious and the buttercream is really good. However, their assistant store manager (I believe her name is Memory) isn't very nice or helpful. The first time I interacted with her, I asked if she could write "happy birthday" on the cake I picked and she replied "no" with a fake smile. So they don't write on regular sized cakes there, fine. Just don't be condescending about it. The second time she "helped" me out, I asked her what the flavors of the mini layer cakes were (since it wasn't labeled) and she said "there's a menu right there. We have almost all the flavors today". My friend and I were left to play guess the flavors in the display case, once we decided on flavors we chose 2 and she told me that I was "just picking ALL the flavors she didn't have". My friends and I aren't really "dessert people," so the size of the mini cakes were perfect for sharing! There are so many flavor choices available, it was hard to make a decision. The carrot cake was my absolute favorite, and I was impressed by how good the vegan/gf confetti cake was. I also picked up a few of the "cake sandwiches" that reminded me of ding dongs-- the chocolate/marshmallow was to die for! The packaging is cute, and they also sell candles and cake toppers in case you're in a rush and don't want to make more than one stop. I don't normally write negative reviews, but I would be remiss to leave this one out. I ordered their classic cake for my daughter's 40th birthday. We followed the directions and did not refrigerate the cake. We had dinner and then sang happy birthday and when she cut the cake, it literally fell apart. The layers were not adhering to the frosting and the cake was very dense and dry. I felt terrible that everyone took one or two bites and discarded the rest. Fortunately, it was just the family and we threw the entire thing away. Luckily, my other daughter had ordered a cake from a different bakery for the actual party and it was delicious. Everything always looks so delicious! Over the rainy pre-Valentine weekend, I had a major sweet tooth - but when don't I? - and I finally decided to check them out. I wanted EVERYTHING. Knowing this wasn't possible, I tried to select what I really would enjoy. There's one case full of beautiful, miniature cakes but one of the workers told me that it would be best to eat it after an hour. Oh no - I couldn't wait. I'll get one next time. I chose the "love is love" sugar iced cookie mostly for its picture worthiness but it did end up being a sweet little cookie. I also chose the toffee blondie. So good! It had a chewy toffee top and a moist cake bottom. There were some nuts for texture and a little salt thrown in. Perfect! Whether it's cold or hot, I always prefer iced drinks. I asked if the mocha was sweet and was told that it was sweeter than most because it's made with ganache - yum!!! About two scoops of a decadent chocolate ganache were blended with espresso and milk to make my mocha. I loved it. It was absolutely delicious and mixed well with the espresso. No bitterness, not overly sweet, just perfect. Quite possibly the best I've had. If you're looking to cure your sweet tooth blues or need a chocolate pick-me-up, go check them out. read more

I work in the area and have been itching to try this place for months. Finally decided to order a cake two weeks in advance for my friends birthday. I ordered the triple berry cake as that was one of the most recommended cakes my friend enjoys fruitier cakes. I paid 58 dollars which I consider a lot for a cake but based on all the positive reviews I was willing to pay it. Unfortunately the cake was just ok. Straight up MID. It was not fresh either it was lacking when it came to texture and moisture. Considering I ordered two weeks in advance that's a major disappointment. I did like the flavor of the berry jams so it was just good enough to where I wasn't furious but still very disappointed in the overall quality. I probably will not be back. read more

Gluten free loaf cake was incredibly good. That's coming from a guy that Hoover's up gluten like it's air. The award winning cherry pie won another award in my stomach. I usually share things I buy. I could not share the pie. There was not enough pie to go around. If I ever see that pie again, there will still not be enough of that pie to go around. That was some really good pie. The cakes, I wasn't fond of any of the cakes. I'm a huge cake guy. I love cake. I dream cakes. Something was missing from each cake. A bit pricy for me as well.
