    Peach cobbler with no peaches
    Tae G.

I happened to stop at Church's Chicken next door and heard the owner soliciting. I wanted to support a BB so I went for free samples. I asked to try the butter cream and red velvet cake, but the owner gave me 4 different ones. Butter cream = moist and good Red velvet = okay Butter cream party cake = stale and tasted like lemon (I do NOT like lemon desserts!) Strawberry lemonade cake = lemon flavor & not for me I bought a slice of 7 up pound cake. Got home and saw the tag said LA's lemon cake and 7 up. Which is it?? I give it 5 stars for being moist. But it was extreeeeemely sweet! I recall the owner explaining all of her desserts are "naturally sweetened". I didn't taste the cane sugar. Corn syrup?? Who uses it in cakes?? Blahhh! Peach cobbler... another diabetic-like sweet dessert, imho. It instantly got thrown away. The crust - awful!! It was flat & stiff like cardboard, no exaggeration! I didn't get any hints of butter, cinnamon, or nutmeg. My small container was all juice. And I'm still not sure what type of sweetener is used. I found 2-3 mushy bits of peaches that looked like mashed baby food. There wasn't one full slice of peach anywhere. I don't know how much money I threw away, but my total for a slice of cake and small peach cobbler was close to $14. I tried...

Stumbled upon this hidden gem tonight. Their caeeot cake is by far one of the best I've had. I absolutely loved the banana pudding as well. Their customer service was amazing. She was very kind and took her time to explain what they had and even as I we t back and forth with my husband, she waited patiently for us to make our choice. I'll definitely be coming again!

Cakes were amazing. Located right on the street, so easy to miss. But worth seeking out.

As an update to an earlier review, the buttercream was so moist and light, it melted in my mouth.

I ordered a matcha Einspanner less sweet. It came out super creamy and really well balanced. Also, I have never seen a matcha look like that! The cafe is pretty spacious with a decent amount of seating, which I appreciated. A huge plus is that they have a parking lot. Overall, I had a great experience and would definitely come back!

They have chairs and tables for you to hang out and eat/drink what you purchased. There's also just benches if you wanna lounge. I've seen people here working on their laptop and groups of people around one table so the vibe is chill and friendly. It also depends on what time of day you come. Weekends usually get packed. As for the drinks and food. What we've had here has always been good. Best to eat their Croffle and baked goods there. Although Matcha is not for my liking, I'm more for their Taro Drink. B says the Matcha here is one of the better ones she's had. I have to agree even their Matcha Ice Cream is good. We get is the Matcha Croffle + Ice Cream, Matcha Einspanner, Taro Einspanner, and their cakes. Only thing I knocked down a star is because Not all the workers know the answers to your questions of what is in what food item or if you can substitute the milks. So that's something Cafe Upper should train all staff. Especially if people have food allergies.

Personally, I don't like that style, I was hoping the original would change that for me! Long story short, I didn't like the Walnut Chocolate Chip. I personally just don't like that style still, so I'll chalk it up as a "me" problem. The cooked part was good. The Rocky Road was cooked through. It was an amazing baked good with good flavor and add-ins. Between the roasted almond slices and fudgey chocolate chips, I was enjoying it immensely. A highlight of my day for sure. If you love underbaked cookies, Levain is your cookie shop! I don't and they had something for me too!

Based on my memories, this LA location keeps it consistent with a similar taste and texture as the NY location. 3.5/5 Chocolate Chip Walnut: This cookie was tall and slightly undercooked in the middle. The middle was a bit on the squishy side, and crunchy on the outside. Due to the undercooked quality, it's not a cookie I'd get regularly, though I am a big chocolate chip cookie fan. 5/5 Rocky Road: This was delicious. I'm not usually a marshmallow fan, but the addition of this ingredient formed a nice chewy consistency that I expect from a cookie. Chocolatey tidbits were well melted into the cookie texture and produced some fudgey notes. The cookie sizes are large and potentially shareable, and feel like an every once in awhile treat.

We've seen all the viral fruit pastries online, and were so excited to try them. When we got in, we were able to see all of the options on display and they had a big menu telling you exactly what was in each one. You order off of a kiosk, which makes it incredibly easy to order. Almost all of our pastries were ready before we had even left the kiosk, which was great! I went with the mango and the peach, both of which were fantastic! The shortbread cookie underneath both was delicious, the mango mousse and filling tasted so fresh and amazing. The peach had an Earl Grey cream and fresh peach chunks as well. Both were in the classic white chocolate shell. These are so cute, fun to eat, very refreshing, and not overly sweet. The shop itself is adorable, plenty of seating, great decor and the staff was super friendly and very nice! These fruit pastries have absolutely gone viral, and there's many shops that do them, but Tu Cha is hands-down, the best!
