I came in for another cake when I was visiting Vegas for a friends birthday . They never let me down! I would love to post the photo but it has my friends face everywhere since it was a collage I made. She loved it , and everyone already assumes I'll be bringing a cake from here for their birthdays from here on out. Haha The owner is super sweet I got to meet last time I was picking up my cake.

Not to be mistaken with the similarly named Cake World on North Tenaya Way, the focus of both spaces on Mexican Pan Dulce and custom-orders but entirely unrelated, Cake World Bakery is owned and operated by Juan Castenada who immigrated from Guanajuato in 1959, the son of a baker eventually picking up the family trade after a couple of career changes and never looking back after opening the single-story blue shop in 2002. Certainly not a part of town frequented by tourists or even middle-class locals, though the slow gentrification of East Fremont including the likes of nearby PublicUS has created a cultural shift that makes the small Bakery's barred windows seem a bit overly-cautious, guests entering Cake World Bakery will immediately find themselves greeted by either Juan or one of his family members, a pair of racks decked out in Pastries separating seating from the kitchen while chillers reside to the right full of Cakes and Beverages. More English-fluent than other Panaderia in town, both in person and over the phone, it was after several minutes indecision that an order was arranged in addition to two Birthday Cakes for separate occasions. Inexpensive as those familiar with such places might anticipate, a half-dozen Pan Dulce and the two Cakes tallying just $65, it was home that items were cut and tasted, the Concha starting things off and better than any other in Las Vegas while Elephant Ears crackle with Butter beneath caramelized Sugar. Saving the Cakes for last, Carrot with Raisins beneath Cream Cheese Frosting dense and moist, fans will be happy to know that Chef Castenada's many years in the business have yielded a textbook Tres Leches recipe that arrives soaking-wet while maintaining textural complexity thanks to smooth Custard between layers of Cake and the addition of chopped Strawberries.

I ordered a special cake for my grandma and came out beautifully. They were able to add her picture and whipped cream roses. The frosting was perfect not hard or super sweet. The inside was layered with vanilla cream and strawberries. Super delicious! The family love it! Especially my grandma. Thank you for making this beautiful and delicious cake. Highly recommend.

We called to order a 21st birthday cake for our son. They knocked it out of the park. The cake was so delicious and so fresh, but the decorations is what stole the show. They had miniature bottles on top of alcohol as well as a cute picture on the side. Everyone was absolutely blown away with the quality and presentation of this cake.

OK. I came in 3 days prior to my event and requested a coco melon two tier cake. Short notice and they got it done! I paid $165.00 I wasn't a fan of her name at the bottom as it seemed kind of sloppy but due to short notice I have no room to complain. I did chocolate cake with bananas and strawberries with vanilla cake. My daughter loved her cake and so did the guest. It was so much left over!

Thank you Cake World, they did an amazing job on my son's cake. I needed a cake last minute since we do not live in Las Vegas and called around and they were able to provide us a delicious cake the next day and with great service. My sweet friend got me a cake from here for my birthday and asked them if they could make it completely dairy free because I'm severely lactose intolerant. This was the best tasting cake I've ever had. I had to keep asking if it was really dairy free and I never got sick so that's amazing. It was so soft, fluffy, and moist. The frosting was so good too. I never knew this place existed, I'm going to be suggesting them to anyone looking for cakes and will be using them from now on.

Juan and his team made a great adult birthday cake for us recently and we could not have been more happy. We have used cake world in the past and have always been happy. Bavarian cream filled triangle is delicious and not overly sweet. Cheese pastry reminds me of my favorite Danish very good. Order from the Service counter and they ring you up. This place does custom cakes as well. This place is a bakery with a service counter. Not overly decorative or follows a specific theme. read more

Disappointing Customer Service Experience- I called to inquire about a German chocolate cake for my sister's wedding this Saturday. When I asked about pricing, the woman on the phone responded initially nice and said yes they had it. Then I asked how much they charge for cakes and she responded with an attitude, saying she didn't know what I needed. I explained that I had checked the website for wedding cakes, but the page said "under construction." She dismissively replied, "I don't know what you're talking about." Rather than offering assistance or asking clarifying questions--like what size or type of cake I was looking for--she came off as unhelpful and rude. I wasn't expecting anything complicated; I just needed a cake. A little effort to guide me would've gone a long way but with that kind of attitude I'd rather just stick to a basic Ralph's cake something simple. read more

Last minute potluck dinner at home so I had to grab bread and dessert. I always try to support small businesses. I Yelped bakeries near by and this came up. Although I don't speak Spanish, the man that greeted me was so kind and helpful. I got bollo rolls and concha, pan cookies(the heart shaped) and sprinkle cookies. All were fresh and delicious! The bakery reminded me of old school and I loved that so much. It was nice and clean . I'm looking forward to going back to try some cake! read more

I ordered a special cake for my grandma and came out beautifully. They were able to add her picture and whipped cream roses. The frosting was perfect not hard or super sweet. This place still cheaper than any other place. not because they Bakery they supply a lot of businesses but when you have a sandwich and a bread, that's huge like around and you have turkey mayo, lettuce, tomato, and you only pay like 4.50$ the value is great and so is all the other sandwiches. Pastries start dollar 50 down to one dollar he never put up his pastry prices for 30 years now $1.50 extra.. very clean place . Bathroom is immaculate. When you order a cake, they are the lowest price food is just very good so visit and make that special place it's worth every dollar. Juan the Owner always very happy never down always smiling As of his brother Gerardo . After 39 years I have been living in Las Vegas. I recommended this place. read more

I bought their red velvet cake for a Halloween party and it was light, fluffy and delicious. Most importantly baked fresh and not overly sweet. The other guests all thought the cake was delicious. The bakery is easy to miss and in a sketchy area with annoying road work. There is a parking area behind the building that is safe. They have some Mexican pastries like sweet breads and donuts, cream filled pastries that are very reasonably priced. read more

Cake World Bakery intially made our wedding cake in September 2020, because of our satisfaction, I returned! Thanks for making my husband's birthday so amazing by providing not only one, but two cakes for his actual birthday, Friday 07/12/204 at our home (German chocolate/his favorite) and Saturday (Cubs/Bears/Bulls chocolate cake with strawberries in the middle) 07/13/2024 at a venue. Great staff, great selection of pastries, and amazing cakes! We needed a birthday cake for my son's 15th birthday. We couldn't decide on which bakery to use, since we're from out of town (Denver, Colorado). This bakery was highly rated on Yelp, so we took a chance. No regrets here. Was cake was so good. When it comes to amazing bakeries... this place takes the cake! Sorry I couldn't resist... but seriously, Cake World Bakery is in a league all their own! Their prices are super reasonable, they're good at what they do, and the staff is super friendly and way down to earth. As a wise woman once said, 'these are a few of my favorite things.' Here's a story about just how awesome they are: Picture this... I flew to Las Vegas solo not too long ago for a medical cannabis convention, as I wanted to learn more about the field, about who the key players are in terms of cancer and other medical treatments and to further expand my network. I heard that to really do so, you need to get an invitation to the private parties and events that thrown by some of the well known magazines and brands. I managed to get invited to a invite-only rooftop gala, which was awesome, however there was also another event that I wanted to attend as well. I wasn't able to snag a ticket to that one so instead I channeled my inner Leonardo DiCaprio (Catch Me If You Find), found out the location to the party and arrived an hour and a half early. I then searched on Yelp and found this amazing bakery on Yelp only about 8 blocks away, who I kindly asked to replicate their magazine's logo in icing. Within minutes of placing my order and showing the baker a google image as a reference on my phone, he presented me with this amazing looking cake that only cost me less than $30! I went back to the venue, and approached the rear door (as clubs and party halls usually have their kitchen located all the way in the back) and while flashing the cake I announced "My phone's dead, am I in the right place?" I didn't really wait for an answer, I just smiled, nodded, and walked in. After I left the kitchen I realized I made it in and was one of the early bird guests, amongst some VIPs. My heart was pounding, my back was sweaty, but my cake and my confidence were on point. I met the CEO/CFO shortly after I walked in, told him the story (which he LOVED) and we shared some amazing cake together. I even saw Mike Tyson inside, standing only a few feet away from me. All in all, this bakery was my hero. If you're looking for some quality craftsmanship and a cake that delivers on all fronts, this is your place! read more

Had high expectations for this place especially since I wanted to support local businesses but unfortunately I do not recommend this place at all. I shown them my reference picture for the cake which they said they can do it with the only change I requested being the shape of the cake. The day of I had someone pick up the cake and when I seen it, it looks nothing like the reference picture. The color was not the same, the strawberries looked like red chilies and the worst part of it all was the writing on the cake. For $135 (with a smash cake) it was truly awful and disappointing. It was too late to even ask for them to fix it and was hoping that the cake would at least taste better than it looks which sadly it didn't. It was dry and stale. It's very upsetting since it was a 1st birthday cake so the pictures of the cake were terrible. I reached out and express my concern which they acknowledged it was not okay how the cake turned out. I drove all the way back for a $25 refund which made it more upsetting. If you want customize and good tasting cake, I would recommend looking at other local businesses. read more

What an outstanding experience at this classic little bakery tucked away near downtown! I needed a high quality birthday cake on short notice, and boy did they deliver. I spoke with an incredibly nice and helpful individual on the phone (thanks Zach!) who told me they didn't have anything like what I needed but they could make it custom and have it ready in about an hour. Sounded good to me so I gave him the order, he made some helpful suggestions for filling, topping, and size, and it was easy as that! I went down there an hour later, the cake was ready and it was *beautiful* - far exceeded even my expectations! Everyone at the shop was extremely nice and pleasant to deal with. Good folk! My girlfriend wanted a nice cake for her birthday, and Cake World nailed it, and everyone there was awesome in the process. I liked it so much I bought a pastry to go on the way out. I went to this bakery, for the 1st time, to get a LOL Dolls birthday cake made. I hoped for the best, having never bern here. From the time I walked through the door, I was greeted with a warm smile. I showed them what I wanted and they agreed it could be made. The cake turned out great! It was soo incredibly delicious and moist. First and foremost EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE. I had walked in Sunday morning to get bread for my family and I. After picking my selection, they rang me up. Their cash advance machine was having issues and after a couple of tries the owner came tried to resolve the issue. Unfortunately the machine didn't work and they couldn't process my transaction. Both items were on the sweeter side, and I usually don't like very sweet desserts, so that may just be a personal preference.

I arrived at 939pm, looked at the menu and decided on a slice of the Ube Crepe cake and one of the Apple Cinnamon macarons. They don't close until 10pm and people were still coming in, and there were still plenty of people sitting in the restaurant, but the staff didn't let me order anything at 945pm saying that she doesn't take any more orders after 930pm. What?!?! What the hell? You're open for a whole 30 more minutes and don't want to take my money - am I hearing that right? My friend had cash on him, and he was willing to pay cash if that's less of a hassle, and still no. It's not even to-go only, it was a flat-out no, before their 10pm closing time. THAT IS CALLED CRAP SERVICE. However, the 3 stars instead of 1 or 2 stars is because one anonymous employee who witnessed that go down changed my perspective of this spot. This person asked me not to reveal their identity on my Yelp review out of fear of getting in trouble. They overheard me trying to order but got turned away, then pointed to the macaron in a box in the fridge on display right there to my friend. So as I was walking towards the bathroom, this person (different than the girl who rudely turned me away) apologized for what happened and gave me the apple cinnamon macaron as a gift. That was so sweet of them. The macaron was absolutely perfect too, it was delicious - the perfect texture of the macarons, apple filling, in the center between the cream, with the crunch from I think they were dried apple bits on the side of the cream - amazing!!! But still insanely Vegas tourist trap rip off overpriced with the macaron that person gave me worth $8.35/piece. Honey & Butter Macarons in Irvine, CA or Durian Macarons at Sweet Mood in Westminster, CA, still keep their also delicious macarons under $5 each while having cute decor/ambiance (I'll admit they're not as impressive and unique as this spot though). But they're essentially banking on tourists not knowing any better and what things should actually be worth/gouging tourists as much as they can. Essentially, you're paying for the ambiance. Definitely not paying for the crap service. Food is good, but not astronomically priced good - you're kidding yourselves. You may be able to get away with stuff like that if you're inside one of the luxurious casinos on the Strip, like Venetian, Caesars, Bellagio, etc. But especially being off-strip, get a reality check. I may come back (thanks to your anonymous employee's kind gesture giving me that macaron), but it's more just to show my parents the cool ambiance.

My family and I have supported Suzuya since the very beginning, when the first location opened on Durango. We've watched the business grow over the years, which makes this experience even more disappointing. Unfortunately, today's visit was one of the worst customer service experiences I've had. I ordered a breakfast crepe, a curry cheese sandwich, a mango mochi, and a whole cake. The breakfast items were served without any fork or knife. When I asked for utensils, there was no effort to provide them. The mango mochi was also served without utensils. When I politely asked the staff member wearing the mask for a fork, she simply replied, "You don't need utensils." That response honestly surprised me. Mango mochi is sticky and messy to eat by hand. It wasn't about the fork itself--it was the complete lack of willingness to provide even the most basic customer service. The bigger issue was when I purchased a birthday cake for a friend. I was told there were no bags available for a 6-inch cake. However, I saw other customers receiving bags. I even asked, "If I buy two more cakes, making it three cakes total, would you be able to give me a bag? I only have two hands." The answer was still no. That response simply made no sense. What made the experience even more upsetting was how I was treated because I had my service dog with me. My dog is a professionally trained service dog--not a pet. He remained calm throughout the entire visit. He never barked, never approached anyone, never disturbed other customers, and simply laid quietly beside me. Despite that, I was questioned about whether he was a service dog, whether he had a service vest, and then told that because I had my service dog with me, we would have to sit outside. I found this extremely disappointing. My dog was behaving exactly as a trained service dog should, yet I was still directed outside solely because he was with me. I sincerely hope the staff receive proper training on how to respectfully interact with customers who rely on service animals. Every customer deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. After being directed outside because of my service dog and then repeatedly being refused basic accommodations that should have been simple to provide, it became difficult not to question whether my service dog influenced the way I was treated. I truly hope that wasn't the case, but it certainly felt that way. This isn't just my opinion anymore. Many friends have shared the same experience with me over the years: the cakes are excellent, but the customer service is consistently disappointing. People return because the desserts are amazing--not because of the hospitality. Sadly, it often feels like there's no warmth or genuine care for customers. I've always heard wonderful things about Mike, and from what I've seen, he seems like a genuinely kind person. I can't help but wonder how he would feel if he knew loyal customers were leaving with experiences like this. I'm usually not someone who complains or leaves negative reviews. It takes a lot for me to write something like this. But after years of supporting this business, I believe this experience needed to be shared. Suzuya truly makes fantastic desserts, and that's exactly why this review is so disappointing for me to write. Great products should never be an excuse for poor customer service. Loyal customers deserve to feel welcomed, respected, and appreciated--not dismissed.
