Pastel Boutique to the rescue!! They came highly recommended, and I can absolutely see why. They were very responsive in their Facebook messages and not once did they make me feel bad for the short notice. They were very helpful in deciding what size we needed and upfront about the cost and everything that comes with it. The flavor options they provide feel endless! I had such a hard time choosing because so many of them sounded amazing. I had to keep reminding myself it was for my brother and not me because there were so many I wanted to selfishly try! They delivered EXACTLY what I wanted, and the cake turned out just like the inspiration photo I sent. I was a little nervous when it came time for the celebration, because in my past experiences when a cake looks great it doesn't usually taste too good. I was BLOWN AWAY by how yummy this cake was. The icing looked like fondant, but it wasn't. It was so so so much better! I've already told my husband that I want this bakery to do my own birthday cake this year! On 9/26/2025 I selected a cake design I was looking for off their website, so I called to place the order (I did say I have a topper for the cake which I was reminded of that when I picked the cake up on 10/8/2025 & that's fine). Cake, I ordered was to feed 20+ ppl and it was what I thought for a 2-tier cake. Girl who took my order was very vague and didn't ask many questions, as I think being a bakery should have. Needless to say, no one from the bakery contacted to follow-up of my order prior to my pick-up date. I called on Monday 10/6/2025 as the date needing this cake was two days away and to find out on their website the bakery is closed on Monday's and there are no recordings on their phone regarding this. After calling the bakery I sent a text message to the phone number given to me at the time of placing my order, no response until 10:09 am on Tuesday asking the name on the order and I reply immediately with no reply to my text from the bakery. I call the bakery at 11:37 am since they hadn't responded to my text and was told at first, they didn't see my order, then order sheet was found. I was told that the cake would be ready for pickup between 10:30-11:00 am on Wednesday. I didn't receive a text or phone call saying my order wouldn't be ready until later in the afternoon. I called again on Wednesday at 2:00 pm to find out if my cake was ready to be told it's being finished up now, so I requested a picture to be text to me and was told sure. At 3:28 pm I left work to pick up the cake and called on my way to find out if it was ready or not and it was. I told the baker I requested a picture of the cake to be text to me and I was told I didn't receive that message, so I asked her directly and she sent the picture of the cake. For $110 cake it wasn't anything I was expecting, I was very disappointed in the presentation of the look of it. She tried to say a contract was emailed to you and it wasn't, as I check my emails several times daily. I expressed my disapproval of the cake; it was very sad looking and the writing I requested to be added looked like a very young elementary kid wrote the wording for them. I had the writing remove, because it looked awful! Then we cut the cake to find the cake was dry, no moisture at all. A friend who loves cakes and is a baker herself told me later as she was debating on telling me the truth or not, the cake either was baked or left in the open air too long and icing wasn't good. Again, very disappointing that cake wasn't up to expectation. I will give credit to the baker as she did give me credit back to my credit card, due to their lack of attention to details. If I were in the bakery industry and a customer ordered a cake for a special event and it wasn't turning out pretty or exceptional I would send a picture of the cake to make suggestions or options to make it more appealing. Nothing like this occurred!!! I've attached pictures of the cake I wanted something similar to vs what I was given.

The final decision was my own to purchase a half of a dozen cookies to be consumed by your truly, in an effort to "try a few new flavors". Of the handful I tried, the Krumble who and semi chocolate chip really hit the mark with texture, and flavor. A soft center could be found behind every initial satisfying crunch. I'd reorder them depending on my mood without hesitation. It's nice to know that Kimmy now ships nationwide and you're also able to order beforehand. Although I personally could use a little more salt, I'll certainly think of them next time I'm in the Vintage.

Very Disappointed - Do Not Recommend for Special Events…read more I ordered a quinceañera cake from M.E.B. Cakes through Houston's Ballroom for an April 2025 event. We had a detailed design consultation, provided a specific color sample, and paid extra for custom floral decorations the bakery agreed to provide. On the event day, the cake was completely wrong--the color was a deep green that clashed with the event theme and dress, and it arrived undecorated. The bakery claimed they couldn't find the right flowers and added mismatched artificial ones at the last minute per my request. When I asked for compensation, the owner offered only another cake for a future event--not a refund. I even consulted another bakery who confirmed the extreme color difference wasn't a reasonable "weather issue" excuse. Neither M.E.B. Cakes nor Houston's Ballroom took responsibility for the disappointment. Be cautious if you're considering either vendor for a once-in-a-lifetime celebration. Note: M.E.B Cakes might offer their justifications. Simply read through other evaluations and let me know if this isn't a pattern of poor service.
