I'm honestly shocked to see the huge variety of reviews for this small family owned jeweler. Other than their posted hours clearly being wrong, I have had nothing but positive experiences with Caldrons. - I had a gold and diamond ring resized and repaired here. Richard gave fast and good quality service at an affordable price. I think it was a two day turn around and around $30. - I upgraded my wedding ring here. Custom made platinum band handmade by Richard. Yes, it's drop dead gorgeous and fantastic workmanship. I'm no jeweler so I can't debate price but we left feeling like we got a great deal. During the purchase of my new ring I lost the white gold backs to my diamond earrings and he gave me new ones free of charge. He also appraised all of my jewelry for my insurance free of charge and mailed me a certificate. I've stopped in to check on some of his vintage inventory or purchase gifts and Every time I've been in he offers to clean my jewelry for me. My only hope/wish is that I can figure out when they're actually open (locals say they have been during the week) so I can get another piece repaired because it's past due in needing to be done. This place blew me away! I had my mother's original wedding ring that had been fixed/altered after a prong broke. My mother was devastated because the original jeweler fixing the ring did more damage than good. They decided to take the center stone out and put it in a completely different setting. So what was left of a 35 yr old ring was massive holes, broken prongs and 1 small diamond. I decided to take her ring and see if a jeweler could melt it down and make in into a sold band with the remaining diamond in the middle. This was going to be a difficult task because the holes were so large I was not sure if they would be able to fill them in with what gold was remaining. Well...This place did and the ring looks beautiful! They completed my repair in 2 days (when they told me it would be a week). Not only were they able to create a sold (hole free) band but they were able to move the diamond with no problem. This place was amazing from costumer service, speed/turnaround, quality to price. Not only was my ring borderline unrepairable, but they did it for $150 which is nothing compared to the sentimental value of having my parents original wedding ring look beautiful and not in shambles. Caldrons Jewelers made our wedding rings custom per our request (Comfort fit bands, with imbedded diamonds in the band, made from Platinum). They turned out AMAZING and the price was great. Fast forward 15 years and a stone fell out of my ring (I do Construction work) so lots of abuse on my hands. I expected to pay for a repair but they did it for FREE!!! Our rings still look great and I get lots of compliments on my ring. TRUST THIS MAN WITH YOUR MOST IMPORTANT JEWELRY PURCHASES!!! They will get all my business because they have earned it. I used them twice and both times not happy. One of the times I brought them my wedding ring for resizing only. When item picked up, not only did they resized my ring but they melted the ring and band together. That was NOT what I requested. I then noticed my receipt did not indicate what the repair requested was only the the customer name and price for the work. They messed up the look of my wedding ring. Once you leave the item how do they know what the customer wanted if they don't complete the order form correctly. Never again after the second mistake. read more

Old guy that works here is a CROOK. For $20 they "fixed" my husbands necklace by melting gold down and sticking it back together where the chain had broken.. and it lasted about a month and is already coming apart. So we took it back asking what can be done and he wants us to pay him again for his bad work. We paid you to fix it and you DIDNT fix it. read more

We drove 45 mins to get here (on Valentine's Day) the woman on the phone said as long as you're here before 6, the person who works on watches will be there to help us. When we arrived at 5:30 the older guy was extremely rude and basically brushed us off like we didn't matter. He didn't even ask what we needed to get done. After telling him he could have said on the phone that he planned on closing 20 minutes before he told us prior during our conversation- all he had to say (many times) was "you have a nice day". read more

Ring resizing was reasonably priced, they finished a day sooner than they anticipated, called immediately and everyone was nice. The 2 young ladies who helped me figure out my ring size really took a lot of time having me switch back and forth between two sizes of .5 difference to make sure I was really getting the right one which I really appreciated. I was going to go with a bigger size but they convinced me to go with the smaller one. I was so nervous that they would feel tight and uncomfortable wearing both rings but SO GLAD I listened to these girls, they fit PERFECTLY:) I haven't been able to wear my rings since my first child was born 2 years ago so beyond excited and thankful for Caldrons. I got my engagement ring sized down 6 years ago at Kay's and they charged much more and took eight weeks to resize it so happy to support and awesome family owned business this time around. read more

I have been in this shop a few times. Once for a minor repair. In that case the necklace was expertly repaired and the price was reasonable. The second time I went in was for a question about an antique pocket watch. The Jeweler told me the history of the watch, opened it up to tell me whether it needed to be cleaned, and also identified the metal it was made from. He even performed a minor fix while I was there. All of this info AND THE MINOR FIX was free and I will definitely be back for any future jewelry needs. This place has a small town feel and the gentlemen who works there is honest and friendly. I had been here previously for minor repairs in an attempt to support small and local businesses. However, I will not be returning again. I went in for a minor adjustment and when I inquired about what appeared to be a simple fix, I was insulted on the jewelry design (which I had custom made). I did not comment and rather inquired further about the adjustment and was insulted two more times. The jeweler "did not like" the jewelry, entirely inconsequential and did not feel comfortable doing the adjustment. (Note: the following day, I went to another jeweler and the simple adjustment was made in minutes). I had another request and was told that it was "too expensive". I guess the man who helped me thinks he has enough business already as he was not willing to assist in either matter. I will not be supporting this local business any further. This is a great jewelry shop in Downtown Tracy. Very friendly and very helpful. I recently went to this establishment to have a ring re-sized. The work was done in house by the owner himself and it was delivered within the time that it was promised. Rich stated that he would call and he did on the day that the item was promised. I have been into this place before but have never had the chance to review the business as it was for minor things. Once, we needed a wrist watch fixed and it was done instantaneously, free of charge. Another time was for batteries to be replaced and the price was fairly inexpensive. This place is not just about price but about value. They seem to really value customers here without regard to how much income a particular service or product a customer can generate. I would even recommend folks to look into this shop for custom made jewelry as they do offer customization. I couldn't help but to overhear folks buying already made jewelry and it looks as if the price you see isn't the price you pay. They are willing to work with the buyer on most of everything they have to sell which is rare for most businesses. read more

Never once did I become irate when he told me I would need to leave my ring, any person with common sense would not leave their very expensive wedding ring at a Jewelry shop they have never been too! I would have been more then happy to wait or come back at a more convenient time had he said that. I would not expect him to drop everything but I clearly did not expect him to start speaking of me not trusting him when all I said was "I didn't like to leave it". I can't say enough good things about this jewelry store. I had three gold chains repaired, and the price was very reasonable. I inherited some of my mom's jewelry when she passed a few months ago. I took her wide gold wedding band in and was thinking of getting it melted down to create two gold wedding bands, one for me and my sister. So I took my $600 Watch in to have the cracked glass replaced. 3 weeks later I stopped by to see if it was ready. They said not yet. 2 days later received a call from the owner saying it was ready to be picked up. I show up and they tried to give me a $29 watch. They then said the correct watch was sent out to his "glass cutter"?. I was told it would be ready by Friday. Keep in mind, we are going into 1 month now. I called on Friday, he then said it will be ready on Wednesday. The least the owner could have offered me was a discount for the inconvenience and mix up.
