Ok, these guys are always friendly and good with pets. That's one thing that I love about this place. But the best part is yet to come. They have a dog washing station. With the 90lb German Sheppard I got, there is nothing better than to be able to use someone else's shower to wash your pet. I agree with all of the positive feed back here. I shop there for my Fur Person ( he does not like the "D" word ) They are really into customer service and well informed. My dog is very picky when it comes to food and They have been very helpful in explaining what makes a good healthy dog food and ways to encourage Dodger to eat it. My BFF and I wandered over 1 day, she knows this place, I didn't.....(Yep, another reason why she's my BFF!) They have a Great selection of durable toys for active pals!! I used to get my dog's expensive EVO food here. The food is awesome and I do not have any complaint about it. My only complaint, and the reason I will no longer shop here, is due to the pet birds they sell in their store. I can't believe that in 2015 pet stores in the US are still supporting the breeding and selling of intelligent, exotic birds destined to live the rest of their lives in a cage. It broke my heart to see a huge green-winged macaw (red) sitting in a small cage waiting for someone stupid enough to buy a bird that lives 50 to 80 years, outliving most of their owners. Birds should not be in the cage, especially a majestic macaw. So sad! DO NOT BUY EXOTIC BIRDS, THEY DO NOT MAKE GOOD PETS. read more

I am not sure where to even begin. Besides the fact that they are the only store in town that carries healthy, speciality dog food, it is the customer service that kept us as loyal clients for over 15 years. When are last dog got bone cancer, they helped with decisions on what was best to feed him. And when he would no longer wanted that food, they allowed us to exchange unused items. In the end, when he seemed to prefer people food, they were encouraging for us to do just that, with no pressure to buy any of their food. Rachel, was a so incredibly sweet during such a hard time...as well as the other workers. I only wish I could give more than 5 stars. read more

If you had a large breed dog Do Not Use their self service dog wash. I went in their yesterday I normally use Dee's self service but they are closed on Sunday's so I thought I would try here. I have an Akita if anyone knows the breed they know they have 3 layers of fur. I paid for it then they handed a token I asked what was it for they stated it was for the water that it runs for 20 min What? I can't turn the water on get him wet turn the water off wash him then turn it back on to rinse him she stated no the water will continue to run for 20 min. (wasting water) I stated that my dog has 3 layers of fur I need to scrub him really well and that takes time what if i run out of time? She stated i would have to pay again for another token. Really? I go to give my dog a bath not to have to rush and not do it well. So since I paid I went ahead and went in. I got my dog up in the small tub, I went too hook him up to the collar thing they have to hold the dog I put the coin in and there was no water pressure at all. I was like how the hell am i going to wash my 3 layer fur dog in 20 min? as i am trying to wet him down my dog moved and the thing that was holding him popped off the wall he jumped out of the tub he shook water went ever where the sprayer kept going so now i am trying to get my 140 pound wet dog back up in the tub slipping all over finally got him back in the little tub rushing to get him soaped up and rinsed. I told my daughter to go ask for a towel since there was nothing in the room they told my daughter sorry we don't have towel. I was soaked not to mention i hurt my leg from slipping. plus with big dogs you let them shake then towel dry them before you dry them. after all that i go to turn on the dryer i am trying to dry him an hour later he is still wet. its cold outside i am not taken a wet dog out almost 2 hours to get him so what dry. i go to leave i am still soaked i told the guy that worked there my dog isn't that nice what does he do twice he tries to walk right in front of my dog. OMG... my anxiety was sky high by the time i left plus i was so cold & wet i had to go home and dry my dog some more at home. a job that normally takes me an hour took me 3 hours. Never again will I go here. when you see the ad for large breed dogs for their self service DON'T DO IT... this place it made only for small dogs. read more

Just outstanding! I've been going there for years. I used to work in Modesto and surrounding area and it was convenient. Now that I'm retired I drive from French Camp, as they're so awesome it's worth the drive. When taking my dog on the leash was miserable, they showed me a handy little product to attached to his leash & collar and tested it out on him to see if it truly would work -- worked in under 5 minutes, and has worked for me ever since. When there was there was the huge pet food scare some years back and when certain brands had problems, they were the 1st ones pulling this stuff and they are always staying informed and ensuring the good health of our pets. They simply care and they're knowledgeable, and that's a rare thing these days in any business. I was passing through Modesto and needed to grab some dog food, and I saw that this store carried my favorite brands. They had an excellent selection of high-quality dog food, that were grain-free with healthy proteins. I remember having some trouble finding places that sold great food here when I've visited in the past, so I was excited to discover Caldron's. They also had some toys as well - I picked up a couple Benebones. These were nylon/plastic chew toys with natural flavoring that dogs can gnaw on but they don't break apart, and they aren't dangerous like rawhides, not smelly like some bully sticks, and not messy like raw bones. Perfect for rainy days inside. The prices were reasonable. read more
