She was so communicative and compassionate from start to finish. She did recommendations and gave good feedback for grooming style for my dog and I am definitely booking my next grooming appointment with her! EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING & DISRESPECTFUL EXPERIENCE I'm beyond disappointed with the service and treatment we received at the PetSmart on Sisk Road in Modesto -- specifically the grooming department. We arrived early in the morning, unaware that while the store itself doesn't open until 9 or 10 AM, the grooming department opens at 8 AM. We waited patiently at the front, unsure of how to proceed, and eventually called the store number to get assistance. When someone from the grooming department finally picked up, we were met with immediate hostility and an incredibly disrespectful attitude. The woman on the phone proceeded to lecture us about not having time to deal with us because she was "in the middle of grooming a customer that actually showed up on time." Her tone was condescending, unprofessional, and completely uncalled for. We were trying to clarify where to go and what to do -- not looking to be insulted or demeaned. When we expressed our frustration and let her know we could easily take our business elsewhere, she flat-out suggested that we do just that. That level of disrespect is appalling -- especially coming from a place that is supposed to care for people's pets. Needless to say, we won't be returning. I will not only be leaving this review, but I will also be contacting the store manager and escalating this to the regional manager. If this is how PetSmart allows their grooming staff to treat paying customers, they've lost more than just our business. Avoid this location if you expect basic courtesy and respect. Yady did not treat my dog with care. I dropped my dog off 1:15. My dog was not ready because Yady decided to take her lunch. She didn't return til 2:50 when I asked for my dog because I was starting to get worried. When she returned from her lunch my dog still didn't have his nails trimmed. She didn't want to cut his nails so cut only one nail which bleed all over my arm. She came back out and said that's all she could do due to him biting. But I made her aware when I dropped him off that he will show his teeth but not bite. So tell me why she decided to leave his nails for last. Rushing and cutting my dogs quick isn't gonna benefit the groomer or the dog. Cutting a dog's quick is gonna make a dog bite. He is a 10Ib mini pini. read more

I was browsing the ID tags and she kept saying you need to come over here you need to come over here. I was browsing not checking out. Needless to say I found them overpriced, impatient, rude, I didn't even get a chance to browse. Plus I found them for $5 less in their competition. I'll shop there. I always have such a great experience at this location. I have a reactive aussie puppy who is terrified of people and the employees here have always tried to make her feel comfortable by giving her a treat. This store is also well organized and clean every time I come in. I love that they have a scale towards the back of the store so I could weight my dogs when I go in, it helps when you have a growing pup. This is definitely my go to PetSmart! read more

I have brought my two babies Barry & Lily to PetSmart grooming for the past year or so. This is my honest experience and can only speak for myself. I was very hesitant to bring my dogs here because of stories you hear but I decided to give them a shot since they are close to my home. They have been groomed here 3 or 4 times here already, and every time the experience has been great. These are my babies so I can say this, they are brats they are all bark and no bite so taking them in public together is always a struggle. The grooming team has never made me feel uncomfortable or like my babies are brats Joey is great with my dogs and is always so friendly. Yadi was who was appointed to groom them the first time and I have just kept with her since my dogs know her and she is also amazing. She listens to what I ask and always leaves my babies so cute! My dogs have never expressed a dislike for Yadi and I am so grateful that she takes such good care of my babies, it really gives me peace of mind leaving them with her. If I could give less than 1 star I would . The staff was so nice at first but then I met Crystal in the fish department . I was with my friend who wanted to purchase an aquarium and a little goldfish , me and my friend have both owned many fishies before this and they all lived happy long lives with us . However miss crystal did not care and was very rude to us telling us that we should buy the fish and the tank separately so that the tank could be set up before we introduce the fish to it . Now I appreciate the concern and the advice however we've never done this with any of our fishes in the past and they were all fine and lived happy long lives . So we told her we wanted to get the fish anyways despite her advice , she at this point then proceeded to tell my friend and I that he will out grow his tank rather quickly (we already knew this as he is a goldfish and they can grow quite fast and quite large) however the kicker of the whole situation was when she flat out said . And I quote " because you aren't setting up the tank separately from him he's likely not gonna make it after 48hr period he'll be dead. " so apparently crystal is the only person in the whole world who knows how to take care of fishes . My friend decided after hearing all of her rude comments that she no longer wanted a goldfish and just wanted to go home. Now I'm not sure why miss crystal decided this was ok but when we asked her about it she immediately became hostile and defensive , calling us an unsafe home for animals and was saying that if she gave us the fish he would die because she sold him to us and that she should've refused the sale to us to begin with when we didn't wanna take her advice . Bottom line: miss crystals attitude and behavior was not ok she was dramatic and aggressive for no reason she was also shameful towards us which also isn't ok . I genuinely hope petsmart corporate and or management see this and that they take corrective actions . read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. Purchased a Thundershirt for my dog for Fourth of July. I was told by the Manteca location that I could return it if it didn't fit. I took it to this horrible Modesto store (not the first time I have had a terrible experience), and was told that because there was hair on it (it was too large and my dog has an undercoat, is shedding like crazy because of the 100° plus heat and her pure terror from the fireworks), that I couldn't return it. There's minimal hair and the manager was extremely rude and gave me attitude as soon as she walked up to the check stand. NEVER take your pet here. NEVER purchase anything from the Modesto location. They also have supplies, kits, animal food, and much more! 100% Recommend Petsmart. But if you don't find exactly what you want, I also recommend Petco. First time, and last time to this location. Went to pick up my online order and happened to walk by the out in the open, doorless shelf used for picked online orders (which was by close to other shelves with other products). I saw my unpackaged, unbagged order with the receipt taped to it and took it up to the register. A middle aged, very rude female worker with dark hair reamed me for taking it off the shelf, so I put it back and went to stand under the 'Pick Up' red dot at the front of the store, but she reamed me again for putting the items back! She rudely told me I was "going to wait" to be helped now, walked away, and kept scowling at me. Another female worker helped me and said I shouldn't go over there because there was "confidential customer information", but everything was out in the open and not protected. The orders weren't in the locked cabinet, there was no signage indicating the area was off limits to customers, and the shelving wasn't in a restricted access area of the store. I'm sure the first lady was having a bad night, but to verbally attack someone, and continue to scowl, in front of other customers and staff is uncalled for and extremely unprofessional. And, why are they leaving confidential customer information out to open?? I won't return to this location. read more

This is my favorite Pet store in Modesto! I only come here for cat supplies and cat food so I can't review much of any other services they provide! But I always get coupons/discounts through my email set up with them. It helps me save money on the expensive cat food my cat has to eat (Hills Science Diet) One time I bought the wrong bag and they let me exchange it, no issues at all! And my cat ate out of it for a day and they said it was still fine. The cashiers are always super friendly too! read more

They left my dog half shaved, they should be ashamed! Terrible grooming services. I should have just waited for a reputable grooming service appointment, but was anxious because my dog's hair had grown quite a bit and there was matting. The Petsmart groomer's name was Yazy and she appeared to be miserable at her job, very unpleasant. Not only was she terrible with humans she was even worse with dogs. She began to complain that my dog's hair was matted. I asked her "If you cannot handle it I will take my dog elsewhere." She stated that she could do it, but would call if my dog was uncooperative." She seemed to lack confidence in her skills as a groomer and I felt uncomfortable leaving my dog with her. In hindsight, I should have taken my dog and left, but instead I stayed closeby so I could check on my dog. An hour later I went in and asked how my dog was doing. They brought him out from the back and he looked terrible.The groomer shaved him, but left his face and paws untouched. The groomer stated that my dog was growling so she stopped and left him half shaved. The other groomer suggested that I take my dog to a veterinary to be sedated and have the rest of his hair shaved (Ridiculous!).To add insult to injury they charged $30 for "dematting!" I will never take my dog to Petsmart again and will schedule with a professional grooming service from now on. I'll post a picture tommorow because my little guy is asleep. read more

Well, the new PetSmart on Sisk has finally opened. It is so nice to have a PetSmart closer to my home than the one on McHenry. The store is really huge inside. There is a lot of empty space towards the back of the store which seems kind of strange, but whatever. This location also has kitties for adoption. It is different than the one on McHenry which has the animals in cages. This location has the animals behind glass. They had some really cute kitties when I was in there the other day. Meow! Nice selection of pet food and supplies. My doggie loves how the sales clerks give her treats. Chomp chomp! read more

I went I to Petsmart today to look for some new food for our puppy who did not like the previous food we got her. I went up to an employee to find out what food to get since this is our first dog I was clueless. Her name was Whitney. I explained what I needed and she was so happy to help me. She showed me multiple brands of dog food and explained thoroughly the benefits of each one. I asked her so many questions and not once did I feel like I was annoying her, she was genuinely trying to help me find the perfect food for my pup and that made it just an awesome experience. She is extremely knowledgeable and extremely kind and overall an awesome person!! I will definitely be coming back to this Petsmart just for Whitney!! read more

Crystal, store associate is very rude and i will go as far to say, cruel with her 'sales' . went in with my 21 yr. old daughter who wanted to buy her own goldfish and supplies. Crystal very assertively advised her not to buy fish until had full set up for 24 hours. this is not how generations has done it but im aware its an option. talked over with daughter and she wanted to get fish anyways. I let Crystal know that we heard the advice and she wants to get the gold fish anyhow. She gave a face wince of disapproval but when she was getting the fish she proceeded AGAIN to state that 'since not doing as she said, they will likely be dead by morning' so then my daughter very upset by her rudeness and brash words, said she no longer wanted the fish and proceeded to put all items back. So i stepped in and addressed how that was not necessary for her to be that way, she then said, "your right, i should have just refused the sale to you". her attitude was rude , borderline hostile. I will never return to this location. I told her she advised and she did not need to reiterate it again and to be so rude. She became argumentative and I had to just stop before I matched her attitude. I am very disappointed the store has this kind of person employed yet a 'lead'. she really is not suited for customer service at all. i see why it already has low review. I have been bringing my dog here for awhile and always call before hand to make sure they're not busy or to set up an appointment to bring my pet in. I called and was told they're available to go ahead and come in. I came in and there's just one girl there working on a dog already and I let her know I just called and was told to come in and she apologized saying they are short staffed only 2 employees. So I walk out because the dog she was working on was getting excited and so was mine so I walked out and came back. Once they were done with mine I walked back in to get an invoice and got down to fix my dogs harness and the first girl from earlier walks and starts talking about me saying I was rude for saying that I called before hand. I'm sorry that I called before hand to make sure you weren't busy and I actually asked for an appointment when I could've been told over the phone that they're short staffed today but instead was told to come right in. I call to be sure they're not busy and not just walk in but instead I walk in to be called rude. I don't know what happened to the customers always right. If anything I was letting her know that whoever is answering phones is saying you guys aren't busy. I won't be coming back here. She also was pulling my dog by her harness instead of putting one of their leashes on her like they always do but just was pulling her harness instead which I did not understand my dog is a 50lb dog. read more

The store is super clean and has a lot of good clearance items and prices. The people are super nice. We took our dog in and for like $50 she came out beautiful. I came here today to find a new brand of cat food for my cat after having trouble with the Authority brand. Whitney was the one assisting me and let me tell you. It is hard to find people these days that truly love their job and Whitney is one of them. She spent over 10 minutes with me going over the different brands, price points, and ingredients and I ended up finding a food that my cat loves. So disappointed. I am not one of those picky dog people- I take my dog to PetSmart because it is easy and convenient and I don't normally care... but this was a WASTE of money. I asked for my dogs legs/feet to be groomed short because he gets stickers and I was taking him hiking. I just had to do it myself and ended up with a HUGE pile of hair. Basically they did almost nothing. And one of his feet the nails were long! I guess they couldn't see under all the hair they didn't cut. Also- I also needed new flea med so I took him to the vet the same week after his groom for a checkup-- his anal glands were full. I also had to express those myself. WHY DID I PAY YOU TO DO IT?? I have been bringing my dog here for years and have had mostly good experiences. However, I'm pretty upset about my most recent one. My dog, Butters, was recently diagnosed with Stage IV Cancer. When I informed the employee of this while dropping him off for his grooming appointment she said "Okay". Less than empathetic response, but okay? Some people are uncomfortable discussing ailment/disability and may not know how to talk about it. I shrugged it off. I pick him up later that day and the same employee checked me out. She said, "I accidentally clipped his neck while I was shaving him; but he will be okay." No apology. Nothing. I looked at his neck and there was an area about 1" long that had been skinned. It was pink and not actively bleeding, so I left. Fast forward to yesterday (10/05/2023), I notice a very dark scab with pus seeping from the sides. The skin surrounding the scab looks infected. I called and was told a manager would call me today. It's still early, but I haven't heard from anyone yet. I'm really upset about this experience. My dog has never been hurt like this during a grooming appointment. I don't like how the employee brushed it off and didn't discuss options with me in case the cut did lead to infection. Perhaps she needs more training. I honestly felt she didn't have my dogs best interest in mind and I'll be going elsewhere here on out. read more

I have had my german shepherd groomed at Pet Smart in Manteca, Ca and Panama City Beach, Fl always a 5 star experience! I took her today 6/21/22 to the Modesto, Ca store it wasn't a good experience in the grooming dept. My husband and I were not greeted by the groomer at all it was like we were interrupting her morning. The next groomer came out no greeting, no smiles just took our information and took our girl to the back. Feeling a little uncomfortable we figured everyone has a bad morning at times. No we had the same treatment when we picked her up. I will not be returning to the modesto store! read more

Amazing isn't it how a review written one day after Karen G's FTR is somehow lost??? Guess someone didn't like it so must have flagged it and Yelp in it's infinite wisdom removed it. lmfao. Anyway I frequent this store due to the fact that they always have the dog food that is needed for Cianna. In fact it's the only food that she will eat. You know how that goes, female, fussy. :) The staff here are always pleasant and willing to help a person when you can't find what you are looking for, or, they always have some very good suggestions for alternatives. Love this new location! It's closer to my work, so it is super easy to stop in and pick up supplies on my way home. The store is clean, well organized, and full of super friendly staff. Recently, I began taking my puppy in for training at this location. I love that the training area is off to the side so the doggies don't get to distracted. Even when we walk through the aisles we don't get interrupted often. Cindy, on of the trainers, is AMAZING with the dogs. She really understands and take the time with us to make sure we understand the method behind the training. Haven't tried the grooming salon yet (our dogs are on file at McHenry), but it looks clean and how a grooming salon should. read more
