Great spot for bbq, friendly staff! We visited the Queen Creek location and had a great meal. We split the sampler the meat was very tender and fell right off the bone. The sauces are great! Shopping at American home furniture can make you hungry, and luckily this place is right across the parking lot! When we walked up to the counter to order, we were handed a sample of moist brisket that fell apart immediately. Hubby ordered himself some of that, while I opted for the tried and true Pulled pork sandwich on a soft Hawaiian roll. My Side of Mac n cheese was creamy and flavorful. The Coleslaw was crisp and cool and tasted great on top of the sandwich. The Potato salad was the only low point. It was relatively bland and boring. They offer a pile of crisp and fresh onions, pickles, red and green jalapeños. We had two employees check on us while we were eating, and one even got us extra pickles! Yum! I went at lunch time yesterday and the line was out the door but it moved fast. The employees were all very friendly and the food was excellent! The sweet & hot bbq sauce has so much flavor but the real stand out was the mac & cheese. Delicious! I could eat that every day. We drove all the way from the west valley to go for my birthday (March 20th) lunch and it was so worth the drive. It was amazing! Our great experience started right away when we were offered samples of yumminess and continued the entire time we were there. We got to meet Ben who will be the manager for the new westside location YES! We were even given extra bbq sauce when someone noticed how much food we were packing to take home..we purposely ordered extra food so we could experience more yumminess. The food was so good, hot, flavorful, tender and more tender. We had ribs, pulled pork, brisket, sausage and ohhhh and my husband had the General Sandwich. I think its named that because it generally has all the meats on the menu . Oh and the beans were perfect. The corn casserole...I would drive an hour again to get more it was so delicious. We sat outside and it was just a fantastic experience. They have their staff come around and clean the table off almost as quick as someone leaves. Can't go wrong with stopping by Caldwell's! We came 15 minutes before they opened at 11:00 and the parking lot was completely full with a line forming! I had the Pavo Sandwich (which comes with a side) and the corn casserole - delicious! A great portion of food for the price! The turkey was absolutely delicious and juicy, and the corn casserole was out of this world! We loved the choices of sauces, I stuck with my favorite the mustard sauce. Amazing! For two people, with two drinks, it was about $30. The outdoor seating and patio area were really pretty and nicely decorated. Where is the 6th star? This Kansas City girl (and aspiring KCBS judge) is always looking for good BBQ in the Phoenix area and when we travel elsewhere. For several years I have been known to say that there is only 1 BBQ place in Phoenix worth eating at, but now I have to say there is indeed another. One of my co-workers who lives in Gilbert mentioned this place to me several weeks ago and I finally found myself out that way and decided to grab some dinner to go. First of all, they are doing a good job with Covid precautions. There is a tall Plexiglas screen in front of the carving station (which is always a good idea) that gives several feet of protection and everyone I saw in the food service line was wearing gloves and masks. And they have spaces marked on the floor to keep your distance. Finally, the patio is lovely and the tables appear to be spaced well and they are abundant. I suspect that part of the parking lot was given up for the eating area, but I had no trouble getting a spot on a Saturday at 5:30. There is not a lot on the menu, which makes it easy. You tell the meat slicers what you want and they cut it and weigh it. I am a burnt end fan, and they were happy to accommodate me with some beautiful charred goodness and they even had some crunchy barky stuff in the pulled pork so I added just a bit to taste it. And to round out the meats, I got 2 ribs. The rub they use is clearly salt and pepper based as I could taste plenty of both and it definitely seemed to be Texas style. The ribs were perfect for me. They didn't fall off of the bone, until you had it in your mouth. No tugging or pulling needed, and every bit of the meat came right off. The sides we got were great (beans and the corn casserole) as well. My only complaint is that there are no fries or onion rings, but I rarely find either at Texas style places. I guess I will be finding excuses to get back out that way. read more

Well it's not a good find . It's like your traditional barbecue place and wait in line for your food and made it more high end but the bbq wasn't. My original visit four years ago was made shortly after opening and I am sure it was a huge task. Finally went back to give them another try and they absolutely knocked it out of the park. The food was spot on. The brisket was amazing. It was juicy and tender with an incredible bark on it. The turkey was incredibly moist and tender. They have Bug Red in a bottle. I absolutely love this place so I decided to stop in for the birthday deal that they offer ($15 off) and I thought it was kind of strange that after mentioning to 3 of the employees that it was my birthday, none of them wished me. My order was ready on time , however, I did have to wait a few minutes because someone else was getting their order at the same time. I was impressed that he went over my order with me and noticed something was missing and took care of it. We loaded my car, and he was friendly and energetic. When I arrived at my workplace and taking the items into the meeting, one of the pans was greasy, so it not only got on me, but the carpet in my car. I would recommend getting more user friendly lids for the foil pans as I cut three fingers on the sharp edges of the lids. Two were superficial, however, one was pretty deep. It's not pleasant to cut fingers at all, however, when there are 20 people sitting in a meeting and I have blood running down my hand in front of them, that is not acceptable. I thought fast and grabbed a napkin and wrapped around it until I had time to go to my desk for neosporin and a band aid. The food was very good. If it weren't for the greasy pan and sharp lids, five stars would have been earned. I will probably still take my family there, however, most likely will not order catering again. I did leave out one food issue; the potatoes in the potato salad were a bit hard and should have been cooked longer. read more

Delicious Texas style bbq. The brisket was the clear winner - tender and flavorful. The pulled pork, ribs and turkey were all wonderful as well. Sides included cole slaw, beans and Mac & cheese - all seemed freshly made and had great flavor and balance. The menu is tough to decipher as it's only sold by the pound and lunch for two with a couple of sides and drinks ended up costing $65. I think that a welcome addition would be a 2 or 3 item combo for $15-20 per person with 1-2 sides included. This way my son wouldn't have eaten all of the brisket. Well done. Good BBQ is hard to come by in Arizona. I always told friends and family there were two spots you HAVE to try when visiting AZ: Little Miss and Eric's family BBQ. After trying Caldwell's recently for the first time, that list has grown to three. They say one star Michelin's are good restaurants, two stars signify a detour, and three stars you plan an entire trip around. Caldwell's is a three star Michelin restaurant in my opinion.
