Good service and the surroundings were clean and uplifting. Food was very good with generous portions. We would definitely eat there again.

Great little spot at the end of Peddler's Village. We enjoyed the freshness of the dishes we tried during Restaurant Week but were a bit disappointed in the quantity of the food. Everything was good but the plates were somewhat small. We'd go back again if we were in the area but wouldn't make a special trip to do it. Our waitress Tia was very attentive and great at her job. We decided to visit Peddlers Village with friends and we're looking for a nice place for dinner. We searched Open Table and Yelp when we came across Caleb's. The restaurant gives a warm homey type of feel and the staff is attentive to your needs. Our waitress, Hollene, was fantastic. Her recommendations for both appetizer and entree were spot on . Among the four dinners that came out all were prepared well with exceptional presentation and taste. The appetizers of lobster egg roll and crab taco were outstanding. Even the coffee and pound cake dessert was off the charts. This place is a diamond in the rough and a must if your in new hope or peddlers village areas.... read more

I usually do my homework before selecting a restaurant for my husband Glenn and myself. We stayed at Peddler's Village...The Golden Plough Inn. For dinner Monday night we came to Caleb's. It was our first time here and not our last! As we entered the restaurant we were greeted by Caleb..it's owner/ chef, what a friendly and courteous gentleman who walked around to check on every patron and got acquainted with his quests. This place was designed with a modern crisp flair. The food's presentation and quality was top notch. It was Buck's Co. Restaurant Week with a special 3 course menu. It cost $34.00 for each complete meal. The portions were perfect size and it's freshness and flavor was impeccable. We both loved our dinners from appetizers to dessert and server Ashley was a pleasure too. We'd highly recommend Caleb's for breakfast, lunch and especially dinner. We just did Caleb's Curbside dining during this Carona Virus epidemic and my husband and I would both say "Run don't walk" to do the same. We had a meal that was both delicious and so satisfying to our heart and soul at this isolating time. We had the turkey dinner. It consisted of beautiful white meat turkey which was so tasty and also well seasoned and very moist. It also came with a very large portion of mixed, fresh vegetables in a medley that included red peppers, peas, carrots and several others which were cooked perfectly and again seasoned just right, not at all bland. We also had mashed potatoes and my favorite, sage bread stuffing. I'm a stuffing aficionado and this was among the best bread stuffing I've ever had. I wanted my turkey without gravy and my husband with gravy and Caleb accommodated us both. The process was completely easy; we ordered it by phone, pulled up with our car at the hour we ordered it be ready and it was delivered to our car piping hot. My wife and I have had brunch and lunch at Caleb's several times, and usually enjoyed ourselves. Last night was the second time we had dinner there, and the second time we didn't have a great experience. Both the food and service were disappointing, especially for the price. After hearing about the specials, my wife ordered the halibut, which came on a bed of farro cooked with tomatoes, green beans, and calamata olives. I ordered the burger, but I wanted something fairly simple and burgers at Caleb's are pretty "fancy" so I asked if I could create my own from the items that they put on the burgers. The server said yes, so I asked for the roasted red onion and tomatoes. Also, I love farro, so I asked if I could have a side of the farro that comes with the halibut as my side - which the server also said should not be a problem. The server then left, and said that the bread was warming and should be right out. After about 10 minutes (with no one coming over to the table) I flagged down our server and asked if the bread would be ready soon. She was apologetic, and the busser came over with bread a couple of minutes later. The meals looked good when they brought them over. My wife's halibut was supposed to be pan sauted with pesto. It was a nice piece of halibut and well cooked (moist in the center, with a nick crust from the saute), but there couldn't have been more than a quarter teaspoon of the pesto on top. My hamburger had very few onions, and 3 slices of tomato which had little flavor with a small bowl (about 2/3 cup) of plain farro on the side - no tomatoes, green beans or olives. We didn't want to make a fuss, but when the bus was walking by we hailed him and my wife asked for some lemon to put on the halibut, as well as a refill of the water for the table. After waiting between 5 and 10 minutes (by which time the fish was cold) I stood up to try to find someone to serve us - our server saw me and came over. We told her what had happened, and she said "I'm not surprised" - I guess this busser is not very good. She later apologized, and said that she felt bad because she got hung up with other tables. Our last somewhat unpleasant surprise was when the bill came - $52 for a hamburger and an entree. The halibut was $32 and my hamburger, which was supposed to be $13, had an additional charge for the side of farro. We will probably try brunch again - our experience has been better there, but we will definitely not be back for dinner. Overpriced, mediocre meals, and fair to poor service. read more

Very disappointed. It started with no one to greet you and having to wait for someone to stop and finely ask. Tables were empty but not cleared/clean and had to still wait. Menu's were not explained for a Sunday. Waitress although nice was not attentive, she looked busy but not for the customers. Long waits for the food which you could see was done but no one there to pick them up, again waiting. Lots of wait staff but all stood around and still dirty tables. Seemed very unorganized and no clear direction. Also the bathrooms needed to be attended to and were not. Over all the food wasn't half bad but will probably not return due to overall experience. This place is a triple threat. Best breakfast in Bucks County, fabulous BYOB Dinner, & I dare you to find a tastier burger for lunch. All of Caleb's menus are excellent, but it has become my go-to breakfast destination in the area. I visit at least once/week. It's so refreshing to have a local breakfast spot that's NOT A DINER. The food (despite the time of day) is always excellent-fresh & beautifully prepared. You're sure to be impressed by their upscale cuisine & charmed by their friendly hospitality. read more

Caleb's is a solid choice for dinner. We went and each had appetizers and entrees, all of which were quite good. Tempura fried peppers and the grilled romaine salad as appetizers were very good. Main courses of chicken breast and scallops were excellent, the diver scallops with celery root puree and pork belly with beans were extraordinary. We split a lemon cheese cake for dessert and it was also outstanding, even the after dinner coffee was good. Don't forget that it is BYOB. We'll be back. read more

Caleb's recent Friend of the Farmer dinner was a sumptuous, seasonal treat. Creative courses included calamari served with a delicate fan of local apple slivers. The pumpkin ravioli tasted good enough to be dessert. A rare combo of beets and potato au gratin gave surprising shock of RED to the flank steak entree. The generous four course menu culminated in the choice of: the fluffiest cheesecake I had ever tasted or local apple/pear crumble with perfect cinnamon ice cream. Caleb is endlessly innovative and a real gift to the county with his frequent events that benefit the community. We can't get enough !! read more

I loved this place. It's charming and intimate. And the food rocks! The service is terrific.

Odd service experience: 1. My party arrived on the earlier side of the evening to an almost empty restaurant. Only one other couple was seated. Our server wanted to seat us directly next to the other occupied table, with our chairs potentially bumping into them and a lack of conversation privacy. Before we sat, I asked to please be seated at a similar table on the other side of the almost-vacant room. The waitress/hostess oddly seemed surprised. 2. The same waitress/hostess poured warm white BYOB wine into two glasses before I could ask her to pause. Plentiful ice buckets were available against the wall. I gently stopped her from pouring a third, asking to please wait until it was chilled in the normal way. She strangely offered to bring over ice cubes to place in the warm wine. Sure, this is done at home on occasion, but is inappropriate for normal restaurant service. I carefully poured the warm wine from my glass back into the bottle and tried to not appear rude in doing so, as the server was hovering. The bottle was eventually chilled in the ice bucket, per basic serving skills. End result: Ok. Process: Weird. 3. Only two pieces of each type of delicious bread were offered for our party of three. We requested more after finishing the basket, so that all three of us could taste it at the same time. Two vs. three were then brought out again. Strange service experience, yet again. 4. The menu item that drew my party in remains on the menu online. The rice-cracker crusted tuna from this restaurant was the best tuna I had eaten in my life. It was my fault that I neglected to read the menu at the table carefully, as the paper menu matches the online menu for all items...except the rice cracker crust that made this dish awesome in the past. Really weird. All three members of our party ordered this dish based on my rave reviews from the past. However, a tasteless similar tuna dish was presented. I've only sent food back once in my life in the past and was mortified to have to do it at Caleb's. 2/3 of our party sent it back. Yuck...and we're generally easy to please. The staff recovered admirably by suggesting replacement entrees. I will emphasize their positive efforts here. The replacement dish (salmon cakes) were great! The goal of this visit was to test drive the service for planning a large upcoming private party. After this weird experience and the lack of a return call from Catering for several days after leaving a detailed message with a live staff member, I am hesitant to book the event due to concerns regarding lack of professionalism. Great ambiance though! Update April 7th: Catering followed-up with a phone call in a professional manner, offered to address the issues, and invited us to return. Way to go, Caleb's! I suggested a quick update to the online menu in order to reflect the current offerings. The representative responded that the incorrect dish listed online is seasonal may return in the future. That's OK, but shouldn't a menu accurately reflect what is being served at this time? I was impressed with the restaurant's interest in improvement, but remain skeptical with this weird response. read more

Great experience here! Best meal from start to finish I've had in awhile. Owner was super nice and attentive. Spoke to us before and after our meal. The one time I ate here, for a lazy weekday afternoon lunch, I was really disappointed. It was pretty filthy inside with dirt/debris all over the floor and the sandwich I got, described as "house-roasted turkey breast, vermont cheddar, arugula, cranberry mayo on raisin walnut bread" was on super hard raisin walnut bread with more raisins than walnuts and the cranberry mayo was about the constituency of creamy Italian dressing. Not sure if I would care to eat there again. read more

We arrived on a Monday morning at 10:15 for breakfast and found 6 occupied tables with 2 servers. We had to find our own table as the servers paid us no mind. After waitng 20 minutes we stopped on of the servers to ask for coffee and were told " I'm not here yet, I'm just cleaning up ". However she did manage to get us 2 cups of coffee. After another 15 minutes we noticed that several of the tables were not yet served and no one had yet taken our order At this time the server that was "working" first took the order of a couple who were seated when we walked in . That was when we new it was time to go. Used to frequent Waterlillies on a regular basis until their service slipped. Look's like Caleb's is continuing in that manner. read more

I gave it a one star because when my husband, mom and I went there at lunch on a Saturday, we stood there waiting about 5 minutes for anyone to even acknowledge us (2-3 waitresses passed by - I tried to catch their eye. No such luck!). And then the hostess said it would be 15-20 minutes...even though there were at least 5-7 open tables. This was around 12 noon. We waited about 5-10 minutes and then walked out. Even if they waitresses were busy, they could at least have sat us down with menus and water, rather than sitting in the tiny waiting room. We ended up having a nice lunch in Doylestown instead. read more

Great restaurant! Went there last evening with my parents. Our waiter Mark was terrific, as well as all of the servers. My mother must follow a gluten free diet and there are so many options. She enjoyed the BBQ shrimp special. I had the beef tenderloin- the portion was large enough to feed two! My husband loved the tuna and my dad had the veal meatloaf. Appetizers were fresh and wonderful from local farms - especially the heirloom tomatoes. The desserts are made on premises and should not be missed. Best key lime pie ever! Byob read more

We held a Bridal Shower here and it was terrific. The food was excellent. We chose the Turkey Club, the Monte Cristo, the Frittata with Potatoes, and the Salad. The entrees were delicious and beautifully presented. Our servers took excellent care of our party of 30. They paid attention to detail and were attentive without hovering. The space is very Zen and welcoming. Would definitely hold another event here. read more

I recently dined at Caleb's on Saturday 2/13. Had reservations and we were seated promptly, this is where things went downhill.It was a busy night and Caleb's was offering a prix fixe menu for Valentine's Day. Two main problems with the seating/dining area, first the dining area was packed with too many tables and second the dining area was freezing. There was minimum room to walk between tables or adjust your seating. You were basically sitting on the laps of other guests. How romantic for Valentine's Day.The second issue of the heat not being on was finally rectified after multiple tables complained, one of the servers turned on a small wall heater which tremendously helped. The service was disappointing and lackluster, our server a younger female didn't seem to care about her job or be enthusiastic at all. She was just going through the steps and very pushy, but I guess it didn't matter since we only saw her a hand full of times. She took our orders and never returned with any of our food or to check back in to see how we were doing until she dropped off the check. The appetizers were fantastic! We enjoyed the cheese plate and grilled oysters, both were fantastic. We both selected the surf and turf for our entrées. Both entrées came out to the table cold by a food runner. I cut into my steak and it was over cooked just about well done instead of medium like I requested. This was the tipping point.I wanted to send my meal back to be prepared again but guess what,No server to be found. The server never came back to see if everything was up to standards or if the filets were cooked appropriately. After trying to find or flag down a server for 10 minutes I decided to bite the bullet and just eat the cold over cooked steak, just so we could finish our meal and leave. My experience was extremely disappointing and dissatisfying. Terrible service ruined the night for us. The only plus was it was BYO and the appetizers. First of all the wait staff could be and should be working at Applebee's or if they want to work locally they could try Dairy Queen or McDonalds. Not to say they were not nice because they were, lots of smiles and small talk and there was no lack of attention including the shoulder rub my brother in law received from the waitress. We were checked on regularly and there was no lack of attention but I felt they were not up to par for an establishment selling $50 dry aged steaks, which is what I ordered for my meal. Now on to the food, can we call it food? Me: split chopped salad with wife and ordered dry aged 18oz Strip steak Wife: chicken entree off regular menu and chopped salad Sister in law: Kale salad (who even has kale on the menu anymore, it's so 2012), linguini with shrimp and clams Brother in law: calamari salad, and a burger Brother in law went off his vegetarian diet this weekend so he was excited to get a burger. Besides the bun being thick, cold and spongy he did eat the burger with no complaints but no compliments either. The burger was cooked correctly and the food was hot and fresh. The fries were the star of the dish but as my wife pointed out she had better fries at the oxford valley mall earlier in the day. The calamari on his salad was very good as well as the Asian style dressing so props to Caleb's for calamari. Sister in law: kale salad was lackluster. Again no compliments but thought the kale was extra tough and it was difficult to eat. I'm not sure what kale is supposed to taste like or what texture it should be but she felt it was a bit off. Her main entree was linguini with clams and cute micro shrimp. Now I know jumbo shrimp is an oxymoron but when I order a pasta dish for $21 I expect jumbo shrimp cocktail size shrimp and more than you can count on one hand. Flavor was good but I did notice she picked out large hunks of tomato that would have been better suited to a crudités platter. So again disappointed. Wife: wanted risotto which is so unlike my wife but they were out of it, as well as the Antelope. She didn't want the antelope but we were told it's off the menu for the summer. Ok, then take it off!!!! Are you really going to tell people all summer that the Antelope is off the menu for the summer, I'd rather see tape or marker on the menu. She ordered the chopped salad because it's her favorite salad when made at Marsha Browns. She also ordered the chicken which again is not like her. She is very picky about chicken in restaurants so I figured we were in for a disappointment here but the description on the menu sounded appetizing. So here is how this went down. Chopped salad was cold enough that we thought it came out of the freezer. Not a good start, and it just was not close to the one from MB. Caleb was the chef at MB for those of you reading this that can't figure out why I keep comparing/mentioning this other better restaurant. Anyway, after a mediocre salad her inedible chicken dish arrived. It was "rubbery" and "disgusting". Not one redeeming quality of this dish except it was served hot. Me: 18oz Kansas Strip. Man do I love steak. I love steak so much that I cried when my local butcher Amol Maresca closed his wonderful shop over in Seargentsville. I love steak, I love meat, I really enjoy bone in dry aged steak. It's my all time favorite so I ordered the $50 steak with fries with no hesitation. I asked the waitress to make it Pittsburg Medium Rare. Charred but red/reddish pink. Charred dry aged meat is heavenly, don't screw it up with your silly trademark rub or your garlic herb butter. I'd like it plain please. She assured me everything was on the side vas the meat would be grilled plain. Well that's not how this went down. When my steak arrived with garlic herb butter on top and no fries I knew I was screwed. She apologized about the butter and pretty quickly fixed the missing fries issue but when she returned I informed her that the beautiful piece of beef had been defaced by some sort of herb flavored rub on it. She scurried away to the kitchen and then quickly returned to tell me that the only way they can char a steak is to use a rub on it. I thought about asking if they had a salamander broiler in the kitchen but I figured I had better shut my mouth and eat my almost raw steak. Yes it was cold in the middle and I just wasn't in the mood for a rare steak but I was hungry and afraid what would happen to my food if I sent it back. I took the leftover chicken and about $25 of my $50 steak home for our dogs. Btw when you hostess in an empty restaurant don't wear heels and tromp back and forth like Godzilla chasing Mothra. The sound of clomping heels was our accompaniment to decent background music. Sorry it's harsh but it's honest. I have never done a review but felt I had to say something. I'm not hard to please i love eating out and I love food but we will not be going back here. read more

Great little BYOB. Went for Brunch a few weeks ago and had the best spinach and red pepper quiche ever in the patio which has a glass enclosure-- perfect! Service was professional and friendly. From the manager to the server, everyone made us feel very important. Will be going back soon. read more

A close friend and I just returned from lunch at Caleb's American Kitchen. What a disappointment! I had hoped this would be a new restaurant that my friends and I could visit for lunch and my husband and I could frequent for casual dinners as well. The service was terrible. We were ignored for a good 10 minutes upon arrival--no eye contact from any member of the staff. When we finally were seated, we were ignored again for at least another 15 minutes. The owner came around to greet patrons but skipped our table completely. Food, when finally served was uninspired and skimpy. No touches to make it appealing at all. The waitress never checked on us till it was time for the bill at which time, I had to ask her for some coffee. Of course, she never returned to ask if I wanted a refill! The bus girl had to help us! What a shame. I doubt I would bother to return. read more

I've been planning on eating here, ever since Caleb's opened as they advertised themselves as a place to eat gluten free safely. Came here last week on Wednesday around 1:30. There were three parties ahead of us waiting to be seated. It took about 15 minutes to seat one party of 5 and two tables of two. It took another 5 for us to be seated. There were plenty of open tables, probably half the restaurant was filled. There were two servers that seemed to be overwhelmed, I heard one of them state they were not busy yesterday but very busy today. Our server came, took our order, in which I ordered a gluten free hamburger for my daughter and said if the fries are gluten free then she can have them. I asked to have the fish tacos as they were noted gluten free on the menu. The hamburger arrived with a onion ring along side of the gf hamburger and fries, when I questioned if they were gluten free, he said no, let me take the onion ring off the plate. I explained that, it was touching the gluten free bun, so therefore, nothing was gluten free on the plate (the fries he explained were made in a shared fryer). He took the plate and brought back (about 10 minutes later) a frozen bun and hamburger with a side salad. My daughter ate it because she was hungry and our waiter never came back and was literally rushing from table to table and not exactly approachable. My meal was okay, it didn't have a lot of flavor. The most important thing is that neither of us had a reaction to the food, as we are Celiac and must be on a gluten free diet. That isn't enough to encourage me to ever make a return visit or encourage anyone else to. read more

Wow! This was our first of many trips to come to Caleb's. A great experience all around. Not only was the staff most welcoming and the decor refreshingly casual and festive, but the food was an A+. We started with a raw tuna appetizer that was delicious. The presentation was imaginative. We just had burgers, but they were outrageous burgers. Can't wait to try bfast, lunch and other dinner entrees. The sun porch should be most pleasant as the weather gets warmer. This restaurant is a definite hit! read more

We were nearby at a workshop and found Caleb's online. I'm vegan and my friend is gluten free so we're not always easy to accomodate.There were a few blips but the waitress and manager (in the fabulous purple shirt) could not do enough for us. The butternut squash soup was fabulous We would both suggest making the kale pieces much smaller. Enjoyed the seitan We will definitely come back So happy to find a vergan friendly restaurant. read more

Excellent!! We go to PeddlersVillage every year at Christmas as a family tradition. This was our first time eating at Caleb's American Kitchen and it will be a new part of our tradition! What a tremendous surprise. From the outside, it looks like an OK place that is adjacent to the shopping outlets in Peddler's Village. The inside is very modern with a clean, simple look. My wife and I went with another couple. We had a special seared tuna over noodles (like a noodle bowl) and crab cakes. All were excellent with great taste. We also all had dessert which was fantastic. Service was average but nothing to complain about. Definitely visit this place, it's well worth the visit. I'll be back. read more

maybe it was an off day. when we asked if we could have a reuben sandwich we were informed by our waitress that as we were six minutes away from lunch we should order from the breakfast menu. We were first timers -- -- and so, did just that.....and then we waited...and waited...and waited....and waited...there were two large tables that sat loaded with dirty dishes -- throughout our meal -- diners around us were grumbling about their wait....when 'breakfast' finally arrived it was well into lunch hour......I left most of the chicken sausage because it was dry and not flavorful....the spinach had no flavor....I wanted this to be a wonderful experience...maybe if I had lower expectations I wouldn't have been so disappointed. doubt if I'll go back. read more

My husband and I just returned from dinner at Caleb's American Kitchen and I must admit it was a HUGE disappointment. We arrived to an empty dining room just before 5pm for what we had hoped to be a pleasant dinner. When the hostess finally got around to acknowledging us, she seemed very annoyed that we did not have a reservation. She then seated us in an empty dining room that remained empty until we finished our dinner. By then a few other diners had wandered into the restaurant. The server, pleasant enough, came to our table to take our order but he failed to offer us beverages or mention the daily specials. Warm water was served to us from a bottle that was apparently refilled in the kitchen with tap water. No other beverage options were offered. The complimentary bread was tasty but badly burnt on the bottom. It was accompanied by a rosemary olive oil for dipping. We ordered the overpriced cheese plate which consisted of domestic meats and cheeses that were edible. Unfortunately, the paper-thin toast medallions were useless as they crumbled when one tried to place any cheese or meat on them. Caleb's lobster rolls, made from ground up leg and body meat (not tail or claw meat), was overpriced at $13. This three bite starter smelled fishy and was memorable for all of the wrong reasons. Finally our entree, the pumpkin ravioli, arrived on a huge plate that overwhelmed the size of the serving. While the flavor was good, is was not garnished in any fashion and looked very unappetizing. At this point we were so put off that we chose not to order dessert and left. Caleb's American Kitchen will only succeed only because of it's proximity to Peddler's Village. It will never become a destination restaurant for the locals. Sadly, we were expecting so much more. read more
