This is a newly opened location. Beautiful restaurant. It's fairly new. Parking is a bit tricky I just parked in the enclosed parking structure next door as it is safer. Food was good the paani puri had a nice twist to it they had different flavours in each shot glass which was quite interesting. Cauliflower poppers were amazing fresh crisp and tasty. Panner was disappointing there was more masala than the panner. Dal makhani was the highlight it was bang on with taste and texture. The kitchen is open setting looked new and well staffed everyone is super friendly . But service for reorders was bad if you eating and want another naan will take forever they just need to get their staff well trained for a larger party they have the crew just need proper delegation I am sure will work out the kinks. Yes they do have a good selection of drinks their red wine selection is limited to one or two only. It just opened so will give them that. Will go back and try their different items definitely for the dal makhani. read more

I decided to make a reservation here to celebrate my partner completing her cancer treatment. I was very excited to have found a place we hadn't tried that would agree with her new dietary restrictions. In a nutshell, we arrived to a nearly empty restaurant on Friday night. The seating was wide open but we were still sat at a two top up against the kitchen. Not ideal, but whatever. We decided on our dishes pretty quickly, as there were a handful of amazing options and we wanted to avoid decision paralysis. We ordered their minced chicken dumplings, Butter chicken pot pie, and the beef short-rib. I think flavor wise the food was mostly on point. My short ribs were a little bland, but still quite delicious. I will say, the down side to our experience was that the short ribs and the appetizer were not hot. Lukewarm at best. I mentioned this to the server and compared it to the piping hot dish my partner had in front of them and the response was sorta snarky. My partner noticed the attitude as well. They took my plate into the kitchen and came back five minutes later. I cant say with certainty they did anything to warm it, and considering the attitude, I doubt they did. I probably just came off annoying which was not my intention. Both the dumplings and the short ribs were lukewarm warm and I only asked for my dish to be warmed. I was polite and even apologized for asking. I think this was just a mistake with timing. My dish and the appetizer were clearly finished 7 or 8 minutes before my partners dish. Not a sin, not the end of the world. I just felt the response for a simple request could've been met with less attitude. After all, it's not like y'all were busy. Lastly, if you don't like Apple or are allergic, dont get the chai tiramisu. Pretty sure that is what I was tasting and it's not listed as an ingredient. And you probably don't have to make reservation. this place was empty when we got there. read more

If I could provide a review with zero stars...I would. This restaurant absolutely ruined my sisters birthday. We have a reservation and arrived in advance of the reserved time. As we were standing waiting to be greeted, 3 people walked in and stood in front of us...when what looked like an owner or manager approached, he proceeded to help THEM first but I interrupted to remind him we had been waiting and were there first. After being seated the one waitress (who doubles as a hostess) dropped off menus for 4 (not the 8 in our party) and said she would be back with waters. The water showed up and that was basically the end of that. Even after our full party arrived and were seated, she dropped off more menus and then said she would be right back to take our order after dropping something off. Mind you we had already waited about 20 minutes just for her to come say she'd be right back. A large walk-in party that showed up after we arrived and while we were waiting they were seated and the bar tender promptly walked over to take their order. At that point we realized we were the wrong ethnicity to actually be served at this restaurant. Unfortunately if you are not of Indian background you will likely not be served... It was all great. I took my wife & adult daughter for a birthday celebration. The atmosphere was calm & beautiful. We ordered butter chicken pot pie, saag paneer, vegetable rendang, mint paratha, saffron rice, garden salad, and masala mint. Everything was delicious. I think we were the wrong complexion for service. The entire experience from being cut off by rude customers on the way in the door, to being ignored by hostess at the door, it was not surprising that the service was just as bad. The way they pile so many people into that place, with no safe or clear walkways, has to be a capacity infraction. The waitress that "stopped by" our table, was seen cleaning the bar, assisting other parties and delivering drinks, none of which included serving our table After almost 20+ minutes post seating, we had not even had our drink orders taken and parties that arrived after us were already placing entree orders. To add insult to injury, the waitress flat out lied and said she came to our table several times and we weren't ready. I guess that was a partial lie, the two times we flagged her down, she stopped to say should would be right back - once with extra menus, then the next with more water - of which neither actually arrived to the table. Cannot tell you about the food. Our order was never taken. But, as we were leaving another table was trying to flag a waiter just to pay so they could leave. They had been waiting a while just to leave. Poor service and horrible management. If that's what you're into, this is the place for you. read more

I went to this restaurant to pick up an order I placed through Uber Eats. The app said the order would be ready in about 10 minutes. When I arrived, a waitress told me it would take 10-15 minutes, so I waited. After 15 minutes, I asked her if the order was ready, and she told me to wait a little longer. I ended up waiting another 20 minutes. At that point, I asked a different waiter to check on the order. He went to the kitchen and came back saying the order was not in their system -- it turns out they never received or processed it. He apologized and asked me to wait another 10 minutes while they prepared it. After 10 minutes, he returned and said they were currently communicating with Uber and would let me know whether they would make the order or not. Ten minutes later, he came back again and told me they would not be preparing the order, and apologized. I left without my order after waiting nearly an hour. This experience was very frustrating and disappointing. The staff was clearly disorganized and unprofessional. There seemed to be no communication between team members, and they didn't even check properly if an Uber order had come in. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously -- this level of service is unacceptable. FOR OWNER Thank you for your response. However, the issue is not only with Uber. When I first walked into the restaurant, your staff member told me twice that my order would be ready in 10 minutes. He even went to the kitchen and came back with that assurance. It wasn't until almost 40 minutes later that I was finally told the order wasn't showing up in your system at all. If your staff had checked properly from the beginning, I wouldn't have waited so long. This wasn't just an issue with Uber -- it was also a failure on your team's part to verify the order right away. I hate that I'm giving them a 2 star because their food was exceptional. We loved it!!! However, the service was horrible!! We walled in with a reservation and had to wait a long time before someone got to us only to give the party that was a walk in ahead of us the table. You could tell the hostess shook her head and had a tiff with the server that seated them. Seemed like the server was only one person working the floor taking orders, clearing tables, bringing the food to the tables and he was all over the place. We felt bad for him. At one point the bartender even stepped in to check on the tables. Ofcourse things took for ever. Staff had no uniform which if your going to make a reference to a Michelin star you know service, presentation and food all play equal roles. What made everything worse was the neighborhood. From where we were seated we could see the homeless walk by. Dogs taking a piss, it ruined everything. A simple window decal could fix this esp. when you know your location has a ton of homeless. We parked a block away and walked by human shit on the pavement and gangs everywhere. Offer Valet!!! Easy fix to your customers experience in a neighborhood that just isn't safe. Again food was amazing if you get past the horrible service. Even the simple things like.. For a tiny table they never even picked up the menu from us. We were left finding a place to put it. Leaning against the window till it fell to then tucked under our dish. Decor was really nice. Drinks felt like they used the cheap alcohol. You felt the burn. It wasn't smooth. Hope this helps them make some essential fixes. I'd go back if they offered valet n better service. read more

Absolutely delicious! My husband devoured the Butter Chicken pot pie. The sauce was slightly spicy but at a level he could tolerate. The pastry lid was buttery and rich. I ordered the classic burrata saag paneer. Flavorful spinach and mustard greens and the rich burrata and micro greens on top were a nice touch. The server, Sai, was great. Unobtrusive but on top of it. The ceilings are high and tall windows let in a lot of light. There is a large window through which you can see the cooks. Chill music. They have a selection of zero-proof drinks such as a virgin mojito, chai, mango passion fruit rose lassi. Parking at AVA structure is validated for 90 minutes. Just remember to ask. The non-alcoholic mint drink was surprisingly savory. It had a stronger flavor than I anticipated and I didn't finish it. Our server was very friendly. The drinks were really fun - lots of zero proof drink options. The virgin mojito was refreshing. The almond whisky drink my friend got can with a glass dome of smoke - fun aromatic reveal! The restaurant is very clean and the service is great. They use OpenTable, they take card, and you can pay the bill with a QR code which is super convenient. I went for Dine LA and had the following: -Pesto Paneer: mild in flavor, the texture and density of the paneer was slightly firmer which I prefer; the peppers and onion added great flavor to the pesto. -Cali Sticky Ribs: the sauce isn't too sweet and the spice level is also mild; the meat was very tender and came right off the bone. -Chicken Vindaloo: the chicken was moist, the curry was very flavorful with a medium level of spice. -Vanilla Panna Cotta: a cute little gelatinous/custard treat in a decorative mold shape with a berry sauce that wasn't too sweet and a few strawberry pieces; a perfect smaller portion after a heavier meal. read more

Third meal here. Taste Creativity off the chart. Lunch is excellent, dinner sublime. The Chai Tea is the best we have ever had... don't leave without trying it. We were very excited to support this restaurant and also really looking forward to trying the food, which looked great on all the Instagram posts. Once we arrived the experience quickly went downhill. We had an 8pm reservation for a large party of 8 people and arrived at 7:55. Upon arrival, the manager appeared burdened by having to seat us. There were apparently no tables set aside for our party. We were told to wait for 20 min in the door, no one invited us to the bar to have a drink while we waited. We decided to go to the bar where the bartender, the single pleasant employee in the restaurant, asked us why we weren't being seated in the private room which was completely free. The manager never mentioned the private room. I asked her if she could please sit us there, which she balked at because apparently employees had their backpacks sitting on the chairs and they would need to move them. Eventually she relented and we were seated. After being seated, we learn that there is no server for our table. The bartender who is making drinks for the whole restaurant is going to be the one that serves our table. Not sure if this was punishment for him telling us that there's a private room. As you can imagine he has no time to provide us with anything but the most superficial of attention the whole night. We literally had to get up and go into the main dining room if we wanted to ask a question or order anything. Meanwhile there was no soap in the bathroom, so no one could wash their hands (how were staff washing their hands). Multiple requests to the manager and 20 min later someone finally refilled the soap dispenser. They requested that we place all the food orders together but told us that everything would be coursed out. Of course that was not the case. Appetizers came out with main courses, naan came out at the end of the meal after everything that could have been eaten with the naan was already gone. If you wanted a drink go order it at the bar. The restaurant at this point was half empty but the manager never returned to ask about our meal, no service was ever offered to support the over-burdened bartender. I hesitate to comment on the drinks, which looked great on paper but were either saccharine sweet or bland and unbalanced, but that might have been because the bartender had no time to put any real effort into the libations as he was too busy wearing the hat of server. As for the food, it was good, some things like the Old School Chicken Tikka were spectacular but between the two identical plates of the chicken one was better than the other. The Cali sticky ribs were flavorful and the Lamb shank Dum Biryani impressed, and I really liked the lamb Chops. Yet other things were mediocre and forgettable like their special Butter Chicken Pot Pie which was bland, as was the Cali Chilli Paneer, and the Sea Bass tasted previously frozen and watery. My main complaint was that the flavors of the food were unremarkable. We go to Indian food for the vibrancy of the flavors, and the interplay of textures and spices. The food at Cali Chilli did not impress and did not satisfy our Indian food craving. I would comment on the desserts or the sweet non-alcoholic drinks but to our surprise when we asked for the dessert menu we were told that the kitchen was closed. No one ever said anything, no one ever asked if we were interested in ordering anything else. It was so unfortunate and we felt so upset about the experience but it perfectly tied together all the issues we had experienced that night. Cal Chilli was a bust and we will not be returning. The hunt for the exotic flavors of India in Los Angeles continues... I wish Cali Chilli the best but they might need to take a hard look at their process, their kitchen, their bar and most importantly their staff and their management and decide if they want to survive in this location or end up a flavorless mark in the Los Angeles food scene. read more

Visited this spot a few days ago with my wife for lunch. Truly a spectacular addition to the DT area. Chef came out made a few suggestions and hit it out of the park. All the food was delicious, beautifully presented and again super tasty. Going back today and can't wait. Our server dropped off menus, and we waited...and waited... and waited. At one point she told us she would be right back to take orders, but she never returned. As we waited, we turned to see a large party that arrived after us, with no reservation, be seated and have their orders taken practically the second their behinds hit the chairs.
