We contacted the business in late July of last year to see about installing a solar system on our home before the end of the year. Within in days, Alessandro was here to meet us in person and provided us with a comprehensive breakdown for solar options and pricing. We loved that we were treated like actual people instead of a number in a queue. Given that there was a slight backlog of jobs they had to work through we were assured that we would have our system fully installed and activated before the end of the year, which we did! It was great working with Nick who was our onsite rep and Juan was always available to answer any questions we had by phone (of which I had many). Despite the number of times I called, he was always patient with me and provided detailed answers that gave me a better picture of our installation and how our system would operate moving forward. I can't say enough about how amazing the whole process was. Looking at our electrical bills right now and we're in awe of all of the savings we're getting, which validates our decision to purposefully oversize our system. If and when we decide to install a car charging station in our home we're definitely going back to Sunlight!

I spoke with many contractors, and almost all of them sent salespeople who gave generic answers or tried to push cookie-cutter solutions that clearly didn't fit my setup. Carlos was completely different. From the moment he arrived, it was clear he wasn't a salesperson -- he's an engineer, and it shows. He took the time to deeply understand my system, reviewed actual spec sheets on the spot, and immediately identified issues that other contractors completely missed. Multiple companies told me Hyundai panels would work fine. Carlos checked the amperage limits, applied proper safety margin calculations, and clearly explained why those panels would not work with my EcoFlow system -- saving me from a costly mistake. He also walked me through: Proper panel selection within voltage and amperage limits Safe string configurations and series wiring How to maximize roof space while staying within code Permitting requirements I hadn't been told about before On top of that, Carlos identified critical code and safety requirements that no one else mentioned: Bollards required in the garage to protect battery units Correct battery placement to maintain required clearance from doors and entrances Heat detector requirements for battery installations in a garage These are all things that would have caused inspection failures later -- and Carlos caught them immediately. He spent well over an hour with me, climbed onto my roof to check for obstructions, inspected battery placement, reviewed wiring paths, and answered every question in detail without ever rushing me. What truly sealed the deal was how efficient and transparent the pricing process was. Carlos was able to turn around a detailed quote very quickly, and when I received it, I was honestly surprised -- it was a significant amount lower than every other quote I received, even though his evaluation was by far the most thorough. After learning about the expansion, he strongly encouraged me to meet Benny, a general contractor, because he said Benny was very competitive. I was already in the process of selecting contractors for the expansion but had not signed a contract, so I agreed to let Benny inspect the project and show me how competitive his proposal would be. However, I did not agree that Benny would receive the expansion project, and my main reason for the introduction was still the solar-panel work. I specifically told Collin that Benny did not appear interested in doing only the solar project. Collin assured me that the solar work would have nothing to do with whether Benny received the roofing or expansion work. Based on that assurance, I continued the process and asked Benny to prepare a contract for only the solar portion. When Benny stopped responding, I asked Collin whether I should find another solar contractor. Collin responded, "We can do it," and agreed to contact Benny about preparing the contract. Benny later informed me that the solar price had actually been offered with the expectation that his company would receive the entire addition project. Since I wanted only the solar work, Benny declined the job. I forwarded Benny's response to Collin. Collin apologized for the confusion and said he would call Benny the following day to sort it out, but I never received another update. The main problem was that I specifically asked whether the solar proposal was tied to the larger expansion project and was assured that it was not. I relied on that assurance and lost valuable time. Clear disclosure of the condition from the beginning--and a final follow-up after promising to resolve the issue--would have prevented this experience.

My roof is difficult to access and they had to come back several times with different ladders but they never gave up and the weren't ever not confident that it could be done easy. Finally the right tools were located. The team was very professional. The install went very well and caused no damage to the roof or my house. The service afterwards has also been great. This is a great value with no cost upfront. PG&E is naturally trying to claw back some sort of a pay increase but so far has been honest at true up. They just increase the price for gas. 5 stars. He was extremely knowledgeable about solar and made the process of designing our system straightforward and easy. Because I had travel plans, we couldn't start immediately, but the Syndy team scheduled our installation for Jul 27 - 28. Everything went exactly as planned. The materials arrived on Jul 24, and Martin and his crew, showed up right on time at 7:45 AM on Jul 27. They worked incredibly hard, efficiently completing most of the installation that day and returning the next day to finish the remaining panels and cleanup. That evening, seeing our panels generating solar energy for the first time was an amazing feeling! PG&E installed the Tesla Backup Switch a few days later, and everything seemed to be moving perfectly - until our Livermore city inspection on Aug 7. Unfortunately, we failed because an approved heat detector had not been installed. I was extremely disappointed. It felt like having an amazing present sitting right in front of me but not being able to open it! There were a few additional hiccups, but Jason stepped in, took ownership of the heat detector issues, and worked to get everything resolved. We finally passed inspection and received our permit on Aug 26, followed by PG&E Permission to Operate (PTO) on Aug 28. Nicolas in sales was very responsive and easy to work with - answered pretty much all questions we had. Lorena from project management provided timely updates. When it came to actual scheduling and installation Adam & team were right on the money. From signing the contract to permit to installation it took about 3 weeks. Another week for inspection & then PTO was quick too. Installation crew arrived before scheduled time, installed in few hours, and cleaned up everything. Eduardo was spot on with final inspection - the city inspector told me that this was the first inspection that passed on first attempt. So kudos for doing great job without any corrections. Adam was just a phone call away with any questions and he updated regularly during the entire process. They provide tier 1 panels, are certified Tesla installer and provide great price. We originally chose them a few years ago because they offered free solar panel removal and reinstallation when we eventually needed a roof replacement. The initial install went fine, but trying to get them to honor their contract now has been a nightmare. Bait and Switch: They are suddenly demanding a $3,600 fee for the removal. Even their salesperson admitted this fee was not indicated in our main agreement from 2021, but is now picking apart vague fine print (outside of our contract) to justify it. We have sent the contract over multiple times and asked them to highlight the language where it specifies this charge. Unethical leadership: Leadership is aware of this $3,600 gap, but they don't want to back down. Terrible Customer Service: They are dragging their feet and refusing to coordinate with our roofer, who has been consistently asking for dates to remove the solar. Ignored Emergencies: We explicitly told them we have an active roof leak and asked them to prioritize the removal so we could fix our home. They did not care. Once they finish your initial install, they will abandon you and refuse to give you the time of day. I am reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. If you are looking for solar, be very wary and look elsewhere.

AHS was the most reasonable of the four companies I got quotes from. Meo was communicative and good to work with. There were some issues with timeliness and communication with his installers, but they were relatively minor.
