Enjoyed the quick lunch. Pet friendly patio we brought our dog along for our trip to the beach. We enjoyed the cod fish tacos. The bartender was friendly and made me a couple of vodka drinks I wanted.

Nice spot not near PCH. Casual vibe. Good food. Good drinks. Exactly what I was looking for that day!

This had got to be one of the best Mexican restaurants around! The food was delicious! Even the chips and salsa was good! It's a quaint lil Mexican restaurant with patio seating, very nice. Our server was excellent and asked if we needed anything several times. If you're in the area you have to try this place. SO GOOD!

I'm back for another great review! I've been a regular here for the last 4 years, and I want to give props to Sara. She's the manager that is often helping out serving. She's amazing. She remembers my order and is always a friendly face to see. The food, always top notch, and serving sizes are nothing to fret from. They are very friendly to dogs and allow them in their patio seating, offering water bowls for our fur babies. Can't forget the $19.99 bottomless mimosas!! Will always be back!

It is interesting that some of the restaurants along the coast, in some of the towns, are not dog friendly, even when you see people with dogs everywhere! Luckily Cali Costa is a dog friendly place with an awesome outdoor patio! All the workers are really friendly and welcoming! Not too busy on a Monday evening which was nice for us. We had just missed happy hour. Ordered a house margarita and a skinny margarita. Both very good! The server in training suggested chips and guac, and why not? Really nice presentation and a really good serving of avocado and spices! I ordered the short rib enchiladas and Daveed had the combo taco and cheese enchilada. The short rib was good, and the sauce had a fair amount of heat. I wasn't too keen on the rice, and the pintos were good. Daveed thought he was getting a hard shell taco, but he said it was good. He would've preferred the pintos instead of the black beans. I would've wanted the black beans instead of the pintos, so maybe offer a choice? The presentations of both were really good. Since we're from San Diego, we do tend to judge Mexican food a little hard. We thought the food was pretty safe, meaning anyone who does not like spicy, or is apprehensive about Mexican food, is safe to eat here. There's something for everyone. Again, the service was friendly and upbeat, and they were attentive without being intrusive which we like. Oh, and Cako liked being there because she only lays down when she does! Cako Approves!

Good Mexican place. Live music often, good place to watch a game. Nice staff. Been here 3 times. If you order right you'll be happy. For two recommend the big Cadillac Margarita, two birria tacos and enchilada sampler and share. You won't be disappointed.

This is a good restaurant to watch sports without the typical "sport's bar" atmosphere. It has a wonderful outdoor patio and serves tasty coastal Mexican food! My go to when meeting up with friends.

Amazing restaurant! The vibes are immaculate and the food is exceptional! Would definitely recommend coming in and trying it for yourself. Also a great spot to watch the World Cup with over 20 TVs all around!

    Short Rib Enchiladas
    Lexy M.

Tried this spot today for the first time and I very was disappointed with the quality of the food. The short rib enchiladas were decent, not good but not bad either. However, the Spanish rice and the refried beans were really disappointing for a Mexican restaurant with these prices. What I was served is something I would expect from a really cheap Mexican restaurant in an area where people aren't familiar with Mexican food. The beans were so watery it was like a soup with a few beans mixed inside and the Spanish rice was completely bland. I had stomach pain after the meal and subsequently had to run to the bathroom. You can definitely find much better Mexican food in the area for the same price that's much better quality as well. Only had one customer in the store at 2pm on a Saturday so that seems indicative of how popular this spot is. If they improved the quality of their food and used better ingredients this would be a much better place. For what you get right now, it is not worth the price you're paying.

    Crispy Carnitas Taco

My favorite lunch or dinner stop when I'm heading home to San Diego County from Laguna Beach. I really enjoy the California fusion style tacos. This time I ordered 3 - Crispy Taco with Carnitas, Cali Shrimp (soft) Taco, and Maui Chicken (soft) Taco. All three were really tasty and hit the spot. The free chips and salsa (just enough heat) are also always good. A couple of on-tap Pacifico beers to wash everything down, and I was a happy camper!

    Mariscos Enchiladas

Cute little Mexican place with nice seafood options. I got the enchiladas Mariscos which has one green enchilada with shrimp that was quite tasty. The other enchilada was chipotle crab. This one was super hot, also appeared to be imitation crab so want to throw that out there. I enjoyed my food though and waiters were very attentive. My mom had the fish tacos and she also enjoyed them. I would recommend it for a nice easy sit down place for someone looking to eat some seafood.

    Chicken tortilla soup rojo

This is the perfect beach town mexican restaurant. Great margaritas meets tasty tacos, with a key brunch bonus (pork chili verde with eggs) I started with the chicken tortilla soup Rojo and it checked all my boxes. The Owner Josh has strong vision for Cali Costa and he is constantly delivering. A perfect spot for a fun night out with friends and family.

When the FIFA World Cup starts, I love watching international football (soccer). For years, I was looking for the perfect place to watch the matches after my old favorite spot closed. I've been coming to The Point for more than 20 years, but I never realized what an amazing place it was to watch sports until the World Cup. The atmosphere is incredible. The sound system is fantastic, every TV is tuned to the same game with the live match audio, and no matter where you sit, you have a great view of multiple screens. It feels like you're inside the stadium, surrounded by fans who share the same passion for the beautiful game. I saw people from different backgrounds coming together, cheering, laughing, and enjoying the matches as one community. That's what sports are all about--unity and friendship. I want to thank everyone at The Point Restaurant & Bar for creating such a welcoming place for our community. Whether you're there to watch your favorite sport, enjoy a cold beer or another drink, or have a delicious meal, The Point has something for everyone. Today, on a Saturday at 12-ish, as a family of 4 we were able to get seated right away. Our server was attentive and offered/brought waters right away. We were seated inside which was open and spacious but loud enough to make it family friendly. The tables were far enough a part that you did not feel like you were on top of each other. Next time, we might ask to sit outside so our young boys can watch the cars drive by. We learned that the kitchen is nut free (always double check as this could change), which was amazing since our son has a severe nut allergy. He was so excited to learn this as he can be limited at other places due to cross contamination or the wrong oils. Then when the food came out and it was delicious - it sealed the deal. It is now in the top of our list of places to go. The kids cheeseburger is good size and not a smaller version as some places do. The chicken tenders were panko crusted which was so crunchy. My husband and I shared the smoked carrot and chicken tacos and we enjoyed them both. The beer was also very good with my husband and I each trying a different kind - an IPA and a Pale Ale. We are so glad we finally stopped in and so should you!

The hostess, Zoey, gave me the estimated wait time (which was an expected amount for that time in the early evening.) My mother-in-law has a portable oxygen concentrator that runs on batteries, so I inquired if there was an outlet we could use in the meantime to save the battery while we waited for our table. She politely asked me to wait while she spoke to her manger. Moments later, Kat, the manager arrived and I explained the situation. An unusual request I'm sure, so Kat took a minute to figure out a way to accommodate us. She also politely asked me to wait while she researched a solution. About 5 minutes later, Kat returned and informed me that a table by an outlet would be available soon if we could wait another 10-15 minutes. I happily agreed and let me party know. Not more that 15 minutes later, Kat gathered us in and showed us to our table. Our server, Alyssa, promptly greeted us and took our drink order while we perused the menu. We started with both the fried calamari and crispy brussel sprouts appetizers which were delicious and large enough for the 6 of us. For dinner, we had the Double Smash Burgers, Fresh Catch plate, Grilled Local Fish Sandwich, and the Cali Clam Chowder. Each entree was brought out fresh and tasted amazing! Alyssa was very attentive to ensure our meals were prepared to our liking and that our beverage needs were met. Kat came by as well to check on us and to make sure we had everything we needed. UPDATE: After receiving a response from the GM, I took a look through some of the other negative…read morereviews and noticed a pattern: nearly every criticism seems to receive a lengthy explanation or rebuttal defending the policy or practice being questioned. And respectfully, I think that's part of the disconnect here. When customers repeatedly tell you that something about their experience feels unwelcoming, explaining why they're wrong to feel that way isn't necessarily the same thing as listening to the feedback. Of course children shouldn't be running through servers carrying heavy trays, climbing on bars or fences, or lighting leaves on fire. I don't think any reasonable parent would disagree with that. But none of those examples remotely describe what happened during our visit, nor were we suggesting children should have free rein of the restaurant. My concern was--and remains--the punitive three-strike system and the way it's being enforced for fairly ordinary kid behavior. There is an enormous amount of space between "children setting things on fire" and "a kid got out of their chair," and that nuance seems to be getting lost. We live in an incredibly family-heavy community filled with busy restaurants that somehow manage to maintain safe environments for their employees, children, and other guests without making parents feel like they're accumulating demerits throughout their meal. And that's really the feedback: a policy can be created with safety in mind and still be poorly executed. If multiple longtime customers are telling you that the experience of being on the receiving end feels punitive and unwelcoming, perhaps that's worth considering rather than simply explaining why the policy exists.
