Was in Houston visiting. The fam took me to this place and I recognized it from instagram. I really wanted to try it. This place is niiiice. The decor is perfect. Love the paintings and pictures on the walls. The owner was super cool with us and showed us mad love. Super nice person. The food was bomb too. The portions are enough to get you full for sure. The seasoning is perfect. There are a lot of tvs in this place so you wont have any problems watching games. Theres a bar also, if your a drink type person. In the back patio there is a hookah area. This place is the best spot to come hang, meet people, eat good food and have a good time. Keep up the great work. When Im back in Houston, for sure come back.

This place is right up my alley! Cali Alley. The food is amazing!! Awesome soul food that's so hard to find, incredible vibrant atmosphere with West Coast music to move your hips too all night. Incredible waitresses that are so polite and attentive. Great drinks, what more can you ask for. I've tried so many things as I've been here a few times and since it reminds me of my Cali home, I decided to have my birthday party here. Everything was easy, flowed great, everyone had a great time! You can bring your own cake. They play birthday songs for you and flash happy birthday on the TV screens. They add a firework to your cake for extra fun! Loaded potatoes with grilled salmon excellent Loaded potatoes with chicken - all the seasoning you've ever wanted! Fried salmon!! Yessss, give .e more please Crab legs, YES please Fried shrimp okayyy!! You can't go wrong for a great time in this place. Please help our local private owned businesses stay alive by supporting anytime you can. We need this one to stay around.

Horrrible! Place! Don't even waste your time! When arriving, no one was at the front, finally found someone. There was only one couple seated out of the entire restaurant. Finally we got seated, I asked for a towel to wipe of the very dirty table and chairs. And instead of her doing it she gave me a wet towel for me to wipe it off. After that we were told to put in our order in a kiosk that was outside. When telling the bartender Brianna that we were paying with cash, she said she'll just have to manually take our order. We ordered food and a hookah. After 30 mins, we finally got the food, my guest ordered Philly Cheesesteak and fries, her food was cold. When asking for fresh food or a refund Brianna stated they don't do refunds. After waiting 45 mins on a hookah asked her for a refund, she stated she already heated the coals so she couldn't give a refund. Every single time we went to the bar to check on our food and hookah, she was behind the bar eating herself like as if our food didn't even matter. The level of HORRIBLE customer service and not so good food is enough to make sure me or anyone I know ever come back! And not to add, who put tomatoes and lettuce on a Philly cheesesteak! I've never seen that ever at no restaurant.

It's a lot going on with this place. My friend and I walked in on a Monday evening at 645 and it was no one there. No one behind the bar, no one to greet us. Didn't even look like they were open. Started to walk around and someone came from the back and we were able to sit where we wanted. She ended up being our server and she was nice. The drinks came out slow which was weird since we were the only customers but the food didn't take long and it tasted decent. I think this place has the potential to be great, but in MY opinion I don't think the location is a great spot for the vibe I think they're trying for. We left around 830 and there was only 1 other party that came after us and left before us. Even though it was a Monday night and NBA playoffs were on, maybe this was considered a slow night. Don't know if I will come again, but I would love to see this place succeed.

While visiting family we decided to visit Cali Kitchen. Once arriving it was very quiet but the night was still early. The waiter came out right away took our drink order and gave suggestions. Being from Cali the owner(Ashley) came over and spoke with us. She was very welcoming, pleasant to speak with. She even gave us a drink on the house which was a 15/10. Definitely will be my go to. Overall everything was absolutely great we all left full and happy. I have my eye on the pineapple bowl next go round.

Second time coming here. This review is from the recent second time. The staff just seems like they don't wanna be there lol. Our waitress wasn't helpful AT ALL. Asked her questions about the menu and she just shrugged her shoulders. Ok girl. Got the crab and shrimp garlic noodles. I was kinda upset that the crabs wasn't just crab meat, it was actually clusters of crab. Overall, it was ok. The ambiance was cool. We was looking to watch the game which they have a lot of tvs. Only downside is, is that they play music while the game is on. I prefer the TV commentary. Parking is plenty. You don't have to worry about having to pay to park.

We stopped in on a Tuesday night to check it out. I'm originally from Cali so our H-Town friends were excited to have us try this place. It's a cool place but there is a lot of room for improvement. First it's extremely loud. It was R&B night, the singers were good but it was so loud you couldn't hear yourself think let alone have a conversation with anyone. One of the biggest draw backs is the fact that you order and pay and are asked to tip before you get your food. The food left a lot to be desired and in my opinion is over priced. The fried rice pictured is $15 and you pay an extra $7 for meat. $22 for fried rice is insane! The food wasn't flavorful at all. The descriptions of the food don't match what you actually get. As a native Californian I'm disappointed that this is the H-town representation of my home state.

My experience at Cali HTX was decent. At first, I was thrown off because my husband and I walked in, and it would over 5 minutes for us to be acknowledged. That definitely rubbed me the wrong way. But once we were greeted and sat, things got better. There weren't many people in the restaurant, but it was still a vibe. The music was good. Our server was knowledgeable. All of our food was really good as well.

Food- Good! Mac and cheese with Cajun seasoning chicken... the Wings as well Drinks- I don't get the specialty drinks but my Go-To Green Tea shots are the TRUTH! Good vibes & service is on point! Events are on random nights; art shows, local music artist & plenty of vendors I like it! Go meet Naudia at the bar

There's no bad seat in the house. If you're coming here for any kind of championship sports event, come early and get your seat cause it gets packed. You also avoid waiting in line for ID check. We got there 2-3 hours early, ordered drinks and ordered food from the food trucks. The taco truck's street tacos were so good, but it was a 40-45 minute wait that day...and it was SO HOT out. You get a buzzer, so there's no point in waiting by the truck. Might be quicker on other regular days, though. The burger food truck was quicker, but I wasn't in the mood for it. There's a variety of seating for whatever you prefer - picnic table, iron table, bar table, and cushioned patio lounge chairs. The servers checked in often and brought the drinks out. There's a free water station with cups. Restrooms are down one end. Ironically, on the game day, the women's restroom line moved quicker than the men's! Lol. I told him I had just spoken to someone yesterday, and he "you have wrong information, there's no way we can do reservations with this many people - you probably called the corporate office (it's the number listed on their website so that made no sense)" and was very dismissive of me and not apologetic whatsoever. It's totally understandable that reservations wouldn't be possible on a World Cup day. Seems like the staff are not all on the same page, or I was misled to just get my group into the bar (which has happened at other bars during the tournament so it's not unheard of). Had to take my three nieces elsewhere at the last minute and don't imagine I'll be returning after that experience.

I've been an avid Netherlands' futbol supporter over the last 30+ years and never knew a place existed in Houston.. but was pleasantly surprised to have seen this packed house with a very lively atmosphere inside.. They got a DJ, people were singing and dancing along to Dutch songs, definitely felt like a proper watch party. Most of the crowd there tho, like myself, weren't actually Dutch, but everyone was just there for the vibes. That said, we ended up standing outside because it was probably over capacity. Took me a good 30 minutes just to order a bucket of Heinekens. From what I can tell, this place's giving more of a neighborhood dive bar. It was hot and crowded as one can get (probably over capacity if you ask me.. the parking was hard to find in the neighborhoods nearby and we had to walk a good 5-10min), and $35 for a bucket of 6 small Heinekens isn't really the best deal.. but can't blame them. I did enjoy seeing the Dutch orange bus as it was out on display right outside the bar. Great photo op Overall I'm glad to have come and experienced it, would like to check this place out again under normal circumstances to get a better feel for it.

When I said no-frills, I meant it. The drink selection is quite slim and for someone who go out of their way for beer, there weren't really many other options. Our large party had a buffet of food - all of it was basic but tasty - panko-breaded chicken tenders, chips and queso, and quesadillas. Service was actually stellar throughout our time here. Bartenders and servers came around to our group frequently to ask if they could get us anything. I did not expect that from a divey bar like this. While I wasn't blown away by this place and probably don't have much reason to come back, I can see why folks would come out here for a drink or to watch a game, especially if living in the Spring Branch area.

They have plenty of tables inside and seating at the bar. The patio area has a nice covered area with some TVs, typically with a local sports game on. Typically at least a couple of families are around, either playing a game or just enjoying the patio with a cold pint. Food & Drink - 4.75* Great local craft beer selection! Definitely give the wall a close look as there's probably something you haven't tried unless you frequent the place already. For food, they have plenty to choose from. Starter and shareables such as chips & queso, pretzels, flautas, or spinach & artichoke dip. For mains you can grab a salad or a guilty pleasure like burgers, wings, and chicken sandwiches. I've had plenty of the items and have never been disappointed. I definitely recommend the onion rings if you go with a sandwich meal. That's not to say the tots or fries are bad, it's just their onion rings are really on point. On Thursday they do ribeye night, so give it a go if you're looking for something a bit more substantial. Service - 4* I've found generally speaking the service is pretty good when ordering at the bar. They can get a little busy at times and slow, but never egregious. Everyone is quite friendly when you ask questions and looking for some recommendations. Cost - 4.25* Always subjective, for me, I find their pricing pretty good for an above average pint and burger. If I were to knock it a little, I think some of the larger brewers "easy drinking" lighter beers could carry a slightly less cost, or maybe run more "specials" to sell at volume with thinner margin. Just a suggestion. Overall, I've never been turned off by any of the pricing. It's definitely refreshing to support local brewers and a local bar more than going to some of the more corporate establishments that sit nearby. Overall - 4.5* Whether you live nearby or need a good meetup location for family and friends around the city, this is a spot I'd recommend to anyone seeking a laid back family atmosphere.
