This was by far my favorite place to watch the World Cup games while in town! Flew in for 3 days for the Portugal vs Uzbekistan game. The day before the game we hit up twin peaks after we arrived and checked into our hotel. Although it was cool there, we were looking for more football fans with vibes so we decided to check out Kirby Ice House and was so happy we did! The following day after we left our World Cup game, we went back to twin peaks to grab wings to go and headed back to Kirby's for the next 5 hours for the remaining games! It's a HUGE sports bar with LOTS of TVs and seating areas/options. If you don't mind the heat, they have a huge outdoor patio with plenty of TVs. Me?? We avoided that until the sun went down lol. Inside they still have a lot of tables and TVs or you can opt for the bar and there's plenty of TVs there as well. I love that the vibe in here is super chill! Everyone was very nice. Kim the bartender was the best! They don't serve food but they have different food trucks each day (they have a schedule on their website) and they also allow you to bring outside food just not alcohol. Came to Kirby Ice House on Gessner for a work event to host a few managers and catch an Astros game, and overall it was a solid spot. First off--this place is HUGE. The indoor bar area is massive, and the patio is just as big, making it great for large groups or events. It definitely has that laid-back, social vibe, and it's also dog-friendly, which is a nice touch. Customer service was good, and the drink prices were reasonable, especially for a place of this size and popularity. It did get pretty crowded, which adds to the energy if you're going for that kind of atmosphere. There isn't a full kitchen, but there was a food truck on-site (I believe it was Hearsay). It was okay--not bad, but nothing standout. You can also bring in outside food or order from nearby spots, which is convenient. Stopped in after work for a business meeting. The place was crowded and loud but there is plenty of parking in the area. They have a ton of beer options but very little food options. You can order in DoorDash or there is a food truck out back. The service was good and the waitress was around when we needed her. I decided to join friends at Kirby's Ice House to watch the Texans playoff game. When I arrived, there were security officers directing traffic and telling us where to park. There were cars everywhere and all the normal lots appeared to be full. I was directed to the commercial garage next door and a nice officer directed me to park on the 3rd floor or higher. I easily found a park and took the elevator down, making a new friend along the way. I found my friends and noticed there were several bars set up and open in addition to the regular bar. There were warming heaters everywhere which made the chilly day not so cold. There were also several waitresses quickly serving guests. Everyone was super nice and accommodating. We tried the food truck getting the brisket sandwich with corn and fries. Both were tasty. The day was great and the venue definitely took every precaution to accommodate the large crowd and yet still provide excellent customer service. read more

I've been to Kirby Ice House twice now for work networking events and both times I've had a good experience but never felt like I would come back for personal hang outs with friends. It's just not a fun atmosphere in my opinion. Drinks were decent, prices I feel like were a bit on the higher side, large space inside and outside (smoking is allowed outside), but nothing really enticed me enough to want to come back. My boyfriend and I wanted to catch a soccer match, so we stopped by Kirby Ice House Memorial. There is plenty of parking in the lot across the street. The place is huge, with lots of tables and seating both indoors and outdoors. There are probably at least 20 TVs, and each one had a different game playing. Unfortunately, none of them were showing the soccer match we were hoping to watch. I asked a staff member if they could switch the channel on one of the TVs to our game, and they were kind enough to do it! I really appreciated that small gesture. It meant a lot to us! I ordered two drinks. The first was a frozen margarita, which was just okay. It was a bit too salty for my taste. My second drink was a peach whiskey lemonade, and it was really good! While I was ordering my second drink, our server noticed I hadn't finished the margarita and kindly offered to take it off our tab. I was really touched by their thoughtfulness and attentiveness. I need to really acknowledge Mackenzie. We had a small office happy hour from 3-6 on a Thursday (5/15), and she was our assigned server. The place was packed (don't these people work?) and we tried to be as efficient as we could in ordering, etc., and Mackenzie was on it! She had other tables and, let's be hones, it is a large space so it was pretty packed, but she never made us feel neglected nor did any of us ever have to hunt her down to get our drinks. Welcome to the Biggest Bar in Texas. Caveat. I'm not a drinker. Went for a work meeting. My office had a space of three tables for our group. Since you can bring in food, one was stacked high with Dominoes Pizzas. Cheese, pepperoni and veggie. Large unpaved parking lot across the street. Walked to the outdoor picnic tables with oversized screens to watch the game. Loved the outdoor space. Then back to the work event inside. Got my two drink tickets. Looked at the bar menu before I went. As an Ice House, they have an extensive selection of beers on tap, wines and cocktails. 51 beers on tap. No mock-tails on the menu though, so I went to the bar to ask them to modify a cocktail and was told to wait for the server to come by. Back to the table and waited to place my order. Finally, the waitress came by and she did not know what a mock-tail meant or how to modify a cocktail by leaving out the alcohol. Surprising. Ordered a cranberry mule using ginger beer. Got a regular cup filled with lots of ice, then never saw the waitress again. Left after an hour and a half. Would have liked a Topo Chico as my second drink. For someone who enjoys cold beer on tap, this place would be great. For a work event, I would plan another venue. read more

Not a huge fan of Houston for so many reasons but this is a nice little gem. I have been here a few times now. Have stayed in the area for years and didn't really realize that this place was even here. This is one of these spots that is so easy to drive by...being just off the freeway (90% of Houston). There are a few things around it, some taco places and a great seafood spot on the other side! this though is a great place to come for a drink, watch a game and enjoy the crowds and the weather. Most of it is open-air which being a mid-west guy I love! I will say I am a little bummed they just have the one food truck, although the food is very good! they are very open to having food delivered in or bringing it in with you! I will come back again. This is the second installment of Kirby Ice House in the Greater Houston area. Kirby in the loop used to be one of my favorite bars, but the ones in the suburbs trumps that one. I think this particular one may be my favorite out of the three though. What I like about this location is that it is right off the highway and easily accessible. Parking is plentiful. It's bigger than the one in the loop but smaller than the Woodlands location. Customer service has always been on point on my visits. This location has a large inside with plenty of seats out in the open as well as a long bar with bar stools. If you are more of an outdoorsy person, the patio is quite large with lots of seating. They also have a huge screen outside as well as lots of TVs all around for your viewing pleasure. What I mostly like about the Kirbys is their large selection of beers on tap. They advertise as having 51 beers on tap and I have never run across them not having what I order. They really go out of their way to get as many local and Texas beers as they can. If you are more of a cocktail or straight liquor person, they do a good job of that too. Like their other locations, they have a rotation of food trucks here every night. You will not go hungry. They also have restaurants within walking distance. Overall, this is definitely my favorite Kirby and I will definitely be back! read more

I frequent the Kirby Ice Houses every few months to catch up with friends and am a big fan of the friendly service, the big space, and the variety of activities. But my most recent visit deserves a special shoutout. My friend went to grab a drink, and she was approached by a guy who was making her uncomfortable. When she got back, two staff members followed after and told us that if we ever felt unsafe, we should let them know and they'll escort the person out. Though a small act, it means a lot for the gals and doesn't go unnoticed. Bonus points in my book! read more

What a find! The wife is a diehard LSU fan, and although we're a house divided with me being an Alabama fan, I can root for LSU as long as they're not playing AL. But to the review. A very spacious establishment with plenty of parking across the street. Plenty of indoor seating. Free shuffleboard setup, and some arcade games like basketball nets. Decided that I was tired of my alumini group not being too active. Figured this was a decent in the middle spot. Wow I was not prepared for how busy it was on a Thursday at 5:30. The parking was insanely busy. Thankfully it's a decent size lot. We were able to find a high top inside since our group was too small to make a reservation which was funny since other tables were single tables reserved when they said no to my call for under 25 people. The math wasn't mathing to me on how others were able to. The waitress was attentive when she was able to be. We were originally declined service due to not being a girls area. The waitress who ended up serving us went from all the way by the entrance to the end of the cover patio which I found crazy. I appreciated the decent drink specials. 2/25/2023: Astros first Spring Training game, sun was out, tasty crawfish and the beer was flowing. Pretty good day in my opinion! This bar is truly beautiful! Great service, nostalgic photos hang throughout, rotating food truck and very spacious. There's an open yet air conditioned area, a completely covered area with fans, a semi covered area and a full sunshine area. Someone really thought this place through. The available seating is amazing! This is a dog friendly bar. I feel bad I haven't brought my pup to experience the fun. Next time for sure! Very impressive! I counted 4 Elvis photos. So apparently this place exists. I was meeting some people and accidentally went to the other one by Richmond first so boy was I embarrassed! Fortunately it was during that 18 inning Astros game so I got to watch both the 15th and last innings at two different locations. On that particular night parking really sucked so I can't judge them on that without going back on a regular night but I'm glad this location exists because there really isn't much to do around here unless you want to go to City Centre and ain't nobody wants to go to City Centre and deal with that mess. Leave that area for the fancy people who like "fine dining" and families who don't get out much. Kirby isn't exactly cheap but it's what you'd expect: Easy to get to, laid back, and a great place to just hang out casually and watch a game or meet up with people. First off this is the biggest bar in Texas and I thought I was being respectful and I asked them nicely for a drink but then the refused to make my drink and demanded me to apologize in order for me to get a drink. The place is very spacious and accommodating for a few people or many. The staff was helpful and very welcoming when placing my orders. My first visit here and I was impressed by how big the bar was, its a very big bar, the bartenders have a lot of ground to cover on a packed day but this was a sunday night and not a packed evening at all. So the fallowing pains me to say. I was disappointed by the service provided by the female bartender. It was not a packed evening like I said and I was surprised to notice this, but the bartender was ignoring my date for a bit. After initially taking my order the bartender decided to carry a conversation with her fellow bartender first and didn't take my date's order untill she was done talking to the other bartender. I felt like that was done on purpose because my date was not white. My date was a bigger person than me because she still tipped the bartender when she paid for a round. This is a first time I have not tipped due to service not being friendly and intentionally making us wait. I can't recall the last time a female bartende not being friendly she never cracked a smile while she served us. My date didn't let this ruin our evening as a matter of fact she didn't even mention it. It had been a fun evening for us prior to arriving here and our fun was not going to end because of this one bartender. It did bother me though when I noticed my date's eyes stopped smiling for a bit when this happened....actually this broke my heart seeing her eyes get dim like that for a few seconds. Anyways the drinks still did their job but the margarita was not what I expected from a fully stocked bar. This bar is very spacious compared to the other sports bars I've been to. Despite this, the indoor seats get pretty crowded during game time. I want this location to install better shading on its outdoor seating so that on a hot day during game time, I don't have to feel like I'm overheating. This is a big problem I have with Kirby Ice House. I tried to order a Negroni and a Daiquiri, 2 of the most popular cocktails of 2023, but they said they couldnt make it. I was able to get a dry Martini, and after checking the QR code menu, I find out that none of these 3 drinks were on the menu. This means that I have to play a guessing game on what cocktails they don't serve. And I'm really surprised that they can't make Negronis or Daiquiris considering how popular these drinks are. read more
