My car was rear-ended in Nob Hill on Valentine's Day (after a nice dinner out with my hubby…read more.. sigh). The good part: the guy who hit me had the same insurance company as me, so claim processing was pretty easy. The bad part: the insurance company steered me to their associated collision repair facility, which declared my car a total loss (ARGH!) only because the cost of repairs exceeded 75% of the value of the car. I wouldn't have been able to buy a new (or even used) car of the same quality with the insurance buyout, and I just KNEW the car was repairable. I found Southwest Collision Craftsmen here on Yelp, read all their good reviews, and went to them. Bottom line: except for a few factors (which were relatively minor in the long run), I'm VERY happy I did! Manny (the owner) and a manager both did thorough inspections to arrive at a repair estimate that was significantly lower than the insurance company's facility quoted. (Of course, it helped that I provided a copy of the other place's estimate!) I had several long conversations with Manny about the pros and cons of going ahead with the repair. We faced a substantial risk of them getting way into it, then finding (after ripping the car apart to the point of no return) that it was not repairable after all - at which point I'd have to pay for the work to date, then scrap it. Manny made sure I understood the risks from all angles in advance. We took the chance, and it paid off. YAY! The downsides: 1) I had to make multiple appointments and come back multiple times to get SWCC's estimate finalized and get the work going. 2) The work took MUCH longer than they anticipated (several weeks longer!), even with built-in timeframes for ordering & delivery of parts. There were delays in starting the work, and delays in promised completion dates. 3) While Manny is a very friendly, sociable guy, that sometimes leads to in-person and phone conversations that are way longer than necessary just to get updates. The upsides: 1) SWCC stuck by their repair estimate, and did not add extra costs or any work we had not already discussed. No surprises on the final bill! 2) When I finally got my car back, it looked GREAT! Better than it did before I got rear-ended! 3) I got to keep the car I loved, and the repairs were ALL covered by insurance and then some. WIN-WIN! In the end, I was VERY happy with how everything turned out. Despite the relatively minor glitches, Manny and the staff at SWCC are very helpful, friendly, thorough and professional. And the technicians' work is EXCELLENT. If you need top-quality collision repair at a fair price, I highly recommend Southwest Collision Craftsmen.

They even identified damage that i had not noticed and repaired it. The repairs took a while, but they were upfront about how long it would take. They can't order the parts until they are sure about all the damage to the vehicle, which they can't always see until they disassemble the affected areas. I am very happy with my experience.

This business has been a nightmare to deal with! The owner of the business died from Covid a couple…read moreyears ago, and it's Jackie, the wife of the deceased, Angie, the daughter, and Sammie, the son in law running the business. They rarely ever answer their business phone, and all communication is done via email by the daughter who does it from home. The daughter claims that they had several techs when I first made my $9,100 deposit on April 12, 2024, and now they only have the son in law, who was rarely ever there doing any work. They made the mistake of getting greedy and overbooked themselves, and, unlike the founder of Gilson's Auto Body, they have no idea how to run a business. Every time I contacted the daughter by email, I was simply strung along with excuses and lies. I told them they should have refunded my money when they realized they were overbooked instead of keeping my vehicle indefinitely without it getting repaired or giving me a completion date. But Angela, the daughter, tried to gaslight me by telling me I was the only customer that wasn't patient and compassionate, despite the many negative reviews they've gotten over the past 2 years. But, after over 6 weeks of waiting for them to even start working on my truck, I finally had enough and on Friday July 5th I filed a complaint with the New Mexico Justice Department Consumer Complaint Division. The following Monday, they sent out a group email to all of their customers that they are closing their business for good and will be locking their gates and appts must be made to pick up vehicles. But I had to threaten that I'd bring a police escort if they didn't allow me to pick up my truck and they finally let me pick it up on July 11, 7 weeks after I originally dropped it off! In the email notice, they also stated that they plan to refund deposits to all their customers, but it could take up to 90 days because they first have to sell their building and business to be able to get the money to pay customers their money back! They also threatened to file bankruptcy if anyone tried to force them to give them their money back before 90 days! This business is not only dishonest, but they are fraudulent. They take your money and make promises they can't keep! Then they spend your money and aren't able to pay you back when they fail to complete the services that they promised to do. If they don't return my $9,100 deposit within the next 30 days, I will be taking them to court and filing a lien against their property and business!

A young manager has no managerial skills at long. I don't think they will be in business much longer. Stay away from if you need something done. You will never get on time. There good at blowing customers off.
