Kudos to Joe Lopez at Caliber Collision for guiding me through the process of restoring the paint on my 2006 Toyota Tacoma. I originally went in to speak with Joe about repainting the entire truck. The paint on the roof, hood, and bumper had started to peel and showed clear signs of weathering, so I assumed a full repaint--costing thousands--was my only option. After assessing my truck, Joe explained that about 80% of the paint was still in good condition and that a full repaint wasn't necessary. He told me he could blend the new paint with the existing finish as best as he could to achieve a uniform look, ultimately saving me a significant amount of money. I was hesitant at first, but I trusted his expertise and decided to follow his recommendation. When I saw the finished product, I was blown away. Joe and his team restored my truck to a pristine condition--better than I imagined possible. They even went above and beyond by addressing additional defects without me asking. My Tacoma looks nearly identical to the day I bought it 20 years ago. It is possible that they do a good job of repairing vehicles if you are paying out of pocket or if its a brand new car, but if your insurance company sends you to them to get an assessment/estimate after a collision I do not recommend going here unless you want your car to be fraudulently labeled a "total loss." My Honda Civic only had 158k miles on it and had some cosmetic damage to the driver's side. The car is completely driveable, in fact you can hardly see anything on it. They just went through a checklist stating everything needed to be replaced including parts that were not even touched by the accident. The estimate requires documenting the mileage on the car which they did not do. They labeled the car as a "total loss" without actually assessing the value of the car (this is needed to make the necessary calculation). They were from the outset letting me know that I could go to their colleagues down the street to get the car repairs "WHEN" it was a total loss. I have taken it to several other autobody shops (all higher rated than Caliber) all of whom looked at the Caliber estimate and laughed at it stating it was a scam. A shop on the same street said Caliber always just checks off everything as needing to replace to inflate the estimate and "total loss" the car. This is a HUGE hardship because now my perfectly functioning car has to go through an expesive inspection process in addition to repair and has to be registered again. Unfortunately, our vehicle was in an accident, and the other driver's insurance, Progressive, suggested Caliber Collision for the repair since it was in their network of preferred shops. There are three Caliber locations on Albrae, I made the mistake of going to the wrong location first so double check the address! My sister and I worked with RC throughout the process, and he reassured us that the car would look as good as it did before the accident. The staff at Caliber was accommodating and welcoming, even offering us rides to and from Enterprise, which was extremely nice of them. Caliber had our vehicle for about a week, and it was all finished. We are pleased with how the repair came out, and they even gave it a courtesy wash and vacuum.
