If this is the previous business Koester Automotive under a new name stay away!!!! They are crooked and do bad work. I had my Prius repaired there many years ago and it was never right from the moment I picked it up and I still suffer with the bad work. They called me that is was ready and I drove away and none of the lights worked, like turning signals, etc... I should have known better when the one of the first things was they recommended a lawyer who wanted me to say my back hurt. Obviously they are in together with this ambulance chaser to split profits from a settlement. I swear this on my life to be true. Not sure if California Coach Craft is the same business, if Koester had to change its name because of legal issues I would not be surprised in the slightest. The man I worked with at Koester (I think he was the owner) had olive skin and was bald, maybe Egyptian or middle eastern nationality. 1 star is too many.....please stay away from this con man or yo will regret it. read more

It's an extremely convenient location, right off the 101/405. It's obvious that Sam and his team are very knowledgeable about cars. My experience here was very good. I came in last weekend to get my oil changed and came back this morning with my wife's car to get the breaks replaced. Having some trust issues with car mechanics, I picked this place based on my brother in law's recommendation, he had them work on his car a few months ago and was very pleased with their service. All the positive yelp reviews helped as well and, based on my own personal experience, are very accurate. Initially, do to some squeaking noise while breaking, I thought I need new brake pads. After about 30 minutes of wait, Ben looked at my car and told me that my pads were fine and the car had passed inspection. The front brakes were at about 50% and he suggested I come back in a few months to get those done. Any other mechanic would've taken advantage of the situation and charge me hundreds of dollars to "fix" something just to capitalize on my lack of car knowledge. Great place to take a car for body damage repair. Quality work and great service! I got into an accident with my almost brand new Tesla Model 3, damaging the driver's side quarter panel and rear bumper. After reading reviews on the official Tesla-authorized body shops taking as long as 3 months for similar body repairs, I decided to check out Koester near my work. Ben was very thorough in assessing the damage, helped to deal with the insurance, and made sure the repairs were done just right. California Coach Craft - Nearly $500 for 1.5 hours of labor alone to replace two rotors and one brake pad...Over $700 total. - Auto Repair Near Me - Sherman Oaks, California

DO NOT GO HERE. YOU WILL BE OVERCHARGED. Let me start off with the facts here. I took my car in for an oil change and A/C repair. I ended up leaving in $3300 in repairs. Less than one month later, my A/C broke again, and I was charged another $1500. I asked why they hadn't fixed this A/C problem the first time and Ben replied "maybe we didn't look at the condenser the first time." WHAT? You "repaired" the A/C and didn't look at the condenser? I then took my car to another mechanic, who looked at the invoice I was given from Koester. The mechanic literally said "who is this that overcharged you? This man is a criminal." Of course, I felt like a fool. This is what the other mechanic told me: There are industry standards on how much labor can be charged for certain repairs. I was literally charged TRIPLE these standards. For example, they charged me two and a half hours labor to replace my hood struts. The standard is 30 minutes. They charged 3 hours of labor to replace the expansion tank. Industry standard is 50 minutes. Other overcharges: I was charged $200 to mount and balance the wheels. My new mechanic told me the standard is around $120. I was charged almost $300 for A/C service. Standard is well under $200. I was charged $660 to recondition 2 wheels. Standard is about $150 per wheel. I was charged $152 to have my wheels aligned. Other mechanic says most people charge about $80. Then, after spending $4500 in repairs, I took my car into this new mechanic who did a 32 point inspection, and they found that one of the wheels had "excessive unsafe movement," and they told me that my car is not safe to drive. THIS IS AFTER THEY "FIXED" THE WHEELS AT KOESTER. This is absolutely unbelievable. It is everyone's worst fear that their mechanic will take advantage of them because they don't know any better, and this did it. I am writing this as a public service announcement. Unless you know exactly how much things should cost and you are car savvy, avoid this place. Or maybe if your insurance is covering all of the costs. That is, of course, if you want to support the business of someone who blatantly takes advantage of people. read more

I consider myself pretty good with car maintenance, but when I acquired my cousin's 1993 Jeep Cherokee as a second vehicle, I was at a loss! An older, big American car with an automatic transmission was not my forte. And to make matters worse, the car hadn't been driven in five years! I knew I would need someone reliable and trustworthy to work on the car for a while--and I wasn't too particular about doing business at a pricey dealership. So I got on Yelp, and decided to give Koester Automotive a try. It was within walking distance of my house and got solid reviews. It was a great decision b/c Koester Automotive brought my Jeep back to life!!! The car had a tank of gas that turned to a glue-like substance after sitting for years. So Ben took his time cleaning out the fuel injection system and engine (which was a really huge task--we're talking sludge here) and doing the normal things like battery replacement and replacing fluids, filters, etc. On top of that, Ben arranged for me to have my car detailed on his premises, and took the car in himself for the "Grade A" smog check! While I could have done these tasks myself, the added convenience of having someone you trust handle these details was a real time saver, especially when you work 20 miles away. (And by the way, my smog report numbers are so good, you would think the car was brand new!) In terms of communication, I found Ben to be a great communicator, easy to reach by phone, and took his time giving me all of the updates and details about my car. He was also kind enough to advise me on things I "should do soon" and things that "could wait." He never pushed and listened to my requests to keep costs down by putting off certain tasks and came within my budget. My new-old Jeep has its go-to guy and it's Ben @ Koester. My reason for visiting Koester Automotive is my 02 Honda needed it's 150,000 mile maintenance, breaks, and a new air conditioning, I mean a lot of upkeep type work. I had taken my car into another shop for an outrageous quote. Needless to say I didn't have AC for a whole year because I was told I had to replace it and it would be close to $800. Ben took a look at it and told me it just needed a simple part for $60 bucks and 1 hour of labor. Also, he said I didn't need the full 150,000 mile work, only a couple things. He saved me that day. I needed my car to get to work, and didn't have much money. What I appreciate most about Ben and his team is his honesty. He won't make you fix something you don't need. Ben is definitely one of the most affable mechanics I have come across. Which can be hard to find in Los Angeles. He's always been able to fit me in and has always fixed my car with the utmost care. I've been able to schedule rather last minute oil changes and he still manages to get me in and out in about a half hour, despite weekends always being busy for mechanics. I've never had any problems with my car after one of his repairs. I've had my brakes done by a dozen of mechanics over the past decade, all with the same vehicle, and they always seem to start breaking down not but a few short months after the repair, however, since going to Koester, they've been fine for a year now and counting. He is good about keeping in contact and informing you every step of the way on prices and what needs to be done, never acting without your permission. Always putting the customer first and doing everything he can to get your car repaired and back to you in a reasonable amount of time. He even has a loaner car he can provide you if the repairs will be more intensive than you hoped and you'll need some way to get to work. I've always found his prices to be completely fair and often cheaper than other mechanics I've gone to in the area. Yes indeedy! I just picked up my newly-resurrected car from Koester Automotive after a neighbor whacked it while it was parked on the street (Read: shock, disbelief, panic). The whole experience gave me an immediate cluster headache until I drove into the first shop I saw, Koester. Ben and Lana helped me with the entire process with such patience, professionalism and pride in workmanship that I had to share this on Yelp. Skeptical about repair shops, with no time to do research, I even asked if I could look up their reviews before leaving my car and was even allowed to use their computer! All the five star ratings quelled my reservations. Next, they called for car rental to pick me up (and drove me back once, as well). Once the insurance was involved, they advised me, helped me negotiate factory parts by giving me a new estimate to the show insurance company the difference was negligible. When the insurance balked at electrical damage being part of the damage, Ben had a fuse changed and fixed the problem gratis. That item was one they wouldn't even agree to be included in the estimate and he simply stepped in a took care of it. Wow! While checking on my car the next day, a distraught woman came to the office and I told her, "do whatever they suggest," knowing that someone wanting to pay cash and not involve insurance was my temporary nightmare that I found myself in the day before. A nightmare that Ben told me how to navigate successfully. She had the headache I knew so well and Koester had the cure. But unfortunately for her, she chose not to leave her car there and they're hands were tied. Now, the other party is fighting her to say she drove into their driveway and hit the other car even though the damage is on her rear fender. Anyway, it makes no sense, but unless you have great place like Koester advocating with insurance by explaining why your version of the accident makes sense, CSI-style, you are on your own. I mean, I was even advocating with my own insurance company, even with full coverage. Take it from a New Yorker, whose only experience with cars (pre-LA) was yelling, "taxi," go to Koester for completely stress-free encounter. I don't know what I would have done without them. Oh, and my car looks so brand spankin' new that I got a little emotional when I saw it. This place is perfection for your wheels! read more

I can't thank Koesters Automotive enough for the work and service on my car. I immediately felt comfortable that my car was in good hands after meeting Ben. Even over the phone Ben's knowledge and patience regarding next steps put right at ease. I had a unique situation. Not only was my car severely damaged in the front end but my insurance had denied my claim. Ben always called me back and gave me the options on how to move forward. I did what I needed to do to get the car worked on and the rest was easy. I can honestly say that at Koesters when you take one step towards them they are willing to take two steps towards you.
