National Fish Taco Day All Weekend Long promo Free fish taco (Battered Fish or Cajun Fish) w/ any purchase in the app Haven't been to California Fish Grill in a very long time. Seeing the National Fish Taco Day promo email, I thought it opportune to swing by and visit, again. Perusing the taco options, the fish used for the Battered & Cajun fish tacos is swai, which I avoid, as I've read swai are farm-raised w/ GMO feed in the Mekong River, which is allegedly highly contaminated. I actually used to have swai (aka pangasius/Hong Kong catfish) in my various freshwater aquariums, back in my teenage years. Not having any other option, I decided to bite the bullet and go for a Cajun Swai taco. For the required purchase, I decided to donate $1 to No Kid Hungry, which the app provided the option for. Cajun Swai taco- Ordering via the app & arriving within 10 minutes, my first impressions from CFG's Cajun Swai taco were that the meat was overcooked & not warm/hot, meaning the swai was cooked awhile ago, awaiting the next order. Also, instead of fillets, 2 small nuggets were what were inside the taco. I did enjoy the accoutrement of marinated onions, roasted corn, pico de gallo, red cabbage, cilantro & Green Goddess dressing. For a $1 donation to No Kid Hungry, I was content with my order. However, for the regular price of $4.99, I would've been disappointed. I remember California Fish Grill used to have a well-appointed condiment bar, with everything from cocktail sauce to roasted tomatillo salsa. But, unfortunately, now it's no longer self-serve, and requires asking an employee. Originally, I gave California Fish Grill in Cerritos 5 stars, way back in 2014. Flash forward to present day, I'm giving a generous 3 stars. California Fish Grill has signs promoting how they use 100% sustainable seafood, but if they're sourcing sustainable garbage fish, then it doesn't matter, at least to me. Unless I receive another promo offer, such as a birthday month promo, I don't foresee myself visiting anytime soon. read more

This was my first time here. You order at the counter either using a kiosk or talking to a person. They call you when your food is ready and you come up and get it. There are lots of tables. They have the stubborn drink machine, so there are choices that you don't normally see. There is also Pepsi and Pepsi zero. I ordered a bowl with kale salad, white rice, chicken cut up, pickled onions, and garlic sauce. The garlic sauce is pretty strong, but very tasty. I decided I'm really not a fan of kale. There was music playing in the background. I was familiar with all the songs, so it was very enjoyable. The staff are are very friendly. OK. Here's the important part. Get the app and sign up. I just did and they sent me a bowl with mixed proteins and rice. I get two weeks to use it. That is extremely generous for being a new patron at a restaurant. This is my first time in this location and I was shocked at how big it was. When you enter there is a huge menu above the registers. Makes it easy to see even if the line is backed up. There are two self service ordering station. It was easy to use and our orders flowed smoothly. Our food was great. We asked for hot sauce and they only had Tapatio and Tabasco. I slathered that Tabasco on my fried catfish. No regrets. Craft soda was not my thing. Pepsi is also not my thing. The two iced tea they had to offer both tasted pretty bland. If you don't like any of these drinks, I'd save the nearly $4 charge and get a water cup. read more
