I've been to California Fish Grill a few times, and I genuinely enjoy the food. It tastes fresh and its presentation is appetizing. I lead a healthy eating lifestyle and CFG allows me to indulge without guilt or bloat. The ambiance is clean and relaxing for a decent dine-in experience so I've patterned myself to dine-in. I don't feel like people are seated too close, and even when it's busy the spacing disallows a crowded feeling. It's great! Now, the service - in my opinion - has never disappointed. In particular, there's this standout employee named ISAIAH. He's helped me the last couple-to-few times I've dined-in and I would've gotten my orders all wrong had it not been for him. He's demonstrated a friendly and professional attitude. He's considerate about making sure I get my order proper - I tend to customize. His demeanor is calm which makes me feel comfortable throughout my dining experience. I know I'll be well taken care of when ISAIAH is around. We stopped in for lunch today. Surprisingly we found the restaurant pretty empty around 12:30 pm. I was expecting a lunch crowd. Orders were taken at the kiosks. Cooks were visible behind the counter. My husband tried the lobster rolls and enjoyed them. I thought they were pricey, but changed my mind after taking a bite. They were pretty good. I had the swai with garlic butter sauce and white rice. A side of fried shrimp was just ok. I saw a sign with Taco Tuesday and will probably try it some other time. First time dining in this location and first thing first got greeted by George and he was really helpful asked me if I needed any help ordering or any questions on the menu. I didn't even know this place existed. Drove by here multiple times. I was looking for a good place around town to get fish and chips. I ordered the 2 peice fish anf chips. The fish was flavorful and not oily or greasy like most places. The chips were not salty and had a light house seasoning on them. They had two self serve ordering kiosks there and they had on associate taking orders. This place had plenty of table and room for dinning in. Upon arriving at California Fish Grill, my mother and I were greeted with such enthusiasm and kindness. One of the employees went above and beyond to help us choose from the menu. We ended up ordering the fish tacos and a grilled fish plate, and everything was absolutely delicious! What really stood out was the exceptional service. The same employee even came by to clean our table and kindly told us to take our time and enjoy our meal. It's not often you experience that level of genuine care and hospitality. Grills were down, so no bowls available. Tacos were a good size, fully loaded, with tasty flakey fish. Kale slaw was odd and dry. I do not recommend the fries. Old and soggy. Ordering tablet kept glitching and sending me back to Home Screen or picking a random item the way a cracked phone screen does. Menu is hard to navigate since it doesn't list choice of sides only what you can upgrade to for extra charge. No AC on a very hot day, just a huge fan blowing across the dining area. I've ordered from this restaurant a number of times through Door Dash. Yesterday, I decided to order and pick up the food at the actual restaurant. My first impression of this place was that it looked very trendy with its modern industrial decor. For some reason, I always pictured this place being a bare bones Mom and Pop operation. Turns out this is a chain restaurant. Not that there's anything wrong with that. This place has a couple of kiosks where you can order your food, but I wasn't given the opportunity to use it. There was an employee next to the kiosk who tapped on the kiosk for me. This was my one knock against this place. The employee rushed me through the order, tapping on the screen very fast. She didn't let me look at the menu carefully. Anyway, my order was ready relatively fast and it was predictably good. I always get the battered fish since it's crispy on the outside and steamy on the inside. The breaded shrimp here is very good as well. One thing I didn't know this place had were lobster rolls. I noticed it on signage while I was waiting for the food (no way I would have caught it on the kiosk menu screen with the speed at which the employee was tapping on the kiosk). Hubby remembered eating lunch here and highly recommended it so we came for lunch today. There's a large menu board when you enter but it doesn't describe the item. Then there's only kiosks to order and luckily there's an employee to help order and answer questions. They have a good selection of bowls and I ordered the citrus shrimp bowl - lightly breaded with a sweet citrus sauce on a bed of rice that had green onions,cabbage,sesame seeds. Been to this location a couple of times. I do have to give the disclaimer that I am not one that enjoys any kind of seafood. I hardly ate it growing up and still don't enjoy the flavor today. That being said, I have tried both the swai and tilapia in their garlic butter sauce and it wasn't bad. Their rice is fluffy and buttery too which helps. Not sure how this place fairs compared to other seafood, but if I thought it was okay, then it must be pretty good. My brother who does enjoy seafood likes it too. Even got my toddler to eat it. It's an order at the counter type place. This plaza is pretty large with a large parking lot so it's easy to get to and park. I had a really frustrating experience. I ordered and paid but had to wait for my food. I told the employee my name and I sat there to wait past the time it suggested for my Togo food.. while starving, and instead of paying attention to orders, several crew members were eating and hanging out. Meanwhile, my food was sitting ready for about 15 minutes getting cold, and no one bothered to call it out or bring it to me. It was honestly annoying to watch staff take care of themselves while completely ignoring guests. By the time I finally got my food, it wasn't even fresh anymore--just cold and disappointing. There are so many smokers in front of the entrance, and it discouraged me to visit this location again. There are many customers who take a small cup for water and drinking soda. I felt so stupid for paying $3+. There is no clear line for people who are ordering and for those who are waiting to pick their online order up.
