The katsu chicken tasted like it was defrosted, frozen, then cooked again. The meat was dry and the breading was not the right consistency. The breaded chicken tasted like it had been cooked beforehand, not fresh. The macaroni in the macaroni salad was undercooked. I waited for the other customers to leave to be more discreet with my complaint. The elegant cashier lady with a charming nose ring, that looked it was borrowed from a boar deep in West Africa, was rude and escalated the complaint unnecessarily. I was honestly trying to help and let the cook know there was something wrong with the quality of the food today. As she decided to retreat into the back room, I wanted to apologize to the cook for the exchange. The cook was gracious and nonconfrontational, the conversation was coming to an end. Until, she decided to come out like a bat out of hell to start back up again. The whole exchange was entirely unnecessary and upsetting. The food is not worth it. The service is horrible. I wouldn't want my kids around this environment or around people like this. Talk to your staff please and teach them not to escalate complaints especially when they are spoken to in a respectful manner or possibly learn how to just say " I apologize for the quality of food today, I will let them know." I am actually probably rounding up with a 3 star review here. In these times I try not to be too negative. Unfortunately though I feel that the food here is very mediocre for the price. The service is not great fast-food type of service, and most of all the inside seems really pretty gross. I guess at least the tables were wiped down,, but the ambiance kind of felt like I was eating in a janitor's closet. To be honest, the store itself may have influenced what I thought of the food. I wanted to eat so quickly to get out of there that I didn't enjoy my meal. Located off Redondo Beach Bl in Lawndale parking is tight literally the spaces out front and very tight for two cars to pass through. There is also parking in the back too. This place right now is take out only no dine in. I got the seafood BBQ combo plate with Mahi Mahi , shrimp and Teri beef. Also ordered an extra Mahi Mahi cause they only have two and they are small like a chicken nugget. In this combo it's two Mahi Mahi, 3 shrimps and a scoop full of beef Teri w/ two scoops of rice and a scoop of Mac salad. It was good but I was expecting a bigger piece of Mahi Mahi and more shrimp. I've been coming here for years. I've done take out and ordered trays for parties. The people are always nice. And the guys who make the food have been cooking here for years!!! Food is flavorful and always consistent. Is 4 stars high for a take out place? Maybe..but i have to give them high stars for all the years they've been in business and for their consistency. Those count for something these days. Small shops like these are local go-tos for neighborhoods. I'm happy to support and give them a boost to help. read more

The woman at the front (I need to ask her name), always remembers our order and when we walk in we are greeted with the most friendly welcome and "the usual?!" Gave the place 3 chances. First visit I tried the the bbq / teriyaki chicken bowl. It consisted of chicken, rice, and fresh vegerables. It wasn't great. It was rubbery. I've tasted better elsewhere. It did not have macaroni salad. Second visit I tried the chicken katsu bowl. It consisted of chicken cutlet and rice, with dipping sauce. It was okay, palatable. The dipping sauce wasn't great. It did not have macaroni salad. I've had better elsewhere. Third visit I tried the Lau Lau plate. It consisted of lau lau, rice, and macaroni salad. As I drove home it smelled terrible. I was hoping it tasted better than it smelled. It didn't taste as bad as it smelled, but it was not great either. It was the first time I had to use Sriracha to eat a Lau Lau. It was not great. I've definitely tasted better elsewhere. Rule 1: Teriyaki chicken is basic. It better be good. Rule 2: Chicken katsu is basic. The chicken katsu and dipping sauce better be good. Rule 3: Probably the most important rule. All dishes should include macaroni or potato salad. After giving this place three chances I came to the conclusion that there are other places that serve up "Hawaiian BBQ" much better. Take it easy. Aloha. read more

Not busy at all; red flag warning. $15.00 for the recommended combo- all bbq meats. Both of the beef were loaded up with teriyaki sauce. Short ribs were all gristle and inedible. The other chopped beef was only slightly better. The all thigh meat chicken is 1 1/2 stars max. 2 steamed rice and 1 macaroni salad added another 1/2 star. Clean , well lit and airy ambiance.
