We were on a road trip and found this Burger spot on the way... it totally hit the spot! Very friendly staff and fast service. On the pricier side but definitely quality ingredients. $45 bucks for 2 burgers, fries and one drink. You could stop by Vons and make this better for $8. Garlicky fries were just regular fries with a few strands of Parmesan sprinkled on. Burgers were low quality in almost every way imaginable. Thin meat patty, bland bun, tiny bits of cheese, flavorless sauce, and a whole chunk of lettuce from the part you usually throw away if you were at home. Carl's Jr or Wendy's would have been half the price for twice the quality. Really shocked this place maintains a 4.3 rating. You walk in the door order your food from a chalkboard and grab your drink from a fridge, pay and sit at a bare table with the exception of a lonely fresh flower. Came for lunch after visiting the Luffa farm and I'm so glad we did! This is a small place tucked into a little strip mall in Nipomo, open for lunch and early dinner. They have salads, a variety of sandwiches and are primarily known for their burgers. I got the plain cheeseburger, and my friends got the mushroom burger and the teriyaki burger. The burgers came out quickly, perfectly cooked and delicious! The fries were crispy and yummy. This is definitely a good place to go when you're in Nipomo. read more

Driving around and suddenly I realized that I NEEDED a burger and fries from California Grill. A visceral, nay, primal desire. I'm a 9th generation American so it's in my DNA at this point. My only beef (I'm sorry I said that...) is that when they asked if I wanted Cali Sauce, I said I wanted it on the side. So they gave me a burger with Cali Sauce AND some on the side. A local spot with a very large selection of sandwiches. We went simple with the cheeseburger, tri tip BBQ sandwich and an order of fries. It was all really tasty and the portions huge! I had the veggie burger with lettuce wraps as they didn't have a gluten free bun . The food came quickly and was good! They offered sweet potato fries, which were excellent. OK. Again, service is very good. Burger was awful. The burger itself was about a quarter of an inch thick, and seems like it has been around for a few days. Took my grandmother to California Grill while visiting her in Nipomo and had a great experience. Ordered and served within 10 minutes, staff was friendly, and food was delicious. Lots of choices for burgers, sandwiches and salads. It is all a bit pricy, but the food is made fresh. I had the Teri burger which is pineapple, grilled onions, teriyaki sauce, and fixin's. Was good and tasty. A little weak on the pineapple and teriyaki sauce - definitely more onion and lettuce flavor. Very disappointed, for a few reasons. First, you cannot find current prices on their "website", their Facebook page, and no updated menu photos on Yelp. I called and ordered a Cali Burger for myself and the Grilled chicken sandwich for my wife. I specifically requested her sandwich be "dry"; no BBQ sauce or anything else. Also requested no onions. I also said fries and assumed they came with the burger/sandwich. When I picked up, the total was almost $29, I tipped $4 (another issue) and went home. When we opened the bag, there were no fries. I called and the girl said, no, fries don't come with the sandwich or burger... $29 for a burger and a sandwich. I told her we were disappointed and that they should reconsider including fries. Next, my wife opens her sandwich and, guess what? Mayonnaise and onions... My burger was fine but nothing special. A few suggestions; obviously, include fries with burgers and sandwiches if they're premium priced. If they're not included, staff should inform customers and ask if they'd like to add fries. Third, update your menu, so that prices are current and it's clear what is and isn't included. Finally, get the order right if you're charging premium prices. PS: even including a tip line for to-go orders is wrong. If I'm impressed with the phone and pickup experience, I'll add a few bucks to a tip jar. My husband and stopped here for lunch. We ordered a pastrami sandwich it was good but had very little meat. Usually pastrami sandwich's are so large we always split. This one was so skimpy on the meat. My husband said I hardly got any meat I opened mine and said same for me. I moved all my meat to one side of the roll to make it feel like I had meat. The price for the sandwich was $10.75. You order at the counter the gal that took our order was very nice. You seat yourself and there are TV's .They have fountain drinks and beer. We enjoy the California Grill in Nipomo. We've tried some of the burgers, fish and chips, BLT and chicken strips. All were good. Be aware that fries are separate for all meals. Prices aren't cheap but are average for independent restaurants these days. It is a very small restaurant so finding a seat with a larger party might be a challenge. read more

Stopped in late one evening on a road trip, after a long days drive and looking for some decent food, After reading a couple yelp reviews this place looked good and it did not disappoint. Note: GPS locator has the place on the wrong side of the street. Drove right past the place first time. They have a decent sized board menu as you walk in the door, with the service counter to your right. Walk up counter service was quick, courteous and helpful in making selections. Wraps, Burgers and plates are the norm - fountain drinks and cold bottle beer. We ordered, got our drinks and grabbed a table, the place was pretty busy the night we ate there, but this did not slow the service. Our food was delivered to our table by one of the staff within about 15 minutes +/- from the time our order was placed. The food was hot, and tasty. My chipotle chicken wrap was very good, my son had a burger - he said it was very good and by the fact that it disappeared off his plate in about 4 minutes - I have to assume it was. The basket of fries was more than enough for a couple people to share. All in all not a bad place to grab some decent food, the service was timely and courteous. Food fresh, hot and as ordered.
