Very Kitschy place. No frills. Family run. We try to support local as much as possible. Service- 4/5 Wait time- 2/5 We came for breakfast (around 10:00 a.m. on a Sunday)- Indoor seating is minimal, and was full. We sat outside. Do not dine here if you have a time crunch. :0) Food-3/5 1- ordered the special- tri-tip scramble with Monterey Jack cheese. It arrived with a lot of mushrooms and not much tri tip. 2- 3 slice French toast with maple syrup. Very good. 3- eggs Benedict with country ham. Ham was very thick. We thought too thick to be sitting atop an English muffin for eggs Benedict (personal preference). 4- Hashbrowns with cheese one egg and one slice of bacon with a side of sourdough toast (way too much butter on the toast- almost dripping with butter)- again personal preference. Pricing- 2/5 This establishment is not fancy, the food is priced at what a higher end establishment might charge. The pricing is about 7 dollars more than other breakfast/lunch places charge of this caliber. Our bill was $95.10 before a 15% tip (one can click 'other' for tip amount on their portable machine). Overall experience was a one and done. We will support other less expensive local breakfast establishments.

Small unique family ran restaurant. Friendly engaging staff. Fun for the kiddos. Food wasn't premade, fresh. The portions were hardy and delicious. Will come again.

Finally went back after several years. Still just okay. I actually went to the Mayor's Place because I was craving country-fried pork and eggs like I used to get in my home town but it turns out they've updated their menu and only do country-fried steak. So that's what I ordered. The steak and country gravy were just really lacking in flavor. Usually it's made w/ bacon or sausage drippings but I didn't taste either of those flavors. I actually had to add salt to give it flavor, even tho there were chunks of what I assume is sausage. I'm kind of okay with that since they seem to appeal to an older crowd and most of us cotton-tops are on low-salt diets. The eggs and hash browns were perfect! One of the reasons we've been skipping the Mayor's Place is that we've had the same experience as other people of waiting WAY too long for our food to arrive. This time wasn't like that. I was in and out in less than 20 minutes. They've really jacked the prices up. Inflation has been an excuse a lot of restaurants are using to charge more and I just don't buy it. That $20 breakfast plate wasn't worth $20. And their credit card devise has 20% tip as it's minimum, which is a terrible trend that needs to stop. I might go back some time and try a sandwich. Maybe not.

The facade on the front of the building is cute. This is a diner. We sat on the back patio. I got the chicken sandwich which was good but not great. There was a you girl helping our waitress which asked how we were doing after we ordered. My friend got the biscuits and gravy which she liked. We waited 45 minutes for our food which means that they do not prep anything. I think if I went back I would order something from the breakfast menu which is what they are known for.

I came to visit my grandma for her 71st birthday, and brought her to this cafe to have breakfast before I headed out on my journey home. We arrived a few minutes past 10 am, and waited about 10 minutes for a table out on the patio. Our waiter quickly greeted us and took our orders. After about an hour of waiting for our food, and a couple of cups of coffee later, I finally asked our server for an update on our food. We were told that it would be an additional 20 minutes (mind you we had been waiting for over an hour at this point). Grandma and I decided we would wait an extra 20 minutes. 25 minutes later (1.5 hours in total) we were told it would be an ADDITIONAL 25-30 minutes. At this point, we decided we would leave and our waiter said we didn't have to pay for the coffee (which seemed fair given we waited such a long time). The time was 11:55 am. On our way out to our car, a staff member (perhaps the owner) came out to look at our faces and said, "I'll remember their faces" as if we had done something wrong. This is to whomever said that to my poor grandma and I: you don't have to remember our faces, because we will NEVER come back to your establishment. One star for the view.

We made a takeout order on our phone and it took 15 minutes for the food to be ready. We ordered a 3-piece fish and chips meal and a 1/2 pint of clam chowder. The meal came with a coleslaw and I asked for tartar sauce. I didn't like the coleslaw because the sauce tasted a little sour. The fries were a little bland and not crispy either. The fish itself was good. I do wish the coating it was fried in was more seasoned because when I bit into it, it was cooked well but not a lot of flavor. The clam chowder was good. It was creamy and the vegetables were cooked well. They were tender but not too soft or mushy. We both liked the hush puppies because they were crisp on the outside but soft and moist on the inside. They had a perfect balance of saltiness and sweetness. The tartar sauce was good. I tasted dill and I enjoyed it a lot; it was a good dip with the fries.

It was the tiniest little container for three dollars. When I say tiny, I mean the size that they put to go condiments in. There was no cucumbers and zero wasabi flavor. I even went to the counter to ask her if they had given me the right thing and she confirmed yes. The three shrimp "snack "was $16.95 and read it was three jumbo butterfly fried shrimp. These were not jumbo. They were medium at best... I dare say on the small side. And for sure look like they came out of a Costco bag of frozen fried shrimp. I don't even remember what I ordered. I think I had the clam strips and everything just tasted like it came frozen from the store. I also ordered a small clam chowder, which was similar story to the coleslaw. The smallest container. Think child size ice cream cup. The menu says it's homemade clam chowder.... It was very underwhelming. The atmosphere is very cute in this place, the beers on top seem like they might be appealing if you drink. Lol... the food is nothing to speak about and extremely overpriced. Even the french fries taste like they are out of a bag. I hate writing bad reviews. But if I can save someone going in for a quick bite, spending well over $50 for just that and receiving what is seemingly frozen food you can easily make it home. For a fraction of the cost that is.

First time here after a 3.5 hr drive to SLO. Service - 3.5 stars. So I gave this mainly because my wife (not me) seemed to not vibe with our waitress. In fact, I can tell my wife felt our waitress was being rude when she was asking questions about the menu. There was definitely tension with my wife in that she had to talk about the rudeness of our waitress. As for myself, I didn't take the waitress nodding to my wife's question as being rude but whatever. Thing my wife did notice after we gave our order was that our waitress didn't bring the complimentary bread and butter and we had clearly seen two tables in front of us get that. In fact, my wife had to go to the front desk to ask if free bread was given. For that, 3.5 stars So I had the lunch special - Wild Pacific rockfish with cilantro lime rice and pineapple cole saw. The rice- 3 stars. Nothing special , hard to differentiate it with regular rice since flavor was subtle and I couldn't taste any lime to it. Pineapple Cole slaw side- 5 stars. Very light and refreshing . Had a bit of Dijon taste to it with small pineapple pieces. Both me and my wife enjoyed it (when I had her try it) The rockfish -3 stars felt like it was a bit dry. Had to ask for tartar sauce just to give some zing as well as salt and pepper My wife had the salmon, side of clam chowder and cilantro rice. I tried the salmon and was pretty good taste and seemed more fresh than store bought. Overall, it was a decent experience for a seafood place but not a wow factor. Would I come back again? I think it was good to try it out but there are too many other seafood places to try in the SLO/ Pismo beach area

The entire basket didn't taste much like anything and the tartar didn't help. The clam chowder was very salty. And I mean, very. It barely had clams in it and didn't taste rich and mostly had big cubes of potato. It was disappointing. The lines can get very long very fast. They have a good spot with greats views or Morro Rock.
