What's up: Dinner with the family. This time we decided to grab some pizza and pasta at the Shops at Santa Anita. Parking: Mall parking is plentiful and depending when you go, it can get busy. We went around 6 pm and we were able to easily find a spot in their underground parking lot. Environment: Located inside the mall, it's on the first floors and not too far from Macy's. We told the staff that we brought our doggo and they seated us in the area that was closer to the mall side. We were even given a coloring set for the kiddo. Staff members were attentive and came by often to check up on us. What was ordered: - Avocado Club Egg Rolls (crispy) - BBQ Chicken Chopped Salad (good) - Wild Mushroom Pizza (tasty mushrooms) - The Works Pizza (yummy classic toppings) - Chicken Piccata (flavorful) - Cedar Plank Salmon (good, salmon was nice and moist) Yay/Nay/Meh: Yay. Chain restaurants are hard to rate because we have expectations. If we are real though, chain restaurants aren't always satisfying anymore. Where the expectation is convenience, rather than excellence. Which is kind of sad. Especially today. This review is probably more about the experience than the food. We came and were seated by the kitchen. Right off the bat, the guy who was at the pass of the kitchen was chewing out a waiter saying things like "well you can tell them we don't do that! Why would you even tell them we would be able to accommodate that." Later, they served us our meal and the same guy asked if everything was ok? As my boyfriend was going to ask for more ranch, he walked away... why would you ask if everything was ok if you don't care and are just going to walk away? My fettuccine Alfredo came, it was SUPER watery. I wasn't going to say anything but my boyfriend spoke up because he heard our server even make an uneasy noise looking at us scoop the liquidy cream sauce. She said yeah it's not supposed to be like that. As she took it to this same guy (that has been causing a hostile environment for the rest of the staff) and kitchen, said "what do you mean?? That's how it's supposed to look! It's perfectly fine." Continued basically gaslighting saying there's not much more they can do. It was hostile enough that we didn't want to speak up on the other numerous issues we had. First, my mom had ordered the new spinach artichoke lasagna, corrected them as they almost ordered the short rib lasagna, then served us the short rib lasagna anyways.. like a true fatty fam, my mom ate it anyways. I didn't really like the pressure that they forced asking if the pasta was right, when they told us "there's not much they can do." Honestly with how much we paid, I would've rather gone to a hole in the wall Italian joint in Duarte or Pasadena. Sorry, probably not going to come back. A shame because I do love CPK. read more

Great location! This location is very convenient for us. We usually come and put our name down, then walk around until we get a text letting us know the table is ready. Service is a hit or miss. It really depends who you get and how busy they are. Carol is one of the servers that stand out, but I don't know if she still works here. Carol was one of the best servers for this . There always seen to be flies and/or gnats flying in the dining area. This is a huge turn off for a restaurant. I guess I only come back here for the convenience of the location. The food is good. It really depends what you get, and I usually stick to my usuals... Some of my all-time favorites are: chicken tequila fettuccine, Kung Pao spaghetti, Thai chicken Pizza, wild mushroom pizza and of course the barbecue chicken pizza. The complimentary bread that is served with olive oil is quite good. I always ask for balsamic vinegar to go along with it and it adds so much more flavor. My recently tried the Thai crunch salad and the carne asada pizza. They were both pretty good. To wrap it up, it's a very convenient place to eat and the food is good overall. However, the flies and gnats that fly around kind of ruin the dining experience. Just a bit sad that they were out of their new item, the burnt ends pizza; that looked interesting. I got a bbq chicken pizza and thai salad instead. The pizzas and complimentary bread are nice with soft crusts and the thai salad crunch was refreshing. The restaurant is clean, spacious, and comfortable. The service was great. Came on a Tuesday / Wednesday night. Crystal took care of us, she did a great job. She was friendly, helpful, and explained some of the drinks. We ordered a Sicilian pizza and a works with cauliflower crust, with no olives. Food came out correctly and tasted good. It had been quite some time since my last visit to this location, and I noticed a more open seating arrangement. We were pleasantly surprised that there wasn't a significant wait for dinner. However, we were a bit disappointed to find that the shrimp scampi pizza was no longer available on the menu. We were asked if we would care for some bread. In the past, bread was typically provided complimentary without needing to be requested. Naturally, we accepted the offer. The Spinach Artichoke Dip was not as thick as we've experienced at other restaurants; it was a bit more fluid. It arrived before the bread. We were pleased when the bread did arrive, as it was softer than we recalled. We ordered three different pizzas. One of the pizzas included cilantro, which was not indicated on the menu. We ended up removing all the cilantro from that particular pizza. We also requested additional BBQ sauce for the original BBQ chicken pizza. While the toppings on the Sicilian pizza were delightful, we found the crust to be somewhat soggy. The cornicione, however, was quite good. We appreciated the freshly grated Parmesan cheese. Having a lunch meeting with my friend and we stopped here for the second time. This place is always neat and clean. It was on a weekday so there were no much wait. The waiter greeted us with a smile and seated us quickly. We saw the new item-- steak salad and Thai shrimp as the appetizer and decided to give them a try like we always do!! Came on a weekday, clean, spacious restaurant with plenty of seats, attentive, friendly service, affordable lunch special, delicious gluten free pizza & salad. Their lunch specials are Mon-Fri from 11a-4p, pizza duo & sandwich duo were only $13.99 and pasta duo $12.99. All duos came with a cup of soup or lunch size salad. The manager personally came out to serve me my pizza & reassured me it was baked in a separate oven so there's no cross contamination. You can choose to either sit on the inside part of the restaurant, outdoors, or by the walkway of the mall (which can appear awkward sometimes with strangers staring at you). Avocado Club Eggrolls: 10/10 AMAZING. No notes on this dish. It's savory and comes with ranch and thousand island dipping sauce. Macaroni & Cheese: 5/10. I FEEL SCAMMED. People on Tik Tok kept hyping up this dish and talking about how they changed the recipe and how good it was. I was once again a victim of these Tik Tok lies! One of the great places to eat at when visiting the The Shops Santa Anita. Never had a long wait. You can call in before hand so you don't have a long wait. Everyone loves the pizza here. The mushroom pepperoni sausage is one of my family's go tos. If you're not feeling pizza there are other plates to choose from. There are different pasta and salad creations to choose from the menu. Salads I recommend the Cobb salad or the Thai crunch. Pasta I would go with Jambalaya linguini fini. It has great flavor with shrimp, chicken, andouille sausage, and ham. We received a gift card from the holidays and finally got around to using it. Got to say, the food and service has been the best I've seen in years! Our waitress was Lauren and she was so amazingly lovely and attentive. She made great suggestions and always checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. From the start, the free bread was perfectly toasted and great with the herb olive oil (ask for balsamic on the side) She suggested the spinach dip and it was a great starter, surprisingly large portion! The Sicilian pizza was exceptional. The pizza came out pipping hot, the dough had the most toasty char while the inside was light and fluffy. We went to CPK today because we we're starving. Really quickly I will say I grew up going to this CPK and the service was always so bad, which is why I hate going. Today they took such a LONG time to bring out our food. Not only is service long but the waitress there took our order wrong, no problem. The waitress puts in a new order for us after getting it wrong... Tell me why it takes 15 MINUTES to bring out an italian salad... I'm lost. Went to CPK finally since it has been years! My husband has never been and thought it would be great date day along with walking around the mall. Unfortunately they didn't any of the cravings I was having anymore. The wardolf salad l...gone! The Gorgonzola pear pizza...gone! I was bummed! So I tried the Thai crunch chicken salad. It was great. Good crunch, great flavor. Could have used some extra dressing, but overall great. Husband order the pepporini pizza with ham and sausage. Also another great choice. For the appetizer we had the Mexican corn and that was probably my favorite of all the meal. Another favorite was fountain Fresca! One of my favorites. Ok so this is based on the fact that they forgot my son in laws food. We all ordered, they took all of our orders accurately. The waitress repeated our order exactly how it was given to her. And everyone except my son in law got his food. We waited, 5...10mins at the 15 minute mark we asked a passing server about the pizza and she went to the cook and he shook his head saying no, no pizza was ordered. So we had to wait a total of 25 minutes for his pizza. We had all finished eating and he finally got his food. What a shame that they made us wait this long. And no communication from the server, not even to tell us hey we are backed up. Nothing. They completely forgot to put his order in. So we are waiting for my son in law to finish eating his food so that we can leave. I drove out here today to have lunch with some work friends and celebrate a client's retirement. I had to park a bit further away as it was surprisingly crowded at the mall today. This restaurant is located inside the mall and signage was a bit of an issue. Luckily, there was a map near the entrance and I was able to determine where to go. Our party was seated promptly and we were given a nice corner table. Our waitress was great and very attentive. She took our drink orders and I opted for their sparkling watermelon cooler mocktail. It was fun and refreshing, not too sweet. I hadn't been to a CPK in many years--there are a lot of options on the menu! I had trouble deciding between their new California Fields Salad or their lunch duo. Our waitress said the salad is really good and very popular right now, so that was enough for me to opt for that. I was not disappointed in my decision! Everything on the salad was so fresh and flavorful. The feta and pistachios were a nice touch! I opted to add grilled chicken as well. They have renovated a few years ago and it looks updated and looks very different from how it did before in the past. Overall, the food is still the same in the best way possible. I am a huge fan of their house bread and the olive oil here. Some of their most famous dishes are the barbecue chicken pizza or the Thai Chicken pizza. The Kung Pao spaghetti and also the Fettuccine Alfredo are some of the popular dishes here as well. It's always a great time for food here. Usually there's a good amount of seating available since they expanded out and the promenade section of the mall is right by these doors. Make sure to sign up for their rewards to keep track of points and other promotions that they run. My family and I enjoyed a wonderful early Mother's Day dinner here tonight. There is such an amazing menu that it was hard to decide what to get! We started off with the Baja chicken tortilla rolls and artichoke dip, both were amazing! The bread and olive oil is so good too, I can't stop thinking about it. My whole family was happy with these choices. When it came to ordering we really had to think it out as everything looked so good. We decided on the Sicilian pizza, two bbq chicken pizza, a special request pepperoni and bell pepper pizza, the rosemary potato chicken pizza, the salmon Caesar salad, a regular Caesar salad and the Thai crunch salad. The portions are so great that we will be enjoying this again tomorrow for lunch! We were assisted by the lovely server (who's name I unfortunately can't remember) but he had a great attitude and was oh so helpful, the night manager (who is so kind and exudes a great vibe) and Fernando the busser (who smilies through all his work and remembered seeing me and my boyfriend last week!
