Yeah... CPK is just ok - nothing more, nothing less. This Encino location shares a parking garage with other businesses, but this plaza honestly seems like it's days are numbered as the majority of other businesses are closed (on the bright side, you don't have to worry about finding a parking spot!). They also validate for parking so that's always a plus. There's a patio for outdoor seating, but if you want better service ask to be seated inside. We've been here a few times when the random urge for CPK arises. For appetizers, the Avocado Club Egg Rolls is our go-to. For pizza, we usually go for the pepperoni or the Hawaiian. The food is decent but overpriced for what it is. CPK just isn't the same as it used to be back in its heyday. read more

Got take out the other night and it was ok. Quality is still consistent through the years. Pizza doesn't tend to stay warm during travel, so you have to reheat when you get home. Had a cacio e Pepe pizza to split. Thai crunch salad is the best on the menu. Was excited that there were new menu items to select from and ordered the ham banh mi, because i had never seen that before. Bread was pretty good. I swung by one day and parked on the street. I like coming to this village and wanted to end Winter Break with a bang. I enjoyed the bread and wanted a complete pizza, which is why I chose the Works. This masterpiece contained rustic pepperoni, red onions, olives, wild Greek oregano, green peppers, Mozzarella, Cremini mushrooms, and Spicy Italian sausage. Our waiter went above and beyond for us and was so polite and professional and gracious I didn't catch his name but he worked today Wednesday April 8, the afternoon shift and he was literally the perfect waiter. Maybe because I've been coming to CPK on and off for over 25 years and I haven't been in ages but we ordered the fettuccine Alfredo and a Caesar salad and they were both just okay kind of reminded me of something you'd get at the grocery store pleasant enough but you expect more flavor and panache from a restaurant that is historically known for its bold flavors. This place must be near death. Arrive on Saturday at 7:45 PM. Ask for a table for 4. 15-20 minute wait, I am told. Not because the place is full...it's half empty. The reason. They have one waiter. So I ask if I can order a beer while we wait. I'm told no. What!? Yeah...no bartender either. WTF? How does a restaurant stay in business if you literally refuse to pour a beer for a thirsty customer. I don't think I've ever been so disappointed in a restaurant. And I'm a loyal CPK customer. Been coming here for years. My kids love it. But the private equity purchase is a disaster. Probably the last time I'll ever take the family to CPK...sad. Just no longer viable. read more

Meeting friends for dinner and conversation. Saturday night at 6 PM - but no problem getting a table with no reservation. Parking in the garage is free with validation - nice touch. We started with white corn guac and chips ($9) as a shared appetizer. Probably the best guac I have had in any restaurant including some high end Mexican restaurants. Only gripe is there are pieces of jalapeño that can make it a bit hot for the Gringo palate. Next we shared the Margarita pizza ($17). Usually I am not a fan of thin crust pizza but this was quite good. For my entree I ordered a half BBQ chopped chicken salad ($15). Even the half salad is huge and too big for me to finish. Really good. We had a table next to the picture window overlooking Ventura Blvd. Lovely. Good food, good service, lovely ambiance and free parking. Not fancy but great value. read more

Came on a Sunday. The biggest negative were all the kids. There were about six different tables of families with 5 year old children. Come on parents, don't let your kids scream and run around. The people I came with said its always like that on the weekends. They said its better to come during the week. Other than that, everything was good. Atmosphere was great with the big windows. Walked in on a Saturday night around 8:30. Waited to be seated and was told we could pick wherever we wanted to sit. Great! But then things to a quick turn. First we weren't able to order half of the appetizers since one of the kitchen appliances was not working. Ok, spinach and artichoke dip it is! It was good, but not the norm for CPK. My husband ordered the club pizza and I had the Burnt ends pizza. The pizza's were very good. Would definitely order again. We had some nice bread with oil and that was delicious. We decided on dessert. We had the butter cake flight. First the spoons they brought us out were completely filthy, still had food from the previous meal stuck onto it. They apologized for the issue and got us clean ones. But the butter cake was cold!!!! I should probably say that butter cake is one of my favorite. Therefore, I do expect it to be served as it should be.... warmed. This was not even lukewarm, it was just cold like they just took it out of a package and popped it on my plate. The restaurant itself appeared very rundown. When we walked in and we were told to sit wherever we liked, there was a few tables that were completely still a mess and unclean. The floors were dirty, so I guess I shouldn't have been surprise that my spoon was dirty too. Overall not a great experience. read more

From the minute we walked in we were treated like a nuisance. We asked if we can be seated outside and the waiter sighed, rolled his eyes and looked annoyed. We should have left at this point but thought maybe he was having a bad moment. The restaurants are clean and well managed. Sadly, CPK is short staffed like many other restaurants. How would I rate a place that I called ahead and asked if there was a wait and told there wasn't... only to walk in and have Grizelle tell me there is a 20 - 25 minute wait? I'd give it a zero. But here I am forced to give it 1. The Tarzana store was busy. There was a wait and when I arrived with my daughter they told me 20-25 minutes so I called the Encino location and the man on the phone said no wait at all. I said great will be there in 10. But when I arrived Grizelle met me with "I need to tell you it will be a 20-25 minute wait because we have a new system and we are way behind." Did they get "way behind" in 10 minutes? I explained that I was told there was no wait to which she said I don't know why they told you that but it's a long wait and we don't know the new system and she walked away. I left. And I won't be back. I'm pretty sure this location is wanting for business because on the few times we have been here, it's always empty and the service isn't ever great. This place, like others that have left customer service at the curb, will (my prediction) end up closing. And that's why we go to Tarzana if the kids want CPK. It's clean and the people are friendlier. We went to Encino tonight (which is closer to our home!) because it was convenient, my daughter was hungry and they said there wasn't a wait. We eat out a few times each week and when I go inside a place they usually aren't rude upon arrival. I would post pictures but no food tonight. We ended up across the way at Larsen's. With people coming from all directions, this CPK has become a fairly regular meeting place for me and my family. Today we were there to celebrate my mom's birthday. One of the things I love about CPK is the consistency from location to location. Once you've had a dish at one CPK, you can count on it tasting the same at other locations. Today I placed an order for one of my go-to lunches at CPK; the lunch duo with a 7-in wild mushroom pizza and a small Thai crunch salad. As always, both were delicious. For dessert we ordered a always delicious butter cake and a piece of key lime pie. If you haven't had the better cake at CPK, your seriously missing out. One thing that made today's visit stand out was the service. My mom had received an emailed coupon for a free dessert for her birthday. CPK requires your phone number to verify that you were the coupon recipient. She gave them her phone number but they couldn't find her account. So the waiter asked the manager to help out. Armed with my mom's email address and phone number, the manager was quickly able to determine that the phone number on my mom's account didn't match the number she had given her. With that knowledge, the problem was quickly resolved, my mom got her free birthday dessert, and she won't have a problem using CPK discounts like this again. If you're in the area, stop by this CPK. I got an auto response confirmation that my feedback was received and that they would be reaching out to me shortly. That same day, I received a survey about my experience, which I submitted. That was four days ago and I am yet to receive anything from California pizza kitchen, addressing food that I paid for but I did not receive. Additionally, the muffaletta sandwich did not contain a single olive. The sandwich wasn't bad it just was not authentic. This is what supposed to be on a muffaletta sandwich: "Olive Salad: This is a crucial component, typically made with chopped green and black olives, Giardiniera mix, capers, garlic, oregano, red wine vinegar, and olive oil." I used to come to this CPK and many others for years but it had been a year or so that I had visited one and I have to tell you that I was very disappointed with the service and quality of the food. The staff was overwhelmed and understaffed. The kitchen was backed up and the delay for food was way too long. The interior is well overdue for a refresh as it had worn out banquets and it was dirty around all the window and the banquet seats. I ordered the BANH MI POWER BOWL and the dressing was awful. Bitter and acidic at the same time. Oily and overall had bad flavors. I had to ask for lemon to eat with the dry veggies. The famous BBQ chicken was over cooked on one side and not even and was cold by the time it got to our table. Overall, I don't think I will be going back any time soon. This could be the worst CPK I have ever been to. The food was atrocious. What we went with: buffalo cauliflower was disgusting. Over fried burnt and hard to chew. Shrimp n chicken Lettuce wraps had no taste and was overcooked. Entrees for the kids were the curly Mac n cheese which barely had any cheese and the fussily pasta with Alfredo sauce that basically was just plain pasta. Alfredo sauce was absent. I had the bbq chicken salad which was a bit soggy and just no flavor. Beans in the salad felt as though they were undercooked. Cedar plank salmon was fucking gross. As the server placed my dish in front of me you could smell the fishy smell of the salmon. Good fish should not have the fishy smell. The cedar plank it came on was straight up burnt black. The salmon was so overcooked it was dry. Could barely eat half of it. The spinach corn slaw side it comes with was also DIIIIISSSSGGGGUSTING. Studio city CPK is the only one I will go to moving forward. I honestly don't know how people come to this CPK establishment. This CPK location should be closed down. This is my go to CPK location. Great food, service and a great view from the outside balcony seating area. I just discovered they have Ribeyes here and it was a game changer! Medium rare is how I like my steaks and it's tough to get perfect but these guys nailed it! My fiance got pizza and pasta and she loved it as well. And we always finish the meal with the famous butter cake of course! A perfect ending ! Highly recommend! A must go if you live near the Encino area.
