We got a quick lunch a couple of days ago and I've got to try their Chinese chicken salad, it's their version with a crispy chicken, and has peaches, it was pretty good. It's always so packed, which is great for them, but it gets loud very quickly. Not really suitable for working or having a chat. I'd say it's more of a bite and go kind of place. The modern, fast-casual spot features a wide array of baked goods (all looking fantastic) and a menu of all-day breakfast dishes, sandwiches, burgers, quiches, and a range of other options. You order at the counter with a friendly host, then wait at your table for a runner to bring your food, which arrives pretty quickly. The crowd is a mix of young parents with kids, Hollywood types having script meetings, and all sorts of friends having a meal and catching up. It's lively and a bit loud, but you can also sit outside if that suits you more. My wife and I both ordered breakfast for lunch, with her opting for a pancake. Large, malty and nicely cooked, this was a good-looking and filling flapjack that could be improved with the addition of fresh butter and warm syrup (rather than the pre-prepped plastic ramekin of room temp syrup). I ordered the Hashtag: a skillet of Hash Browns topped with Bacon, Cheddar, Jalapeños and a pair of Over-Medium Eggs. The potatoes were nicely crisped in the skillet, with the bacon adding a smoky depth that paired well with the richness of the cheddar and the spice of the jalapeño. The very-properly-prepared eggs had yolks just gooey enough to become a sauce for the layered hash below, and making for a very appealing savory/spicy bite. I also appreciated the size of the portion, which was moderate rather than over-abundant; that keeps the price reasonable and allows the components of the dish to work together without anything becoming overwhelming. Easily one of the best brunch options in the valley. I actually drove up from West LA specifically for this brunch and was very happy that I did so. Parking in this area is very easy compared to Los Angeles and our server was very polite. It's not a full Service restaurant you order at the counter, they give you a number, and then bring your food. There is not full waiter service. The menu is really large and filled with all sorts of great options and they have a ton of bakery items as well. It's really easy to find gluten-free and regular treats. Inside is also very large with many different table options and they seem to have very quick service because all the tables were returning pretty quickly. For this meal, I chose the soft omelette and thought it was fantastic. It was made just as I liked it and every part about it was great. We also ordered some of the churro pancakes and they were a real great sweet treat. They also have delicious drinks and honestly everything that we ordered was wonderful. Right smack at the entrance, you're greeted by tons of gorgeous baked goodies on display. Their menu has a bit of everything: salads, wraps, burgers, omelettes, French toast, fresh juices, coffee, lattes, and even mimosas and margaritas if you're in the mood for a boozy drink. I ordered the Greek salad with an iced latte, and it was so good~ The salad was super flavorful and fresh--the vinaigrette and feta cheese really hit the spot, and it was loaded with heirloom tomatoes (my favorite). My friend got the chicken wrap with an iced latte, which came with fresh berries & she got ranch dressing on the side~ All of the employees were super friendly. My only critique was that our hostess never checked in on us while we were eating, which surprised me a little bit :/ However, they seemed pretty overwhelmed by the Saturday rush, so it's understandable. Another wonderful brunch at Claudine's. This most recent visit, there were a few hiccups with our order, but the service was outstanding! I love their drip coffee and that there are free refills. Yay! They have some outlets available if you bring your laptop. I usually come on weekdays because the weekends get super busy! They have indoor and outdoor seating, but I like to be inside and watch the folks in the kitchen do their thing. We started with a blueberry scone and it had great flavor. It did taste a little on the dry side, so depending on how you like your scones can be a good or bad thing. Goes perfectly with the coffee! For my main I got the avocado chicken BLT wrap and it was delicious! I chose to get hash browns on the side, which were tasty but I wish they had a little more crisp on them. My mom ordered a scramble and what came out was an omelette that has been cut up into pieces. It was packed the day I went but thankfully the line went quick and people were coming and going. The baked goods were top notch and their pineapple drink was exquisite. I tried the brisket hash and z's fried chicken sandwich. Both were really good some issues were that the brisket, some of the pieces were a little over salted and the size could be slightly small. Now the crispy sandwich was rather different in the sense that it didn't feel like a crispy chicken sandwich. It tasted more like a grilled chicken sandwich. Also you tasted a bit more bread than actually chicken. The place is rather cramped so you will be seating really close to other people. Aside from these hiccups, the food did taste fresh. They have a little parking garage right next to the restaurant and Claudine's validates for up to 2 hours, so no need to stress about time. As you walk in, it gives off a cool vibe with a half restaurant, half bake shop with some goodies displayed by the front counter. You look at the menu by the door and then take your order and grab a seat. The guy that took our order was great, making some awesome recommendations for us and even brought us our meal. We sat outside to enjoy the fresh air. The tables outside were clean and a few had umbrellas to protect from the sun. The food was pretty good. I liked everything but wasn't feeling the tortillas for some reason. I ordered the hashtag which is crispy hash browns topped with melted cheese, bacon, jalapenos, crema, chives, and 2 over easy organic eggs. By the time that I got to the register it was 12:30pm. The way that this place works, you stand in line, place your order, they give you a number, grab a table (inside or outside) and they will bring out the food to you. Pretty easy and simple. Caleb H. rang me up for a few dishes that my friend Ana and I ordered. We got: Omelette, ($19.95), came with hashbrowns. Added 4 ingredients: Tomatoes, Spinach, Red Bell Peppers, Cheddar/Jack Cheese and for an additional Garlic Mushrooms, paid $0.95 cents. (I can't eat my omelette w/out Mushrooms). It just doesn't taste right. Then, I ordered their Avocado Toast ($13.95), Nikki's style. They had 2 different kinds. The toast came with Prosciutto Ham, Avocado mashed with lemon, topped with a Sunny egg, Chimichurri, Allepo pepper sauce and lettuce. We also got Chicken Caprese Sandwich ($16.95) that came with Oven roasted shaved chicken breast, Basil pesto aioli, Arugula, Tomatoes, fresh Mozzarella cheese, Balsamic glaze, toasted Ciabatta bread and a side of salad. For a drink I got 12oz freshly squeezed Orange Juice, ($6.00), she stayed with water. We were greedy and I got Coffee Cake Muffin ($4.50), and another dessert Bread Pudding was treated by their general Manager by the name of Daniel. Such a sweet gesture. I think they saw my Yelp tote bag, :-)) Food came out pretty quickly and it was piping hot considering that they had a lot of customers on a Saturday afternoon. Wendy brought out our food, and all 3, Ernesto, Wendy, and Daniel checked on us couple of times. I think I pretty much covered everything. They had 2 gender neutral restrooms and they were fully stocked with all the essentials. Both the restaurant & bathrooms were very clean. My friends have been raving about Claudine's for years and I finally came by and ordered the Hashtag and a lemon cookie. The hashtag came in a skillet that kept my meal hot, the hashbrowns were fluffy and crispy, the eggs on top had orangey yolks and were cooked perfectly, and overall it was very filling. The lemon cookie was soft and flavorful. Highly recommend both! The service is pretty quick and you can order at the counter or online. Get a menu, order your food at the counter, take a number and find a seat. Pretty quick and easy but sometimes it is hard to find a seat (complimenting the fact that they get pretty busy). Inside is very loud for my taste but they also have plenty of outside tables that brings traffic ambiance to the environment (I like to see people hussle and bussle while I enjoy my meal LoL). I enjoyed my self Nashville Chicken with 2 eggs and hash browns. While my wife liked the Z fried chicken with potatoes wedges. Been there twice and enjoyed the food both time. A short drive from home and parked in the structure (they validate 2 hours). I got the Nashville hot chicken and eggs... it has gravy and hash browns in the plate as well. I destroyed this meal. Wow. The orange yolk was on point. Nice presentation as well. It was rather loud for 9am breakfast sitting but we made due. Service was decent and friendly, not the best I've felt. Seating is a bit hard to find since it's very crowded and you have to find a table on your own. I do wish there were a hostess to assist. Misleading Signs, Poor Management, and Unhelpful Service I have visited Claudine's in Encino on Ventura Boulevard many times. However, my girlfriend and I were very disappointed during our most recent visit. The tables have clear signs that read: "ORDER FROM YOUR TABLE!" with a QR code encouraging customers to "SCAN HERE TO START AN ORDER." We followed the instructions exactly. After a table became available, we sat down and tried to order from our seats using the QR code. A manager immediately came over and confrontationally told me I was not allowed to do that. When I pointed out the sign on the table, he became combative and unfriendly, insisting that we had to stand in the long line like everyone else. He came across as being on a power trip. This makes no sense. Allowing customers to order from their tables (as the signs clearly promote) would help relieve the long lines at the cash register and actually benefit the business by improving flow and customer experience. Instead, the policy creates unnecessary frustration and confusion. Even worse, the interaction felt somewhat discriminatory. This kind of treatment is unacceptable and left us feeling unwelcome in what should be a pastry and coffee shop experience. Owners and management: Please either remove the misleading table signs or honor what they say. Train your staff -- especially managers -- on basic politeness and consistency, and ensure all customers are treated fairly. The servers who bring the food are very polite and courteous, the manager not so much. Great food will keep you in business only for so long, however if the management is so hostile and dominant, people will eventually go elsewhere. The portions were a good size and I loved that when I asked for well done hash browns, they were nice and crispy. My only negatives were that the place was so busy with people in and out that the staff couldn't clean and turn over the tables fast enough. Also, my omelette was pretty greasy. I even put it on a napkin to soak up some of the oil. Not ideal for an egg white omelette. Overall a cute place with options for everyone. Had Sunday brunch a few weeks ago with 2 friends. Our meals were not great. Only 1 of the 3 were satisfied. I found a hair in my chilaquiles and told the server. She promised me the manager would refund the entree and they never did. I waited a few days and realized it was not happening. My friend got the avacado toast and asked for the greens on the side. That was an additional $3 charge. We did not ask for extra Just simply it to be on the side. When I saw the charge I was shocked and asked why. I was not given an answer except that is how they do it. The whole experience was very off putting. If we go to a nice brunch spot I expect basic courtesy from staff. They have a wide assortment of baked good everything from pumpkin coffee cake to fruit filled tarts and danishes. The coffee cake was super moist, great fall flavoring with the pumpkin and spices, and it was topped with a delicious crumble. The banana bread was equally moist and very good. I loved the raspberry tartlet you could tell it was made with fresh ingredients and the raspberry filling was really zingy.
