The service was exceptional, and the food was absolutely delicious. We had a party of 16, and they accommodated us effortlessly. The ambiance is also worth mentioning. Came here to celebrate my friend's birthday, and unfortunately, I had one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had because of our waiter, Oscar. He was extremely rude and unpleasant from start to finish, which really put a damper on what was supposed to be a special celebration. Unfortunately, the food has also gone downhill. It's such a shame because I used to really love this place and looked forward to coming here. Oscar seriously needs additional training in customer service. I hope management takes this feedback seriously because customers deserve to be treated with courtesy and respect, especially when they're coming in to celebrate a special occasion. I grew up going to a Buca super often as a kid/teenager so when I saw one in town, my boyfriend and I were curious to check it out and walk down memory lane. We popped in for happy hour. Parking lot right out front which is easy. Sure enough, the inside is exactly as I remembered it. You walk through the kitchen in order to get to your table. Fun Italian music. Black & white pictures all over the walls. It must have been an off hour or just not that busy because we were the only ones inside. It also had kind of a weird smell? It kinda smelled like old dirty menus, or what they use to clean the menus? That's the best way I can describe it. We got the POM Blossom martini (pomegranate) and the spicy shrimp, both of which were on happy hour. They don't have their calamari on their happy hour menu which is a bummer. The martini was a little sweet for me and not my favorite. The spicy shrimp was okay but not something I'd specifically return back for. They were also quite spicy! There was fried shrimp but also fried pepperoncinis on the skillet which was interesting. Their prices are a little crazy. When we were looking at their menu, the calamari is so expensive, $30! And that's supposed to be an appetizer. Certainly overpriced. I'm glad we came during happy hour and only spent happy hour prices. A little sad to see Buca not doing as well as I remembered it from childhood. I think they could definitely use some zhuzhing up overall and certainly could take a look at lowering some of their prices, like their calamari - I imagine it's their most popular menu item so it should be priced reasonably to get people in the door! read more

I haven't been here in nearly 20 years since I was a teenager! But we were in the area and I was trying to think of a fun place to take kids...this definitely was the right choice! Coloring pages, kid drinks, interesting pictures on the walls & complimentary bread makes for happy children (3 & 5!) We ordered sodas, antipasto salad & mushroom/ sausage pizza. OMG! I just LOVE meatball Mondays @ Buca! It's 1/2 price off their spaghetti and meatballs dinners so $39.99 becomes $20 And the larger portion $55.99 becomes $28. I just can't pass up this deal! Ok, I don't go here every Monday but I sure hope they keep this for awhile in this economy. We (hubby and I) got the large dinner with 3 one pound meatballs. We have lunch tomorrow!! Yay! And we asked for extra sauce and bread to take home. Although our server forgot about us (because we sat at the kitchen table), he made up for it afterwards. We had to ask for him the first time LOL. I love coming here because it definitely reminds me of my childhood and how we would come here for special occasions. Nowadays, I usually order from here when I have a big game coming up or if I want to make several meals for work and home from one dish. There are so many gems with just the pasta alone. The Spicy Chicken Rigatoni is a hit with its mixture of garlic, crushed red pepper and peas, pieces of chicken breast, and spicy rosa sauce. The Spaghetti with Meatballs is always a solid option where half-pound meatballs are doused in marinara sauce and spaghetti. The Fettuccine Alfredo is my favorite and usually lasts several days! I enjoy eating the Baked Ziti, which has provolone, mozzarella, and rosa sauce tossed and topped with ricotta and Italian-style bread crumbs. The Lasagna is truly amazing with its towering layers of mozzarella, ricotta, meat sauce, Parmesan, and provolone cheese. Other wonderful entrees include the Chicken Parmigiana and Eggplant Parmigiana, which are both topped with homemade marinara sauce and mozzarella. The former has parsley and the latter has basil and tomatoes. I would also recommend the Cannolis and Tiramisu! read more

Early Mother's Day Dinner I had an early Mother's Day dinner with my daughter and it was a nice experience. We had a 6pm reservation, but arrived at 5:45 and were seated right away, yay for being early and the place not being too busy! Our server was attentive from the start, promptly getting our drinks and giving us time to look over the menu. We shared an appetizer (bruschetta) and an entrée (penne vodka). The servings were generous - certainly enough to share. The bruschetta was served in a beautifully crafted bowl, though it was a bit too tall to serve from comfortably. You kind of have to lift yourself up just to get at it. As for the penne vodka, it was okay - we've had better, but we still ended up taking half of it home. The restaurant interior is homey and decorated nicely, which makes it a good spot for groups. Parking, however, is limited; I saw a car circling and waiting for a spot. Prices are on the higher side, but the portion sizes help justify it. read more

No flavor in the dishes, added chicken to a pasta and it was the most horrible microwaveable poor quality chicken I have ever seen at a restaurant. Not worth the $8, not even worth $1. We celebrated my dad's 90th with a party. Room was fabulous, food was ok, BUT service was horrible. Small portions and very expensive for a crowd. . They serve family style, but cut appetizers so small forcing everyone to share with bite size portions. It's not what it used to be + and now I realize why they filed for bankruptcy. When I reached out to the person who helped us to plan our event, I was told i would receive a call back from customer relations, but never did. So frustrating! Do not waste your special event on a business who doesn't care about integrity + customer satisfaction. This was our fav restaurant long ago, we had many many family events celebrated here, but times change and so does customer service. read more

Buca is one of those places you probably have at least tried once if you're in LA. I have been going to this location since I moved to the valley. Back in the day when I was in LA I know I've been to the one in universal city walk a few times. It's just one of those places that sometimes family or group get-togethers are held. I also ordered catering (trays of pasta and salad as well as pizza) size and during pandemic they had promotions and I ordered to go here on a regular basis. If you sign up you get emails and have coupons for specials or $25off $50. So a couple of days weeks ago I got that coupon and used it. Here's the deal - pasta is placed in the oven so pasta tends to dry up and if you like your pasta to have more sauce - ask for extra sauce. This is what I did for our baked ziti - I asked for more sauce. So it came with extra sauce on the size and our server also said they put more sauce before they placed it in the oven. Love the fresh bread, dip it in a combination of olive oil and balsamic vinegar and drizzle with Parmesan cheese so good! If bread is warm you can of course use butter. Small serving feeds 3 with some for to-go. We also ordered pizza. I took out 1 star because service can be improved - I know the place have different areas so servers maybe too busy and can forget your requests (refill water, more napkins etc). Will recommend for dine in or takeout - they always have specials and promotions so it's generally good value. read more

Ouch! Has this place has really gone downhill. Went here for my birthday and ordered the chicken Marsala ($50) and Margherita pizza ($30). Glass of Chianti to round it out. For the price, portions were SMALL SMALL SMALL. Wine was a slim 4 oz pour. They claim the chicken feeds 3 people? Not a chance. Maybe 1.5 on a good day. Pizza was gone in minutes. My family took me out for a birthday dinner at the Bucca di Beppo last Sunday night. We ordered Caesar salad, fried calamari, spaghetti with meat sauce, chicken limon, fettuccine alfredo, and broccoli. We were all super impressed with the food. It was so much better than we remembered it being the last time we were there. The service was also great. The restaurant was fairly empty which was great in terms of noise (we could actually hear each other speak), but made me a little sad because a fun restaurant like this should be busy every night rest of the week. Very disappointing experience at Buca di Beppo in Encino. The restaurant officially opened at 11:00 AM, but when we arrived we were told to wait at the hostess stand because staff was focused on filling Uber Eats and DoorDash orders instead of seating dine-in guests. There were at least six delivery drivers standing around waiting for food, and nobody was available to help us. The restaurant appeared severely understaffed both in the kitchen and on the floor. After waiting until 11:20 AM without being seated or even properly acknowledged, we decided to leave. A restaurant should prioritize the customers physically standing inside the building, especially right at opening time. I would not recommend this location. read more

The ambience was lovely, and me and my friend waited no more than 15 mins for a table of two around during dinner. We sat and our server attended us well at first but then completely forgot about us, while I ordered my drink he left before my friend could order hers, we were offered no refills throughout the entire time we were there (over an hour) while the table next to us that mind you got there AFTER us got their drinks refilled three times and was checked up on multiple times, even when we asked for the check it took our server 30 mins to get it and another 20 to bring back my card. The food was good, but having a total bill of 100 dollars (for two people) and terrible service just makes the entire experience not worth it, I'm sad, but I will not be returning anytime soon as well as advising people to not go, sad to have this happen read more

I placed an order online for pickup to take to work. Ordering thru their website was quick and simple. I opted to get the Salmon Basilico, which is available for a limited time. The order was ready to go when I arrived. The gentleman at the counter was polite and cordial. For my salad choice, I went with the Caesar. Basic Caesar, it wasn't bad. Lettuce was fresh, croutons were crisp and the dressing was tasty. My side order was Italian Broccoli Romano. I didn't realize the broccoli came with red pepper flakes. It wasn't overly spicy. But the little hit of heat was pleasantly surprising. The salmon was cooked perfectly. The creamy, pesto sauce was amazing! I wish I had more of it! Unfortunately, during the commute, my dinner tipped on its side and the sauce from the bottom of the to go container leaked into the bag. Luckily, the sauce that was on the filet was still in place. The cherry tomatoes that it's served with were ripe and lightly blistered. Last, but certainly not least, was the cannoli that I ordered for dessert. This is Festa week for BTS ARMY so we got together for a week of festivities! BTS dined at Buca's so it was one of our lunch stops. Everyone agreed the food was very tasty and the desserts were out of this world. I had the salmon with linguine and roasted cherry tomatoes. Mine was delicious and the tomatoes were especially flavorful, don't ask why but for me it was awesome. A friend had egg plant parmigiana with green beans and she left nothing on her plate. She loved it. I couldn't believe how much she had, it was huge. One of our party added tiramisu and it was great. It was so huge we had 2 tables sharing it. We later learned that it was our server's first day and to handle a table of 14 on your first day he did great. The restaurant is really cool with several rooms for groups to feel they have the restaurant to themselves. They have a lunch menu but you pay per table, no individual tabs. Dinner is the same so know that going in. We added the tax and gratuity, divided by the number of people and added the cost of the individual meal purchased, easy peasy.
