First time ever trying Calif Chicken Cafe. Totally foreign to us being from NorCal. Surprised with the mediocre rating, but my experience here was perfect. First of all, some of the pics are old. They had a lot of orders being churned out, but they move quickly. As for the food--outstanding for my first time. Simple yet tasty with quality. I like how the menu is not overwhelming and they focus on what their namesake suggest: chicken. We ordered 2 wraps and 1 salad. All the ingredients seemed and tasted very fresh. The portion is very generous for both the wrap and the salad. And when I mention the portion, this also goes for the star of it--the chicken. The chicken was all white meat and was very good. I can't lie. I was influenced to go here after walking up and down the street to and from my hotel to the clinic I was visiting and seeing the multitude of people driving up to pick up their orders. So my expectations were actually low. I got the 1/4 dark meat and roasted potatoes. The chicken was flavorful and cooked perfectly. I loved the potatoes, which I thought was a generous portion. And the chipotle sauce was yummy. My mom had the goddess salad and loved it. We had the chocolate chip cookies too, which I didn't eat until the next day and it was still quite tasty. The food was ready faster than I thought it would be. My mom picked it up but it sounded like a seamless, clean pickup process. read more

Very disappointed with my experience at California Chicken Cafe. I placed three pickup orders scheduled for 5:11 PM. The restaurant even called me to confirm that I had intentionally placed all three orders, and I confirmed that I did. At no point during that call was I told there would be a delay. When I arrived, after waiting 10 minutes already, I was told the order would take a little longer. I didn't receive my food until 5:37 PM 26 minutes after the promised pickup time. I was repeatedly told they were "about to make it," but no one provided an honest timeline. I understand the kitchen was busy making dark meat specials, but that's a back-of-house issue and shouldn't become the customer's problem, especially when orders are placed in advance and a pickup time is promised. To make matters worse, while waiting for my orders, I asked if I could add four small 2-ounce containers of Parmesan cheese. Instead of any consideration for the lengthy delay, I was charged $0.75 for each one. There was no apology, no effort to make things right, and no acknowledgment of the inconvenience. What was especially frustrating was seeing the manager sitting inside eating Red Vines while customers were waiting on delayed orders. A little leadership, communication, and customer care would have gone a long way especially ordering here a few times a month. On top of it all my order was incorrect. Poor communication, lack of accountability, and disappointing customer service. Unfortunately, this experience fell far below expectations. read more

I got a vegan crunch wrap and it had a large piece of hard blue plastic in it. I called the restaurant and they did hear my complaint and the head offices called me and let me know they couldn't figure out what it was, which seems odd. And they offered me a refund and $40 one time gift card but honestly never going to eat there again. I hurt my teeth and I find it odd they couldn't figure out what it was. They were nice but I don't need an $40 gift card to a place I'm never going to again. read more

I ordered through the app which was super easy to do. Waited a bit longer for my food but that's okay. When I got my food I didn't check it was correct because I was so hungry and anxious to get home. Luckily I stopped at the light right by the restaurant- unbeknownst to me they had forgotten my extra chicken I paid $6 for but the nice employee who handed me my food decided to RUN my protein out to me. What a relief. I would have been incredibly disappointed after a long day if my food was missing my chicken. Luckily she decided to run it to me! I hadn't been here in awhile but had been craving the veggie wrap and broccoli pasta salad for some time. So that's what I got plus the Melrose wrap to try something new. I was not disappointed. In fact I was beyond pleasantly surprised. So much delicious food for a very reasonable price. Who can say that anymore? The wraps were substantial, fresh and as delicious as I remember. Full of good ingredients, not skimping on anything. I could only eat half for a meal and saved the other half of the wrap for another. The broccoli pasta salad was also as big of a hit as I remember and loved by everyone in my family that tried it. The ordering process is a bit different as is the environment. Unfortunately there is no in dining service anymore, only takeout. I arrived and ordered outside in the front of the restaurant and waited for my name to be called. The timing was short and my order was accurate. It looked like many people ordered online and drove up to pickup in their car. I will try that next time. Highly, highly recommend. read more

Hello, I am writing to report an unprofessional interaction I experienced today, January 9, 2026, while picking up DoorDash orders at your restaurant. I arrived for pickups at approximately 8:14 PM and again at 8:39 PM. During the second visit, the same female staff member initially handed me an order without issue. However, later she abruptly insisted that I take a photo in the DoorDash app and show it to her before releasing the food. The way this was done, especially in front of other customers, felt disrespectful and humiliating. After delivery, the customer informed me that the drinks were missing, as they were not included in the bag. I am simply doing this work to earn a living, and this experience was very disappointing. Their ranch is truly the best, so creamy and full of flavor! Their drive thru life is very efficient, and fast! Have to love the convenience of placing an online order and driving up to pick it up! Workers are so sweet and to out of their way to help you any way they can. I have had their salads in the past and they are fresh but I didn't love the dressings, only the ranch stood out for me and I'll put that on anything! I get a large bottle of the ranch and it last for a few weeks in the fridge. Would recommend trying this place out for lunch, or dinner, and bringing friends to join you.
