There is a parking structure, I think its called "Plaza de Fuentes". The first 90 minutes free with a restaurant validation. As I walked in, the host greeted me and asked for my parking ticket for validation. I got sat and waited for my friend to arrive. I've been dining at CPK over the past 20 years and things change. I'm not sure, but the bread pieces and size are getting smaller each time I come to the restaurants. The restaurant was quiet, and had few diners when I arrived. By the time I left, there were more diners enjoying the happy hour menu. I ordered some items from the happy hour menu for my friend who was joining me after her work shift. The happy hour items came out super fast, faster than my actual order of garlic cream sauce pasta with chicken! As the items were sitting there, getting cold, I could tell our server, Britt, was getting a little worried that the quality of food would diminish. She kept wondering when my friend was going to show up. I assured her that it's okay, and we understand. I appreciated her commitment to ensure the food quality was great upon consumption. She even offered to heat it up for us. That's great service. Also, when paying for the check, she noticed the pricing didn't match the happy hour prices. I truly love California Pizza Kitchen. I still remember the first time I went -- it was for a business lunch at the California Pizza Kitchen - Redondo Beach location. I'll never forget ordering the Thai Chicken Salad. From that day on, I was hooked -- the pastas, the pizzas, the salads... all of it! This review is based on my takeout experiences at California Pizza Kitchen - Pasadena. I've also dined both indoors and on the patio there, and it's always been a pleasant experience. Curbside takeout has consistently been smooth and convenient. Recently, I noticed that the pickup process uses an automated system that remembers your previous order and asks if you'd like to reorder it. It seems to function like a chatbot, which actually makes things quick and easy -- especially if you're a creature of habit and tend to order the same thing. My order is always ready on time, the staff is friendly, and the food presentation is consistently good. I'd say the biggest downside is the bread. I remember when they used to serve a generous, satisfying piece. Lately, it's been a small, underwhelming portion. Our closest CPK's in Charlotte have closed so it's been a while since I've visited one, I was excited to go to one, especially IN California! I'm not sure if my tastes have changed or what but unfortunately it didn't quite live up to my mental hype. I ordered a Thai Chicken pizza and a blueberry lemon drop cocktail. The cocktail was just ok. We have a Brixx pizza at home and I love their Thai chicken pizza, I guess that's what I was expecting when I ordered this pizza and I did not like it as much. The crust was not as good, the pizza just wasn't as flavorful, and it seemed a bit dry. I had almost ordered the Charcuterie Salad so I ordered that to go the next day for lunch. It's been decades since I've last been to a CPK but time limitations brought us here with my senior aunt. She suggested this place since it was 2 blocks away. The food here is soooo hearty and soooo good! I got the full size BBLT sandwich with the tomato bisque soup, and my husband got the full size club sandwich with the tomato bisque. Service was fast and friendly!! It's also very nice in here. Also, just an FYI register to be a rewards member and they give you a free starter (appetizer). Haven't been here for ages. Rushed in last minute to claim a email promotion that was giving us a lot of trouble and frustration on their app and online system. Even though their kitchen was closing down, Edwin went out of his way to get our promotion redeemed and our order put together perfectly. He also helped us add two take and bake pizzas for $9 each. Really saved us so much hassle. Had the garlic cream alfredo pasta which was creamy and delicious. Had to add on chicken and mushrooms to make it complete but well worth it. Hubby had his usual cedar plank salmon and it was cooked perfectly. The take and bakes were delicious at home the next day. The food came and was hot and fresh. I ordered the Shrimp Scampi Zucchini. It looked and tasted good, but there was a lot of pasta water on the bottom of my bowl. My guest ordered a Thai chicken pasta dish; which she said tasted a bit off from what it should taste like. Service was o.k. But a bit slow, as our server had other tables to handle. I ordered a Take n' Back pizza; which the server did not place the order. We had to wait for it to be prepared. Cons: The Pizza dough is not risen when baked. The staff are incredibly kind and really go out of their way to take care of everyone. They are also really accommodating with substitutions - ie, making a pizza vegetarian. We had a catering order and picked it up around 11:30 AM today. When we arrived at the office, we realized we had received the wrong order, we got a chicken piccata instead of salmon. We immediately called CPK Pasadena and they handled the situation right away. Not only did they replace the order, but they also delivered it to our office free of charge. What truly surprised us was that we expected to receive just the salmon replacement, but they went above and beyond by including the pasta as well. We were beyond happy and completely satisfied with how everything was handled. A special thank you to Hector, the general manager, who personally delivered the order. We honestly didn't expect much and assumed we might just get a refund, but we were incredibly impressed by the quick turnaround and exceptional customer service. We used to come here when our kids were small and let them play out in the patio after they had had their Alfredo noodles and a ton of bread. Needless to say I have warm memories of this place. Last Friday we went there to enjoy the happy hour (3-6pm M-F). It's a pretty great deal - a draft beer and a pizza for $9. I gave my husband my beer and ordered a glass of wine $7 and we got some Buffalo cauliflower, also $7. Out the door was @$40 plus we took some pizza home. We hosted a birthday party here, and the staff was very helpful during the initial planning process. However, the experience fell short once we arrived. We expected everything to be set up and ready at the scheduled time, but instead we were handed a bag of aprons and hats and had to distribute them ourselves. Additionally, we never received the chef coat that was promised. The on-site manager told us he would order one and that we could pick it up within a week. When we called a week later, another manager said there was no record of it and promised a callback that never came. Great location for having a family gathering to celebrate after a wedding rehearsal. We got our own room and our own server who was REALLY great. He checked on us often and we always had the buffet table replenished. The different pizzas were yummy and the two pasta dishes were yummy as well. The spicy pasta was my favorite amonst the two. We came on a Tuesday at around 6pm. Our wait time to get sited was approximately 20 minutes, which I thought wasn't bad because it was busy. However right after we got situated we had to wait for a long time unattended. I understand they are busy but at least acknowledge us. Luckily the busboy noticed we have been waiting for a long time. He then came to us and told us the server will be with us shortly. He then offered water to drink. It took more than half an hour before our server showed up. When the server got to us, we immediately put in our order since we have a child with us that was already starving. Food preparation was long. It took 40 minutes before it was served. But on the other hand, I noticed there were 2 other tables/group of guests around that came later than us and was taking care off immediately as they have a different server. In our case, we still need to get our server attention to follow up our order otherwise it could have been more longer wait. When our food arrived, it was already cold, It seems like, it's been sitting in the counter for a while. It didn't taste as good anymore as it was not served hot. It was neglected! One of our order even came incorrectly. Specifically we explained (numerous time) what we wanted for the kid's plate (spaghetti with sauce on the side) but instead she gave us macaroni and cheese. We then have to wait for another 15 minutes for the right order. In addition, i think CPK reward program advertisement is misleading. It says sign up "today" and get a free small plate . According to our server, free plate can only be redeemed on our next visit, not on the day that we sign up. I just thought it sounds contradictory to the flyer because of the word "today." I guess the leaflet needs to be reviewed for accuracy to match the server' s understanding/explanation. My overall experience was dreadful! I happened to be here just to support school charity event. I ordered the California Cobb since I was craving avocado, and I hilariously ate it in pieces without mixing it. The ranch was on the side, but my server hadn't brought it to me for about 30 minutes before handing me the check. Outside of the ranch hiccup, my server wasn't too attentive and had misinformed me of their welcome deal for "Small Plates" since their menu doesn't list "Small Plates" anywhere. I was told that the spinach and artichoke dip had qualified when it in fact hadn't and was charged the difference despite being told not to worry about it. Have been coming here for close to 20 years. We've seen menu that we love come and go, but they made the decision to get rid of the best item on their menu. The Key Lime Pie. It's the best dessert they have and for some asinine reason, they decided to nix it off the menu. It's the best thing they had and they got rid of it.
