This review is for the birthday parties at CPK. We had a phenomenal experience. A huge thanks to Brian for being so patient when working with us to plan the party. A huge shoutout to Artis for working with the kids with such enthusiasm and helping us on the day of event. He made the experience such an incredibly positive experience. He even packed up our leftovers in a bag which we hadn't thought of. We heard so many parents talk about how impressed they were with what CPK offered. Have been coming here for close to 20 years. We've seen menu that we love come and go, but they made the decision to get rid of the best item on their menu. The Key Lime Pie. It's the best dessert they have and for some asinine reason, they decided to nix it off the menu. It's the best thing they had and they got rid of it. Also they have items on the menu exclusive to Postmates, but if you try ordering it in the actual restaurant, they look at you confused and just bring you a cold uncooked dish. This place is mismanaged. when we asked the manager for our check as the waiter hasn't been to our table for a while, he responded that, "he will be here in just a second.". Our pizza was served late, half fluffy, half burnt , and part of it seemed defeated, Uhrr, I mean deflated . Ordered a carne asada and the California club pizza. Not enough meat or flavor for the carne asada pizza and the avocado that was served in the club pizza was not the best. The avocado had signs of damage and age instead of showing a healthy green, I guess CPK doesn't care of the ingredients they serve on there dishes. The restaurant is half opened towards the indoor part of the mall; second floor. We got sat near the restrooms ( personally I don't think any restaurant should have tables near the restrooms, especially when there is no full wall built to separate the sitting section. One good thing is that we did feel part of the breeze from the A.C . I thought it was going to be just as hot as it was in the waiting area. Our waiter was friendly and even the manager came to our table to apologize for the delay. The pizza served was just not the best and made the experience of eating here worse. I have spent a fair amount of time here lately and have gotten to try multiple menu items. The food is solidly good. Out of all I've tried, my favorites are garlic cream fettuccine and butter cake. If you feel so inclined, the garlic cream fettuccine tastes even better with chicken and mushroom. The first time I got it, I thought fettuccine is pretty basic; how good could it be? The garlic cream sauce makes all the difference! It is delicious! Also, I'm not a big dessert/sweets fan, but I LOVE the butter cake! It's not a very heavy cake but delicious! If you're a fan of pound cake, you will love it too. It's great paired with their ice cream. Also, I love that they give you free bread with their flavored olive oil. You can ask for more bread. I always ask for a side of balsamic vinegar for my bread also. The service is generally on point, and it's a great casual atmosphere. However, if you're a little dressy, it works here too. read more

Tha chicken piccata portion was smaller than what I'm used to when eating at the restaurant. The chicken side was inedible as well. CPK is slipping in service, food quality, and portions. Don't feel like cooking on a Sunday and on a rare day that we have no kid activities, CPK seems like a good choice. I haven't been here in years and forgot how nice the dining room is, with the high ceilings and abundant natural light. Luckily their lunch special duo is also available on weekends, and it's the perfect amount of food. I got pizza and salad, and my older one got pasta and salad. It's a seasonal item, but their watermelon cooler sparkling drink is REALLY good. The kitchen made the food pretty quickly, and my server refilled my iced tea and checked on us a few times, so no complaints about the service. I ordered 2 KP spaghettis on 9/7 for pickup one night and when we opened it the spaghetti was dry, barely any pasta sauce mixed in, and little chicken. This was by far the worst I've had this pasta and had to throw it away. I called CPK to inform them but since it was already close to closing, the manager said he would mail out 2-$25 gift certificates to make up for it and that it would arrive in 2 days. Not only did it never arrive, I called 3 weeks later to check in and spoke with another manager about it who said he'd call be back within an hour. No one called me back and it's been a month now. This is the worst CPK with the worst managers managing it. Both managers I spoke to were men. One with a regular English accent and the 2nd with a Hispanic accent. Best location!!!!!! I've always been a big fan of CPK. I became a bigger fan with this location at the mall. The 5 stars are for both curbside aaannnnd dine in! ONLINE/CURBSIDE- super easy website, and they also have an app! I don't really need to go into detail with this lol. Curbside is fantastic and they bring it out right away. Don't even worry about it being in the mall... They package food great so you can even order soup! **curbside is next in between Nordstrom & macys** Reservations/Walk ins- I don't think I've ever made a reservation here but I know they have it available. I usually dined in for lunch. I have never waited more than 5 min to be seated. Service- everyone is nice and very accommodating! Food- so many different options. If you want a GOOD DEAL go during lunch to get the lunch duos you get a small pizza and salad or soup. Price- not bad for lunch. Probably about 15 per person. Located across the street from Pasadena City Hall and adjacent from Alexander's Steakhouse, this CPK location is one of our favorite in the area. CPK is one of those restaurant where you know exactly what you are gonna get and there's something on the menu for everyone. We came on Valentine's Day to take advantage of their sweetheart for two menu (they have this promotion every year). The promotion came with an appetizer, 2 entrees, and a dessert. We ordered the spinach artichoke dip, full size bbq chicken salad, garlic chicken fettuccine, and red velvet cake. I wanted to give a shout-out to our awesome server of the night, Rayven. The restaurant was filled for dinner service and we can see they were short staffed. Rayven did a great job making sure all her tables were attended to and she provided great service and kept a smile on her face the entire time. It's good. I mean, it's always good, never amazing. It's good food with a broad menu, something for everyone. This was my first time at this location and it's the nicest location I've been to. I enjoyed eating outside on their patio with a view of a fountain in the courtyard. There were umbrellas to help with shade. I had a pizza with mushrooms, pepperoni and sausage, and my friend had the wild mushroom pizza. It is good, decent pizza. Friendly staff and they were attentive--checked in often. They didn't really anticipate needs or notice when our beverages were empty and needed refills, but they were very happy to refill them promptly when we asked. Validated parking in the garage and also plenty of nearby meters. read more

The interior is nice with the high ceilings and curved seating areas. My friend and I shared a free pizza because the Dodgers won yesterday. Join the CPK Rewards! CPK is a chain favorite. The menu is good with a variety of lunch and dinner options . They have an awesome happy hour M-F 3-6pm. I often dine here with my family because it has something for all of us. Kung pao spaghetti, buffalo cauliflower, and the butter cake are a few of my favs. The staff is great and welcoming. The interior can use a nice remodel, but besides that it's ok. read more

The left side is much more fun. Seating on the right side as you walk in, is more dim and calmer. I was seated on the right side and asked to be moved to the main seating area on the left side as you walk in, because it's brighter and higher up. There are large TVs by the bar if you're interested. The food is very tasty at this location. Everything was made to perfection. I paid for street parking across from city hall at $1.25 per hour, not realizing that they validated parking in the garage around the corner, oops. I downloaded the CPK to redeem a free small plate and chose the White corn guacamole + chips, but it didn't come off the bill because I didn't pay using the app? Oh well. Passion fruit mango iced tea and regular iced tea are unsweetened. The other flavors are sweetened and have calories. Lunch duos daily from 11 am - 4 pm have several options but not all of the fancy pizza and pasta choices. I got the 7" California veggie pizza and super spinach + quinoa side salad, and they were pretty good. The salad was especially refreshing with fresh apples, sweet cranberries, and crunchy sweet spiced pecans. The Bolognese spaghetti was perfectly al dente. okay so i ordered a bbq chop salad. i wasn't aware that it's not a bbq salad. (now does that make sense to yall?) it's a salad with chicken that is drizzled with *2 oz* of bbq sauce. the only reason i know the ounces is i was told by the manager and the employee that it's only a 2 oz drizzle for this huge salad. terrible service and terrible wording on the menu. mind you it's late at night when i pick up the food and notice this little bit of bbq on my "BBQ chopped" salad. so i call. and explain very politely the situation. just to be told *might i add like i'm a kindergartener* how much dressing on the salad. normally it's not a big deal like i'll go pick it up or whatever. but to be condescending on top of giving a customer less than what they paid for is crazy. now look at the BBQ i got vs the huge salad.... now do you see any bbq sauce *trust me i put it in*? waste of my money definitely going to get my money back one way or another. read more

I had the Thai pizza. Very disappointing. There were like 5 tiny pieces of chicken on it. Overwhelming taste of carrots. Had to ask for bread in the first place which took a long time to come which was hard because we were very hungry after waiting 45 minutes to get a seat even though it wasn't actually that busy. Asked for more bread which she said she would bring but never did She was friendly but not very attentive. No one ever checked on us after bringing us food. We were told that the jambalaya would be leaving the menu soon which is my husband's favorite but it is very expensive so it is a treat for him. Guess I'm gonna have to learn how to make it myself for him. The WiFi never works either. We were there so long having to wait first to get in and then for our food that we had to pay to park which adds to the bill. We were like a minute over but had to pay. This California Pizza Kitchen restaurant is located on the corner of Los Robles Avenue and Union Station, diagonally across from USC Pacific Asia Museum. With a gift card that I have received a few Christmases ago, I decided to redeem it (now is the time for you to use up your gift cards, as most businesses may end up closing up for good like Souplantation. Unfortunately I have ~$65 left in gift cards that I did not get to use). So on a Wednesday, I decided to make a to go order on line and ended up getting: Dinner for 4, $45 prior to tax- For this family meal option, it comes with a Cesar salad, your choice of pasta, your choice of 2 pizzas and a sourdough baguette with herbed oil on the side. I ended up picking the following: - Cesar Salad= Requested for the dressing to be placed on the side (and substituted for herb ranch dressing and Thai dressing peanut instead) and omit the cheese. The portion was smaller than I was expecting and thought it was on the small side for a family of four. - Sourdough Baguette= I was actually surprised that we received a whole baguette and that it was also sliced. It was still nice and warm by the time home, which was a nice touch. - Garlic Cream Fettuccine Pasta= I decided to add broccoli for an additional $1.50 (I just wanted to use up my gift card, thus the add on). I was disappointed that the broccoli added was not very much at all (see my photo) and would not recommend adding a topping to your pasta. The pasta itself was nice and quite garlicy and creamy. - Mushroom Pepperoni Sausage Pizza= I chose the hand tossed crust (other upgraded crust will cost you extra). This pizza was a bit of a disappointment since the sausage was not evenly distributed on the pizza (you can see what I mean in my photos). One slice had the majority and near the pointed side of the pizza. Just about 4 slices had the sausage. Whoever made this pizza was just lazy and should have done a better job distributing the toppings like they had for the pepperoni. The pizza overall tasted just fine but wasn't memorable. - Thai Chicken Pizza= Also picked the hand tossed crust for this pizza. I am really glad I picked this pizza because it was really good and really did remind me of Thai chicken (well the Americanized version). I liked the peanut sauce used as the base instead of marinara and liked the chopped peanuts and bean sprouts added for a nice crunch. But the bean sprouts do not stay on the pizza so it does make for a messy meal. I was rather disappointed with the small amount of chicken on the pizza and also was not evenly distributed on the pizza (no surprise there). --------------------------------- (Total= $51.27 after tax) For whatever reason, I was unable to pay with both my gift card and credit card (for the remaining balance) on line and so I had to pay when I arrived. I parked on Los Robles (Please note that there are designated 15 minute parking spots available) and then walked inside. An employee who just happened to walk out to bring food to a table (yes they are currently open for outdoor dining) opened the door for me and told me to head all the way down to the register to get my to go order. When I walked over to the table, there were employees working and also just standing around talking to each other. The employee nearest me had her back towards me because she was speaking to an employee facing her. This employee saw me standing there and did not bother to tell the employee that there was a customer waiting to be helped. A manager or supervisor also saw me but walked passed me without asking if I needed help. I politely waited a little over 5 minutes for the 2 employee's to finish talking so that I did not interrupt their conversation... and then asked if this was where I was supposed to pick up my food. I think that was poor customer service by that employee and the supervisor or manager that did not bother to ask if I needed any help, when it was clear that I was standing there for a reason... Anyways, the employee ringing up my transaction was very nice and friendly. She gave me my two big bags of food and then I was on my way. The family meal for 4 (currently on their website, it looks like they got rid of the deal I got and has increased it to $70 since it now comes with 2 desserts of your choice) was a good portion and can feed more than 4 people. It did last us more than a day. Overall, my experience was average and probably would not come back. read more

Great location for dining indoor and outdoor. Spacious dining area and a nice patio setting overlooking Pasadena City Hall. Food are just as good as the CPK in Arcadia where we normally dine. This location is right across the street from our church. It's a perfect venue for us to catch up with church friends after the service. Lunch combos are perfect for such occasion. With either a pizza or pasta to go with a soup or salad provide the right amount of food and varieties to satisfy all cravings. I normally order an original BBQ chicken pizza to go with a Mediterranean salad. The pizza is a 7" size that would feed one person and the salad is a one person amount as well. The pasta selections include spaghetti or linguine with chicken or shrimp with extra charges. For $12.99 with such combo, it's a good value for the money. For those of you prefer outdoor dining, this CPK has the perfect patio dining setup. With the fountain next to the outdoor area, dinner can enjoy the running water sound along with the view of the City Hall, making conversation with friends much more pleasant. The restaurant also validate for parking. No need to make reservation as this location has many tables. read more

I'm a big fan of their garlic fettuccine Alfredo and the bbq chicken pizza, but the prices definitely are up there especially if you want to add chicken or mushrooms to the garlic fettuccine pasta, which is like about $2 for each additional item. In my recent visit there was a mixup with my order coming with shrimp instead of chicken and mushrooms, but it was resolved fairly quick. Food tasted good and service was great, but sure can be a kick to the wallet to come too often. Also it's neat that parking is close by and you get a nice walking distance to Pasadena City Hall. It's curbside, I parked on the same side the restaurant is on and I've always parked on that same side. Such a bad experience, sometimes there is no where to park and I have to keep driving around the building. I haven't been here in a while, and I was excited to come for my birthday with my father. Right away, what should've been a happy day turned sour and left a bad taste in my mouth, and this was because of the hostess.. as soon as we got there, she didn't smile at us although my father and I have huge smiles, and although most of the front of the restaurant that's in the beautiful Big room with big windows and bright sunlight was empty with a few patrons.. she asked us to sit in the back room where there are no windows and it's a small little room with dark walls and no other people were there except for an larger asian family with small kids ..I don't wanna say it's because we're Hispanic and my dad is bald with a goatee, but let's just say I had to actually get up from our seats where we were seated by the loud, noisy kitchen for some strange reason and ask the hostess to please seat us in the nice bright main dining room where there were plenty of seats. Order 3 pizzas and a Waldorf salad today from California Pizza Kitchen. Just received 20 mins ago and to our shocking surprised we found Mold in the complimentary bread. We have never had this issue and this made us question the salad and pizzas that we just order. We came for the Valentines special of two entrees, a salad, and dessert for $40. We were not aware we had to ask for a heart shaped pizza and just assumed it would be served because it was Valentine's Day. The pizzas are plenty large, and you will either have leftovers over leave CPK feeling really full (like me). Parking is easy, as there is an underground garage you may park in.
