Came to try their Torta for lunch during the "Sandwich week" as advertised in the Independent. It was majorly disappointing, it was a hot dog sliced in half served over 2 toasted pieces of bread and decorated with mustard and mayonnaise. First time I go there, will not go back. Honestly, shame on yall. You manually went into my delivery order to add an extra $2 charge for a standard sized small side of ranch dressing. It's not about the $2, it's the fact that it should not be more than .35C or it should be free with the meal. Additionally, you charge $11 for 3 small pancakes and provided an EVEN SMALLER side of syrup, enough for 1 pancake. And worst, I couldn't tell if the ranch was a rancid store bought dressing or a rotten homemade dressing. I had to throw it away. The peppers in the breakfast potatoes didn't taste fresh. Eggs were not seasons. But the sausage links were great and the pancakes were tasty, a classic buttermilk pancake. We stumbled upon this place by accident, and I wasn't sure if they were open for dinner because the sign said closed, but there were three people working and they let us eat on the patio. I liked how private and peaceful it felt with views of the mountains. This isn't an area of Santa Barbara that I often visit, so it felt really good to support this ma and pa restaurant. The waitress was so sweet, even though there was a slight language barrier, she tried hard and gave us different options for things that they ran out of. In fact, they ran out of potstickers, but decided to run to get ingredients at a neighboring grocery store just to make our potstickers. I felt really bad for them. But they were delicious and so were the tacos. The portions were big and maybe I wasn't expecting that much but I was fulfilled and satisfied. Hate to do this, but the food is pretty bad. Gave them a shot for the first time, and was shocked by the poor quality of the food. Eggs visibly overcooked, almost inedible, but I forced myself to eat half. Biscuit and gravy had a biscuit that must've been frozen and not baked properly because it was very dense in the middle, like the dough didn't rise properly--threw away after two bites. Waffle was OK but not unlike cheap frozen ones, like Eggo--son didn't want to eat it. Chilaquiles weren't terrible, so half were eaten. Even Denny's is better than this, and I don't even like Denny's. Seems whoever they had preparing breakfast today just doesn't know how to cook well. read more

Support your local mom and pop shops! We stumbled across this patio cafe when we went grocery shopping at Trader Joes on De La Vina. It's right next door! This is the perfect neighborhood weekend breakfast or brunch spot with the coziest patio. There's not much seating inside, just some stools by the kitchen. But the patio is spacious and cute and dog friendly! Come early though, they usually close around 2 or 3 every day. They have all of your classic breakfast and brunch needs - pancakes, waffles, bacon, eggs, sausage, omelettes, breakfast burritos, sandwiches...mimosas micheladas and bloody Mary's :) My boyfriend got the breakfast burrito (huge), I got the chilaquiles (chips were a little soggy), and my pup got eggs and bacon for his birthday :) overall food is average for what you'll get at a standard brunch place, atmosphere is nice and the management is super sweet. read more

This restaurant has just recently opened so most the good reviews are from the former restaurant. The owner/ waitress was rude at the beginning and it went downhill from there. I had to ask for water 3 times and condiments. The came with wilted lettuce. I had to go to the kitchen to ask for fresh lettuce. She was so rude. We only went there to use our AXXESS card and support a new business. Then she refused to accept the card and only gave us 10 %. My husband ordered the fish tacos, they came with a tiny amount of salsa. He always orders extra salsa but saw how bad the service was he didn't even bother. If I could I would rate this place a negative 5. Rossy the owner was super rude and made my toddler and I feel super unwelcome. If your handicap don't consider someone here as they don't accommodate straws to those who need them. Arriving at Rossy's establishment I was not approached very professionally or kind for that matter. After waiting there for about 3 mins (no one was there) Rossy comes out and says "yeah?" to me. I'm confused because I've never been approached like that anywhere. I ask can we sit anywhere? She turns and gives us her back waving her hand and says yeah. So we sit down and wait for my sister to arrive. A man takes our drink order and Rossy brings us the drinks. I then ask for straws. She looks at me as if I'm crazy and says we don't have straws. I'm with a small toddler who can't drink from a cup easily and I medically need a straw. We decide to get up and leave. I approach her letting her know that we decided to leave and why. I also shared how u comfortable she made me feel when I arrived with my 2 small children. She honestly didn't care how she made me feel. She never apologized to me and ho early all she said was "ok well bye." I then asked my daughter to say thank you for your time and I wished Rossy well. All I heard was yea yea bye. I came here once many years ago but didn't return as I didn't like my 1st experience. But when I was told it's new owners I was like well it's Covid and let's give it another shot. Formerly Steve's Patio Cafe, this became Patio Cafe about five years ago. My former apartment is a block or two away and when I come to SB I always visit Rosie and get one of the few dishes hard to find in NYC: huevos rancheros. I lived in that apartment full-time from 2006 to 2010, then not much till 2018, when I finally vacated my furniture to storage.
