Food is always good here but the customer service could be way better. No greeting upon entry, there wasn't anyone else waiting. The hostess was just standing there until someone came in behind me for a pick-up order and she helped him. I stood waiting to check-in for about 5 minutes which would not be bad at all if I hadn't made numerous eye contacts with who I' am assuming was the manager and she didn't say a word to me, then a family walked in and she immediately greeted them and asked how she could help??? Doesn't look much when you go in and that's the case. My girlfriend and I came to eat here and that was a mistake service was awful. We order pizza and salad and our food was taking long almost 40 minutes people were getting their food first that were behind us in line. Next thing you know the server comes and says that our order didn't go through because the system was down and that was BS because people that were behind us in line were getting their food first. Also, we were talking in Spanish and the server heard us and from there she started to ignore us and when she asked us something we would answer back and she would just leave really quick like she didn't care she'll pass by and didn't ask us if we were okay or needed anything else. My girlfriend and I felt discriminated against us because we were talking in Spanish. There's talk that this chain is closing down a few locations & I hope this isn't one of them!! California Pizza Kitchen has always been a solid restaurant to enjoy some pizza or flatbreads or some good salad. Surprisingly the kids macaroni is one of my favorite off the menu! TLDR: If you're hosting an event in Temecula and can't decide on what type of catering food, go with California Pizza Kitchen! PRO-TIP: Buy the $100 gift cards for $80 from Costco to save you extra money :) I placed a catering order with California Pizza Kitchen (CPK) last week to celebrate my engagement with my now fiancée. We had 20 guests attend the dinner and everyone was craving pizza/pasta. My budget was $400 and we were able to order the following, including tax and tip: 1 Large CPK Classics Trio Package (6 pizzas, 2 pastas, 2 salads, and 1 sweets tray/baguette) 1 The Works Pizza When arriving at the restaurant to pick up our food, the staff was on-time, attentive, and had our food piping hot and ready to go. She asked if we needed additional plates, utensils, sauces, tongs, etc...The food turned out absolutely delicious and met all my guests' needs. The catering staff had every pizza box specifically marked, separated the sauces, and thoughtfully packaged the order for easier transportation. Overall, I'm extremely happy with my experience with CPK catering and wouldn't hesitate to order from them again. read more

Unfortutunately, when we went early part of June they were short staffed. The server was wonderful and when I asked what has happened, (people who'd been waiting to have their order taken left while we were waiting); she told us the spill. They can't get help! Workers call in sick an hour before their shift or not at all, or late. New management that has to pick up slack & fill in where they can, cooks ?? My bolognese sauce was tasty but not hot. Food luke warm, left all leftovers. I looked around and what used to be a bustling business is sparse and choking! More people came and went waiting for service while we ate some of our meal which took 40 minutes to get. I feel bad that such a good chain has plummeted. Let's just say theres a reason they sell it in Every Grocery Store in the frozen section. My microwave has more personality than the servers that I have had the misfortune to meet while dining there. Oh well. Theres a better restaurant just a few feet away! With actual Service. I honestly believe that there needs to be a bit more training in this establishment and the management needs to evaluate the staff often. And reevaluate the newly hired. CPK is usually my favorite restaurant but lately they have not been providing me with what I ordered. On one order, I had ordered 2 key lime pies and they sent me 2 red velvet cakes. This order totaled $70. The next order totaled $156 and that order was messed up. I o ordered and PAID FOR EXTRA SHRIMP in the garlic fettuccine but I received 5 shrimp and a lot of fennel sausage. My problem is this: DON'T CHARGE PEOPLE IF YOU ARE NOT GOING TO FULFILL THEIR ORDER CORRECTLY.ALSO EVERYONE DOES NOT WANT THE CHEF'S RECOMMENDATION. CPK has lost me as a customer. At this particular CPK, I like getting take out. I usually do this after shopping for a few hours at the Promenade mall (which CPK is located within). The food is ready for me when I get there. They leave it heated so it won't get cold if I'm late. The free bread and butter is a bonus. My absolute favorite dish here is the Chicken Tequila Fettuccine. It's got that hint of lemon and jalapeno. The flavors are robust. The prices are reasonable anywhere between $10-15 for their entrees. read more

I don't know what it is but I'm not big into chains. However, this place usually doesn't disappoint me. My husband and I figured we should try the CPK at this location at least once, so we stopped in for dinner. My daughter doesn't eat a lot so we got her the tiny bites plate , the Mediterranean platter with hummus, pita bread, salad, etc. She enjoyed it and from what I tasted, I liked it too. We got the spinach dip to start and it arrived on our table, all warm and gooey, it was delicious. Then for our entree, my husband ordered his pizza, the pizza here isn't bad, the crust isn't what I prefer, but it isn't bad. I had the warm peach salad and that was delicious. Walked into CPK party of 4. We were standing at the hostess booth to get seated. No acknowledgement or greet from anyone.. they stared and knew we were waiting but no one came to us.. We stood there for about 10 mins before someone finally came to sit us down.. waited another 10 mins for our waitress Melida to take our drink orders.. we had to wave our waitress down to take our order because she was taking a long time.. food order.. pasta wasn't fully cooked, it was still hard.. The rest was just ok.. we love CPK at Cerritos Location but the Temecula location needs some TLC and definitely some positive vibes.. Won't be going back to this location. read more

Second time having this experience... waiting to be seated with no indication they know you're waiting to be seated. They have plenty of staff milling around, just no one paying attention to the door. First time, I waited a good 10-15 minutes to be acknowledged. Only because I was having a craving for Thai chicken pizza This time, I waited about a couple. Maybe not long enough, but again, no one even bothers to look in my direction. I walked away. Creamy Alfredo - the noodles were still tough to eat and had barely any sauce. Horrible sauce to noodle/chicken ratio. The works pizza - my pizza I ordered was super thin crusted which defeats the purpose of a good pizza and the topping were mediocre. California Club - Sandwich didn't even come with applewood smoke bacon like they said it would. Barely had small chicken bites in my sandwich since I chose chicken breast. We came on a Saturday and they seated us right away, within 5 minutes we had drinks and bread and our order in plus we have been to many CPKs but the last time in Mission Viejo the bartender was upset and was stingy with my drink when we mentioned it to the manager he ignore us & informed me drinks come half full so we paid for a half full drink and this time they brought me a normally served drink with the the side of the left over so it very nice to get what you pay for!. There's a picture of our drinks which are so good So we ordered 2 simple pizzas they came out burned they re did them twice & 3 times and so a total of 5 pizzas was a wait of over an hour and on top of that the manger tried charging for all the burn pizzas defiantly a mixed experience manager very rude and why would you charge for burn pizzas we didn't eat? We have been dining here for just over a year now. I'm glad we decided to go in and check it out. Our biggest concern was that my husband and son have celiac so they are on a strict gluten free diet. Our family loves CPK; however, this CPK location is terrible. The interior is dated, not lively like other CPKS, the music was also not lively. The patio area is dirty and the entire restaurant just looks extremely weathered. We were hopeful that at least the food and service would be good but we were wrong. The food was not as warm as it should be and all our food came out at different times, we also had to wait long periods for refills and items we needed. It felt like there was no manager on site and no cohesive team. The staff did not demonstrate any urgency in getting the customer good customer service. People kept coming in and just waiting for someone to acknowledge them since there was no one in the front for long periods. Very sad experience, hope they can get it together because we truly love CPK. read more

As far as a chain restaurant goes.. this one is better than most and I especially enjoy coming to the Temecula location. My husband and I ate here today and upon arriving we were told there would be a 15-20 mins wait (no problem)... We were seated within that time frame (great). The unfortunate is once we were seated, we also waited that amount of time, if not longer before someone even acknowledged us to offer water. We watched 2 servers go to the surrounding tables for approximately 10 minutes. A nice kid named Tristen finally came over (it appeared we weren't in the section he was working, but he still helped us)... There was even a heavy set male manager walking around to multiple tables who also never acknowledged us. No one seemed friendly. Everyone's personality was melancholy. We were told there would be a wait which we totally understood and they actually sat us out on the patio sooner than expected. But then we were forgotten. Our waiter/tress never came to our table. After almost 20 minutes, my husband went inside to remind them we were there and all the host said was, "Okay," and then proceeded to help guests seated inside that were seated after we were. We waited another 7-8 minutes and just finally had to leave (we had our baby with us). Wow, let's talk about it he service first. By far phenomenal service. We left astounded at how we were treated and how it's so not common now in days! Josh was our server and he was incredible! He was busy serving other tables and kept up with us. His manager was amazing. She offered to hold our little one while I ate. That alone meant so much to me! They truly took care of us and made our dinner so much more enjoyable. Our food was fresh and hot! The ambiance was great and so welcoming! The hostess was so sweet.
