It was all mixed so not only did I have to Pick the tails off of the shrimp, but I had to try to take all the chicken out of the meal. We love going to CPK as a family and have visited many of the franchise locations in the San Diego area and several times here in Temecula. I figured my review of this place is long overdue. We started off with our favorite mango drink. Then for appetizers, we always get the lettuce wraps that comes with fresh shiitake mushrooms, water chestnuts and scallions tossed in spicy ginger soy sauce. We like mixing the chicken and shrimp. On top of the wraps, we pair it with the spinach artichoke dip. For the main course, we consistently get the garlic cream fettuccine with shrimp and replace it with angelic hair, along with the Thai crunch with shrimp to share with the family. The kids order the usual pizza and regular cheese pasta. We only had to wait for 15 minutes to get seated on a busy Saturday night at this CPK that's located by the mall area. Harlie, our server did an amazing job with our order. She's very friendly and welcoming. The food came in surprisingly fast. The food was great and we were all filled. The wraps were off the hook and the dip didn't last long. Loved the sweet Thai flavor in the salad and the crunchy veggies. He was incredibly informative with all the questions I had, realistic with all the expectations for the big party, and accommodating with setting us up our reservation despite the short notice. You know how you go to a place for years then things suddenly begin to slip and and the quality begins to suffer, cleanliness and comfort becomes secondary, or worse. The Temecula California Pizza Kitchen is one of those places. Over the past year or so I have gone to this restaurant three times. The first time, I thought the problem was due to post COVID growing pangs. The menu was extremely limited, service was horrible, the place was not clean, music too loud, music selection really poor, and food selection and quality marginal at best. The second experience a few months later was really the same if not worse. However, it was my third and last experience that solidified my decision to probably never go back to this restaurant again. I honestly was extremely hesitant to even bother going into this restaurant. Certainly I don't expect a high level of classiness at a California Pizza Kitchen, however, there was a time when the chain had a moderate level of sophistication. Now it's really below a typical burger chain. At least this location is. My last experience started much like the prior two. Walk into the restaurant, the place almost empty, which is an obvious warning. A semi pleasant greeter to give me a seat, and all of the same issues as the previous two visits. This time I also noticed the menu was completely warn out and dirty. Nice way to create a first impression about how clean and safe the restaurant is. The place can't afford clean paper menus? In addition, this time there was a table next to me with a dog...a dog inside the restaurant. Not a service dog either, just a pet. Now, I really like dogs, but they are not clean animals. Can you imagine a restaurant with 30 or 40 dogs in it? They give off a lot of fur and dander which is unsanitary. I asked the waiter about it. "Oh, we told them the dog isn't allowed, but you see what kind of people they are. They wouldn't listen to us." May I talk to a manager I enquired. A manager was sent to my table. Again I asked why there was a dog in the restaurant. It's against health department health code. "Oh, dogs are allowed in California as long as it's behaving". So, I googled - California health department, are dogs allowed in restaurants, and in seconds I found they are not allowed unless they are with a uniformed police officer and a couple other reasons. None of which was the current case. Certainly the success of any business is reliant on the expertise of the leader. It is obvious that management needs to be educated and by the looks of this restaurant some extensive training. By the lack of patronage at this restaurant it would appear many have decided to no longer eat here. It will be a very long time if ever that I go back to this - or really any California Pizza Kitchen. Yikes! read more

I have been going here ever since I was a little girl. Their food is always bomb but the service in recent years has gone down. One ciabatta divided four-ways is not bread service. A mocktail ordered on first contact should not wait until the entrees are delivered before bein:g served. A half-full marg coupe which is 80% ice doesn't need a straw. It needs content. The sad stringy sprig of thyme doesn't finish the recipe. It finishes the drink. Spaghetti that is so undercooked that it protrudes from the fork should be observed by both the Runner and the KM as unacceptable and not wait until the Server has to return it for a remake on the fly. Zucchini 'noodles' should not look as if they were chipped off a banjo. I took the rest of my second batch home because, well, dinner was over. If anyone on the Team screws you over, go back to the Mgr. and ask how they can help you make it right. Because if you don't your unit will underperform and close. Then where will y'all be? Which I honestly hate leaving bad reviews. But coming back here for the second time in a row with both times being horrible service... I just had to say something. Our order wasn't taken until 10 minutes before the kitchen was closing. Meaning we waited there for 20 minutes while she was walking around back and fourth doing nothing. We were literally observing what was going on. Mind you, this happened as well during our first visit. And when she finally took our order, the kitchen was about to close. She promoted the $8 take home pizza to us after we told her our order. So then my friend asks for the menu. While my friend was looking through the menu of pizza, the server stated "Let me put this order in first while you decide and I'll come back for your pizza choice." I literally said "Wait wouldn't the kitchen close tho?" And she followed back saying "Let me check on it." After 10-15 minutes of waiting, we were trying to get her attention while we watched her walk back and fourth again... and when she finally came with our food, my friend brought up about her pizza. When my friend told her about it, the server had the response, "Oh.. okay." Like shocked. She walks around the whole restaurant and was responding in her radio (pretty sure asking if kitchen can make the pizza). Comes back and stands and literally says "I don't know how to tell you this. I've never worked at a restaurant who does this. But the kitchen is closed and they can't prepare the pizza. I'm really sorry. I have no control over it." Yes I agree she had no control over it. But mind you, she said she would come back and take the order. Although she didn't come back. Second, I even brought it to her attention that the kitchen would be closing? Third, what do you mean you've never worked at a restaurant that does this? You've been working at CPK, you mean to tell me you never knew you guys had last call? I think every server/previous servers know what last call is and knows every restaurant has it. And if she was ever attentive to our table from the moment we got sat, we would have been able to order before kitchen closes. She did state she will be back to take the order, but she didn't. I was beyond livid at this point that I couldn't even talk to her. I made no scene and was just disappointed how she could come back and blame it on the restaurant rules of last call when we clearly heard her say she'd be back to take the order AFTER I HAD BROUGHT UP KITCHEN CLOSING SOON. I don't even work there for crying out loud and I knew better! Take initiative and own up to your own mistake. Especially when you're talking to 4 people. We all heard what you said. It's embarrassing. As a previous server, I made mistakes and would own up to it because end of the day, the customers gonna be pissed. Might as well tell the truth than to blame someone else for your mistake and look like a fool for lying. Overall it was one of the worst customer service ever. From the first day we had her as our server, she already had this energy like she didn't want to serve us. And coming back for the second time, I think that's exactly what it was. One moment she'd come to our table with annoyance and then comes back when she does something wrong, being all nice. From the beginning the hostess was talking with a customer and looked around for a table in an almost empty restaurant and said it was a 5min wait she then finished her conversation and proceeded to seat my son and I. The wait time for waitress to come by the table was ok she was very friendly and had good recommendations. The kitchen staff was in a good mood but I could clearly hear them saying foul language in Spanish which I normally wouldn't mind but I was with my 9year old. The pizza was soggy in the center and deteriorated when picked up. I addressed the issue with the waitress and sent her manager over right away. I have always loved coming here, it is always delicious, however this location is lacking service. Alberto greeted us and brought us our drinks and then left us. During this time we weren't offered the "complimentary bread" and after we ordered our entrées, and were waiting, we finished our drinks completely and he didn't notice or pay any attention. No checkups at all, just kept passing by us. Once we got our food, we asked for the complimentary bread and asked for refills (which I never thought we would have to ask for). Once he brought them, I asked if I could get ranch to accompany my pizza and he never came back to the table with the ranch. A larger party he was serving, asked for ranch and he quickly got it for them and even brought the complementary bread right when he brought their drinks. I understand that there is a stigma associated with young adults for poorly tipping, however my boyfriend and I work and have worked customer service, and we always appreciate and reward that expectational service when finalising the bill. I have been to this particular restaurant and location many times and I've come to expect a certain quality. I recognize that these kinds of chain restaurants are only held to certain standards. However, our experience this afternoon was not acceptable. The wait was short (20 minutes) but it took about 10 minutes for our waitress to greet us and get our drink order. She came back with (3) drinks (mine came from the bar later) about 10 minutes after that. She said she would be right back to take our order and about 20 minutes later she came with our salad appetizer (the Italian without garbanzo beans which was so much better than with) and my drink and finally took our order. We waited about 25 minutes and in all that time we never saw our waitress. I saw others who were working their tables and even asked one if they could turn on the heater because it was cold outside. She nicely tried, and when she couldn't get it working she said she'd call a manager. They never came to turn it on. Our waitress appeared with more bread, which I had already said we didn't want. About 10 more minutes later (yes a total of about 30 minutes after our order was taken) a manager came out to bring our food and she asked if we needed anything's drink I just asked for the second drink I had ordered. Our waitress came back to ask if everything is ok and I say yes but again asked for my drink. The manager comes back with my drink about 10 minutes later. It was the longest lunch ever and not for any good reason. The best thing about that lunch was the fresh salad. We were seated immediately and approached by our server, Danielle. We promptly received our drinks, crusty bread and seasoned olive oil for dipping. Within minutes (8 minutes is what is promised) we received our margherita pizza. I was very happy with the food and service. We were finished eating and ready to go to our show within 30 minutes in plenty of time to make our movie!!! I have found the food and service from California Pizza Kitchens to be consistently good. This location is especially nice. This is a chain restaurant and so there is no comparison to be made with our local speciality restaurants like Goat and Vine (G&V pizzas are out of this world delicious). The waitress quickly took our drink orders and gave us menus. I was amazed by the variety of food available. Despite the name, CPK has a HUGE menu with a wide variety of choices. Under the circumstances I found it necessary to order the ribeye. I like my steak rare. Not just rare but, did you know that there are four stages of rare that are less done that your ordinary rare? CPK does. I ordered my steak "charred blue". A challenge that only the finest steakhouse will take on. My steak was buttery inside and gristly outside! Dinner yesterday. Great Mojitos. Regular and mango. My wife enjoyed both. Too sweet for me. Chicken Milanese was crispy/moist and the flavor is outstanding. Arugala salad was the perfect match for the panko crusted chicken. Very much recommended. I had the Halibut last time which I raved about. Chose Salmon roasted on a plank. I really was looking fwd to this dish. Salmon was not dry at all. It was roasted to my liking. No flavor, no buttery richness. Hmmm, perhaps farm raised??? I poured the herb infused olive oil from our bread to add something to this dish. My recommendation would be to order the Halibut. Also, if you like red velvet cake, order it with vanilla ice cream. We went about three months ago and had an extremely long wait time for food, but last night everything went smoothly and timely. Great staff (which is most important to me)! Good food!
