We just had an amazing dinner at California Pizza Kitchen, and I had to leave a review because the experience was that good. Our waitress, Mabel, was absolutely fantastic. She was warm, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. Her recommendations were spot on! We ordered the Cedar Plank Salmon, the West Coast Burger, and the Margherita Pizza on cauliflower crust -- and every single dish was delicious. The salmon was perfectly cooked and full of flavor, the burger was juicy and satisfying, and the cauliflower crust on the Margherita pizza was crisp and light while still being packed with flavor. You can really tell when someone knows the menu well and genuinely wants you to enjoy your meal -- that was Mabel. This was hands down our best experience at this California Pizza Kitchen location. This isn't one of our regular choices for lunch but we decided to try it today. They have lunch specials for under $15.00.. Two of us ordered the soup and salad duo and I ordered the sandwich duo with a muffuletta sandwich and a chopped salad. The salad was good but after eating some of the sandwich I realized that the vegetable mix had been left out. When I asked our waitress, I was told that they were out of it and was offered a different sandwich. I took 3 kids here for dinner and we all had a pleasant experience. We got a kids salad and 4 pizzas, cheese, bbq chicken, and pepperoni. A normal size pizza would be big enough to share. However my kids wanted their own. The cheese pizza had plenty of cheese and sauce. The bbq chicken was ok, it just lacked a little freshness and needed something to brighten up the bbq flavor. Mabel was not only friendly but super informative with the specials as well as the rewards program that we signed up for. She gave us recommendations and overall took wonderful care of us. This pizza that we picked up at 7pm last night Jan. 29, 2025 is without a doubt the best pizza I have ever had in Santa Clarita and ranks in the Top 5 of all time for me. We always get a good and consistent meal at any CPK location and after a few years of ordering delivery from our local store we finally had the chance to dine in person. It was a great experience. The food was on par with what we had at other locations, the service was great and everyone was happy. We especially appreciate that there are gluten-free options. My wife enjoyed her mushroom pizza on their gluten-free crust. I especially enjoyed the Neapolitan Burrata Pizza...a limited-time special which was on par with the pies that we recently had in Naples Italy. (Though cooked a little longer than they do there so you could actually pick up the slices and not have to fork and knife it. Our kid who, wasn't in the mood for pizza, liked the Garlic Cream Fettucini With Mushrooms and it's good to know that, despite the fact that it's got "pizza" in the name, it's a restaurant with a full menu of things to choose from so there are options for everyone of every diet. We also love that they partner with local organizations to help raise funds. I grew up on California pizza kitchen in the Bay Area and just starting to get back into it. The barbecue chicken pizza has not changed. It's absolutely amazing. The staff needs to be trained better. I gave the server my rewards number twice, and he never once recorded it, the restaurant has very much lighting and a few TVs. Everything we had on this day was up to our expectations and met the CPK standards our family have grown to love over the years. I have an allergy to cilantro so I make it clear that it can not even cross contaminate my plate of bless served with an epi pen. So what does the busboy bring out a pizza covered with cilantro It did not have a chance to touch the table I sent it back. Just simple, hey, let's grab a bbq chicken pizza. Maybe a pasta dish. But that's it. From the 80s to now, the downfall hasn't begun, it's already happened. But sometime you wanna have them a chance - one more, ok, maybe this will be better. Unfortunately, CPK seems to have hit the end of the road, even with some of their new items. I tried the braised short ribs and I highly do not recommend. I'd say it's more along the lines of pasta with a touch of short ribs because believe me, you will be fishing for that meat. "I know it's in there somewhere." The wide pappardelle pasta could use more ragu sauce. Some were dry, not tossed well. This is one of the more expensive items, but truly not worth the splurge. Save your money and get a pizza. Btw, two main pasta dishes ordered. We receive one single piece of bread. One tiny piece. Reminded me of the book: 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. In it was the example of the opposite: When a restaurant begins to cut back, the customer will soon notice. This then starts the downward spiral. Went in the other night and when I paid the bill tried to use a CPK gift card. They took a long time and then the manager came to my table and asked if I bought it at Costco, to which I replied "yes". He stated sometimes Costco does not activate it and I need to return it to Costco. Before I did that, I went to www.cpk.com and checked and the site told me $50 is loaded on the card. Don't fall for this trick to make you use a credit card. Show them ( which I will do next time) that they are lying about the card not being valid. Bread was good and warm (+)...thank goodness for that and Passionfruit Iced Tea! Server was friendly (+) but not attentive (-). Asked for more bread since food was taking a long time (-). Never got additional bread (-) and other parties seated after us got their food well before us (--)! Finally salad came...dressing tasted like water... no flavor except for burnt chicken on top!
