Dear reader, Call Your Mother in Georgetown is definitely a bit of a splurge for a bagel, but fortunately, the food is good enough to justify all day long. The Mountain View sandwich is my personal favourite and has never let me down. It's got mashed avocado, bodega-style egg, and latke. Oh my! If you've never had a latke, you've got to try it! Even the bagels on their own are excellent, particularly the sesame, which has the proper chew and flavour one hopes for. The Georgetown location is also ridiculously charming. That bright pink corner building has been something of a local photo op for years, and it is almost impossible to walk past without noticing it. It is also perfectly situated for grabbing your food and wandering around Georgetown afterward. The employees are always nice and keep things moving despite the crowds. They've got the fresh bagels, friendly service, and a semi-iconic location. Sure it gets a busy with a queue out the door, but it moves quicker than you'd think and gives you time to study the menu! I've been here a few times and it's consistently excellent. I always get the same thing (Sun City without meat) and it's fantastic. The place gets pretty crowded at times, especially on the weekends, but the line moves pretty fast and the orders come out quickly. Found this place from social media & I will say it does live up to the hype. This is a popular bagel sandwich spot. We tried a couple sandwiches, the grandezza & the big bird (w/chicken). First, we tried the big bird with the za'atar bagel, the sandwich itself was good but pretty basic toppings. The star of the show was the za'atar bagel, it was super flavorful with all the seasonings on it. Then we decided to order the grandezza with an everything bagel, this one was super delicious with a nice cheese pull & a generous amount of pesto. It's easy to spot this place as it is a pink building, but hard to find parking nearby! Ots all street parking and read the signs carefully if you're not from the area, so you don't park in a permit only parking zone. It's a very small shop so when there is 4 people in line, that 4th person is at the door. They move quickly with getting the orders taken, so that line moves quick. You do have to wait for your order and that's where it gets tricky. Not much waiting space, so you will be in very close proximity to many people, so make some friends! They also do a lot of pick up orders, so the wait be longer than it looks. I got an everything bagel with garlic herb cream cheese. Now for the best part....the bagel is sooooooo perfect! It has the chewy consistency that a bagel should have. They put just the right ratio of cream cheese to bagel. My friends and I were told that we must try Call Your Mother Deli for breakfast and I'm glad we did! Although there was a line out the door, it moved pretty quickly. This is the OG iconic location located a couple of blocks from M street. I popped in a on a busy Saturday and the line was to the door. I always get their iced matcha latte or one of the breakfast bagels. Sun city and Thunderbird and Royal palm are always a must order for me. Seating is limited here, but service is quick. However, after ordering, the food comes out pretty quickly. This time I ordered the Thunderbird bagel sandwich. I like the balance between sweet and salty. That's what I did and after less than 10 minutes, the food was ready to be picked up. It's a small shop with no indoor seating. The exterior of this place is iconic, pink, and gorgeous! So many people were taking pictures in front of it, for good reason too. I've heard people rave about Call Your Mother and how it's the iconic bagel sandwich deli chain that is the best in the DMV. I was here yesterday morning to get a bagel sandwich after a run. It was pretty packed (really small interior with bench seating by the windows) but I only waited in line for about 2-3 minutes before I got the chance to order. THE ROYAL PALM - 12 Instead of the everything bagel, I got it with the cheddar bagel since I didn't want to make a mess. I liked the cheddar bagel, but wish it was fluffier and thicker. I asked for light cream cheese, and the amount was perfect for me. The tomatoes were juicy, onions were pungent (and left an after taste in my mouth for the whole day) but added lots of oomph to the sandwich. The smoked salmon was solid. Capers were a nice cherry on top. Overall, great sandwich and the price for it was worth it. JUST COFFEE (12 OZ) - 3.25 No milk/cream or sweetener because I prefer my coffee black. But this has got to be the most burnt and bitter drip coffee I've had in a long while -- it would even shock Starbucks. With the bagel, it was bearable, but on its own, it was not good. I would not recommend. Overall, great spot for bagel sandwiches. I got a spot by the window and it was fun to people watch and zone out while enjoying my lox bagel. If you are in need of a fire bagel sandwich, this is the place to go. There is always a line (always a good sign) but it actually moves very quickly and efficiently. It is super cute inside and definitely a good place to Instagram (see picture below). My only complaint and the reason it is not 5 stars is their sausage is turkey sausage with maple which I just think is unnecessary. The blackberry latte was the best latte I had that trip - it was made with a sweet blackberry syrupy with muddled blackberries at the bottom and was just what I needed to wash down my bagel. There was a line around the block when we got there. It took us about 15 minutes to get in with their efficient service. Now, the top cover was a little complicated and that's where I struggled to drink before spilling some of it on myself. They might want to consider removing the top because the push top is a little challenging. Food: the Royal Palm was DELICIOUS! As a New Yorker, I can confirm that this place has good bagels. Now, New York will always hold top lol but, this place has soft and delicious bagels and the cream cheese and lox were the perfect compliments. Price: $21 total for the bagel and iced latte. The cost is a little much but so is everything else in DC Would I return? I gave it 5 stars and started by saying that I'm always here lol so OF COURSE! They have a loyal customer in me!
