A nice little coffee and ice cream shop in the heart of discovery bay. Its a really small place though. They only have 8 option choices to choose from. And only 1 person working here. I got their specialty iced latte. It took a ehile to be made, as she was busy with other people's ice cream orders. It actually tastes really good. Not excessively sweet. Just the right balance of sweetness and flavor. Definitely refreshing on such a hot day. We also got some of their ice creams. Its nice they let us taste them before ordering. Cuz not all places are like that anymore... their ice creams also tasted pretty good. Nice amount of sugar and flavor and creaminess. I love how this place have all these random signs hanging up. They were all unique. Extremely funny and relatable!! Some seating area inside. Our group of 12 basically took them all. But theres also about 2 tables outside as well. Solid ice cream shop. Being inside of Callahans is a pleasant experience; it has cute decorations and usually attentive staff. However, can sometimes be understaffed. Now, the quality ice cream is GREAT, it always tastes amazing. The thing with Callahans is the flavors are different every week, with the exception of chocolate and vanilla. The only complaint I have is that the flavors recently have been more and more obscure. Sometimes I just want a tried classic, like mint chip or rocky road. Maybe I just happen to have bad luck with my favorite flavors on the week I come. Nonetheless, I LOVE their toasted marshmallow ice cream and circus animal ice cream. I love the size options. I was full from lunch, so i was able to get a shortie scoop of the coffee ice cream on a wafer cone, it was smooth, creamy and had a great coffee flavor. Others in our party had butter pecan on a wafer cone, strawberry in a cup, cookies & cream in a wafer cone. Everyone enjoyed their ice cream. Prices are great! Discovery Bay's alternative to Starbucks was a great little stop on our way in to check out how summer was kicking off during Memorial Day weekend. This quaint coffee shop has decor ranging from cows and country kitsch to nautical- which may sound odd but totally nails the CA Delta vibe! They offer very decent coffee drinks and milk alternatives, as well as flavored syrups. The barista/ice cream counter attendant was polite, informative and friendly. This must be a favorite with the local residents, seasonal residents and vacationers, too. We would definitely stop in on our next trip. read more

They have a wide variety of ice cream flavors. But this trip wasn't for ice cream. This time I came for some coffee. I ordered an iced white mocha. The caffeine was nonexistent and the lack of flavor was awful. It tasted more like water. I will come back to give the ice cream a try. Maybe the ice cream will bump this place to 4 stars. read more

While we were in Discovery Bay, we stumbled upon a charming coffee shop in a quiet plaza that had lots of parking and cozy indoor seating. The place was decked out with colorful quotes and cool art, and the lady at the front was super welcoming. It's a small charming local spot. It was really disappointing to walk in. The worker seemed disinterested, just going through the motions. He even handled our cones with bare hands after looking like he had just finished cleaning up. This is one of my favorite places to go. It's within walking distance from my house.They always have different, unique, flavors that they make there in the store. I feel like the ice cream is more like Gelato because of its creamy texture and flavor. It is absolutely decadent. I've never had a bad flavor. Their sugar cookies are also made in house and taste delicious as well. I have to admit I'm a little addicted to them. As for their cones, I prefer the waffle cones but they are all tasty. I met the owner once too and he was really friendly and easy to talk to. All of the staff is friendly and accommodating. My only complaint is they get backed up easily therefore it can take a long time to get your order. The milkshakes are delicious but are painfully slow to make and if you order a shake and your friend orders a cone chances are your friend will be done with their ice cream cone before you get your milkshake. I wish they would come up with a solution for that and the slowness when busy. read more

However, I didn't delve into the reviews and thus did not realize it was mostly for the ice cream. To be fair, the ice cream had unique flavors and looked delicious. But this review was for my latte. Upon taking my first sip, I was puzzled. Wait maybe I just got the foam? Let me try again. Got a full mouthful of "latte". Nope, I was not mistaken. It really just was warm milk with the faintest hint of coffee. I took sip after sip, desperately hoping it would redeem itself. Alas, I just spent 4 dollars on an incredibly mediocre (which is a generous adjective) latte. So, this review serves as a warning to anyone to get their caffeine fix. This coffee house was not good. My wife and I came yesterday morning to try it out and we were upset. First off, there was only one person working and it looked like she didn't know what she was doing. I originally ordered their espresso but later mentions that there weren't anymore espresso beans so I had to change it to a cold brew instead. My wife orders their white mocha but the employee later mentions that because there isn't anymore espresso beans, regular coffee drip would be used instead which made it watery of course. I was disappointed because I expected this coffee shop to be fully stocked with espresso beans. The employee did give us some discount which was nice but I came here hoping they'd be prepared. She was kind and did her best. This review is strictly towards their coffee and not their ice cream, just FYI. Not sure I'll come back for their coffee. read more

Not following COVID-19 safety measures. Staff was not wearing Mask or Gloves yesterday evening while serving multiple sets of customers. Came in to support our local shop, but the lack of concern for others by not following safety protocols makes me wary to come in again especially with my children. We are doing our best as a family to remain safe and still support our community and have what fun/treats we can, this was incredibly disappointing. Update: Owner reached out immediately and said this is not within their policies, not acceptable, and an isolated incident. I have upgraded this review to 3 stars due to the swift response. This place has officially lost my business for good, which is too bad because I love their ice cream, I've just had enough bad service to continue supporting them. They were tiny little cups that my spoon was bigger than and then they had the nerve to charge me over $7 for?! My husband came here specifically for their raspberry red bull but they were out of red bulls. His back up was the piña colada ice cream which was listed on the website but also sold out. I ordered an iced almond milk latte but received an iced milk? There was virtually no espresso in the latte. I included a photo so you can see just how little espresso was in it, if there was any in there at all. Upon reading other reviews, it appears it is an ongoing issue that their coffees do not contain much coffee at all. Such a weird experience, won't be returning. read more
