My car suddenly sounded like it had an exhaust leak, so I took it into a different shop where they discovered my midpipe broke right where it connects at the rear. Their quote to fix it was out of my price range, so I called Callahan's for a quote. Whoever I spoke to was kind and professional, but the best part is that Callahan's quote was 10x less than the first shop I went to. I brought my car in on a Saturday and was told it would be ready on Monday. They called a few hours after I dropped it off to let me know it was ready to be picked up! I'm so happy with how quickly they got it done. Their honest assessment, fair pricing, and quality work are worthy of more than 5 stars in my opinion. Don't go here if you care about your vehicle. This place is too busy to actually understand your request and fulfill it. I brought them an excellent-condition used catalytic converter pulled from a 2003 mustang, and they cut the flanges and welded it without contacting me. Effectively destroying a $800 part for future use. They also returned by Bassani X-Pipe, another $800 part dented and scratched with chopped exhaust components stacked on top of it in my trunk after they told me it would not fit. I had to drive an additional $500 BBK X-Pipe to them. I was under the impression only the BBK X-Pipe was to be cut. False. They completely rigged the whole exhaust system up with some of the most slung welds you could imagine. They didn't even bother to ream the exhaust pipe after cutting, as you can visibly see metal shavings sticking out of the welds. The end result was a crooked tailpipe and an exhaust that sounds like absolute garbage due to them not properly installed. The resonators are both crooked, bent to different angles, and rub on the suspension when the car bottoms out. Lets talk about the owner and how he quoted me over the phone $150-200, and then calls me up as they've already got my car on the hoist with everything apart that it's gonna be $300 and he can "make my dreams come true". Well Rick, you didn't make my dreams come true you destroyed my car. $300 for 3 hours of labor installing 100% customer-supplied parts. (which they destroyed) If you value your car like I do, either do the work yourself or do the proper research and find someone reputable. I knew I should have gone to a performance shop. read more

This shop has been in Pontiac for many years and the front desk has stayed the same for many years with customer service.Biggest rip off today messing with this place biggest regret this year.This owner really had an issue with the tow I'd selected and refused to assist or even tell me where it was best to place my vehicle.Annoyance and all bad vibes.The driver noticed of the tow the treatment and I guess I'm late to find out the true history of this owner.I was quoted 350 for an install of my rackenpinion he mentioned he couldn't give a warranty on it then.And that left me feeling he was gonna suggest I'd purchased the wrong part.And he called and said just that.the one I had was refurbished and he used the tie rods that came with my rackenpinion our the box in the back seat so with the incomplete set i couldn't get my refund of 178 from eBay.Upon recipet of my vehicle the price had went up to 800 100extra for the sway bar kit was understandable even though I'd had it out already sitting at home the old one. She filled out my form and since I didnt know what was really wrong with the ride so they said they would look at it. Anyway it was my first time here my husband's friends suggested I come here for engine work. I arrived at 7:30am initially and he already had a line up of folks waiting to be helped. But my suv got helped around 4:30 and they called me to pick up my ride around 5:40pm. Fast work! They also have a driver that can drop you wherever you need to go I was dropped off at work. This was my first experience here and my car needed outer tie-rods and an alignment. I worked with Lisa (great lady) the front desk associate and she told me that they would try to do everything that day, however the alignment might have to be another day since they were so busy. This place works on a first come first serve basis, so she set my expectation that i might need to come back (closed @3 on Sat). Well, with an hour before they closed I got a call that my car was finished with everything. I was ecstatic!! They were upfront with everything and did a great job for a very reasonable price. Took my car to them to have the muffler fixed. Dropped my car off around 11:00, they told me there was 3 cars ahead of me and it would be ready between 3 and 4. When I went to pick up my car at 3:30 it hadn't been seen yet. They said theres 2 in front of you but we'll move you up and get it in next That was at 3:30. At 5:00 as I was sitting in the waiting room they still hadn't got to my car. Employees would look at my paperwork and just walk on. Finally at about 5:30 I asked for my keys and left. HANDS DOWN THE BEST! Do not go anywhere else for your exhaust service. As a female, who has a general knowledge of auto mechanics, I received quotes from every auto shop in the area up to $1400.00. Yes $1400. Obviously these shops prey on people, male or female, who do not know any better. Callahan's did not. They took care of the issue professionally and quickly for $120.00. They were very busy and told me that it would be several hours before they could even look at my car. I could have gone somewhere else but l sure am happy that I didn't. I called Callahan's due to their good reviews and let me tell you, I will be telling all of my friends about this experience. I dropped my 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee off at Callahan's and it was done the same day. I had brakes, rotors, and my muffler done amongst other things. My total was $800 and all of the work had a warranty. When I arrived to pick up my jeep, the owner told me that my left trailing arm needed to be repaired but he didn't do that type of work so he sent me to Clyde's in Pontiac. They quoted me $2100 to have it done so I instantly broke down in tears. I am a college student and can't afford that, let alone purchasing a new car which I would have to do as soon as I lit my jeep on fire out of frustration. My fiancé called Callahan's and talked to the owner explaining how expensive the job was and that had we known about how large of a job it was prior to putting $800 into the jeep, we never would have had it repaired. So being the awesome man the owner is, he says he wants us to bring it back. What needs to be done isn't their specialty but he has some really great welders in his staff. We dropped it off yesterday and said the welder would be in today to fix it. We got the call saying it is all done and ready to be picked up. When asked how much it would be, they said no charge, just leave a review for us. I cannot express how grateful I am that this shop took such great care of my jeep. I first spoke to Rick and he gave me an estimated price over the phone that I expected to go up once he saw the vehicle. Not only did he keep the price to what he indicated over the phone, but that price was 4 times lower than the other shops I received quotes from. I have not been to Callahans in almost a year but it seems that their inferior knowledge of mechanics is still affecting me to this day. I took my truck to a SAE certified mechanic to get work done. I was told that I needed an exhaust manifold that Callahans had replaced for me a year prior! He also told me that the one that was currently on there was a substandard part that I paid top of the line price for! If anyone needs work done on a car I would not recommend this establishment. I'm just trying to be helpful and protect some poor inncocent soul from becoming a victim of these slimeballs. Try to find somewhere else. Why would a car repair shop remove someone's vehicle equipment without notifying them? To drum up repeat business. Oldest trick in the book. These Toyota's are bullet proof though. Super friendly when I dropped it off and they got it done the same day! I also mentioned my rear brakes were making a little noise, they said they would take a look at that too. When I got the car back, they only needed to adjust the rear brakes. They didn't charge anything to check them or adjust them! This is a old school shop and they treat you great! I experienced the worse customer service ever! They were completely rude and belligerent towards me for no apparent reason. I came in for front brake and rotor repair at 9am. I was told it would take them 2-3 hours to look at my car but it took them 8 hours total to tell me what was wrong. I received a phone call at 5pm (their shop closes at 6pm) and was rushed to get my parts (I had warranty for) and bring them so they could repair within that hour before closing. I informed them that I did not live close. They told me I was a waste of their time and made them miss out on money due to them informing me about the parts that I needed at the last minute! He told me I could take my car and I drove home on bad brakes and rotors that could've went out at any given time. They did not care about my safety and I was not serviced due to their rude attitudes. My feelings were crushed and I felt belittled. I have been too Callahan's on two occasions for exhaust work. They pull business from a big area and are off I-75, south of the Palace, in Auburn Hills. They do good work, estimates are accurate, and they are not relatively expensive. I got three estimates and they were in the middle. But this is a large shop with every conceiveable tool and machine. They can deal with almost anything. If you don't have a good shop to do exhaust work I would give them a try. read more

Since so many people want to go out of their way writing negative reviews, here is a positive! My '07 Cobalt had a blown exhaust flex section and the sound was driving my wife nuts. Also needed a new intermediate steering shaft. I'm a cheap Pollock by nature and found the parts I needed on my own, and then found Callahan's to do the install. I dropped my car off late Saturday and after one business day the car was done and it was only $300 out the door. Very reasonable price and how can anyone say Rick is unfriendly?! It was too good to be true because they exceeded our expectations. Driving in from Ontario where the ability for a woman to get a fair deal from a mechanic is impossible, we were somewhat optimistic to try our luck in Michigan. We got lost and by the time we found them they were booked for the day but out of nowhere a customer offers us his appointment. We were there for brakes and when the service man came over to show me the wear on my brakes I just about fainted because that has never happened. NEver! The brakes were replaced for a very affordable price. As I was there for with my kids, they gave me there loaner car so I could go get lunch. By the time we came back, the car was ready.
