Love the food here. Everything in the menu is good and very reasonably priced. You get a lot of food for what you pay. It can be very busy at times tho so you have to watch what time you are going or service is rather slow. Every time I'm in Elkhart I look forward to visiting this place. read more

The hostess was rushed, rough and rude. She barked out that it would be a 1/2hr wait to be seated. As we decided if we were staying she yelled over only 10 minutes. We stayed.....our waitress was very busy and tried to rush our group of 7 to take our drink order. They have a horrible beer selection I opted for water. As we settled into our seats she decided to forget our table and move on... We waited 20 minutes ( no exaggeration) she took our order then we waited another 20 mins before she came and told my sister in law they did not have spinach pie she ordered. The waitress rushed her to choose something. Then we waited another 20 minutes for all of our food. When we were seated we asked for bread. It came out 1 hour after we asked when we were do womith our food. My sister has a beer and had to wait 10 mins after finishing the 1st and asking for a second. The food was ok typical diner food, typical diner price. I can honestly say this was the worst resturant service I have had in decades. read more

I have only been here twice in the 6 years that I have lived here in Elkhart, Indiana and both times, their food has been wonderful. I usually decide on one of their skillet breakfasts and I have never finished a full skillet. Not even once. Their food is cooked very well and their wait staff are quick and reliable. They fill your drinks pretty quickly and the seating in the building is very comfortable and roomy. I usually get in pretty quickly if they aren't very busy. read more

Chicken picatta.... not a hard recipe.... if your cooks are not sure Google it. Bad experience. One of our friends ordered toast with extra butter..... the cooks sent out a chunk of butter at least an inch thick between the toast.... order was sent back along with the imatation chicken picatta. Over priced for eggs bacon and toast being around 14 bucks. Sad.... really liked this place but service and cook performance leaves a lot to be desired. Your waitress shouldn't be coming out in tears bad enough that on of our group felt the need to give the poor girl a hug.... defiantly need to look into your management who allow this kind of thing to happen. read more

Good amount of food for their prices. Taste and quality of food is good also. Can be packed at times due to high popularity. Parking lot can be hard to get into at times depending on traffic. I would highly recommend this place for the quality and value. read more

We stopped on our way to Chicago in the late morning, and enjoyed it so much we stopped again on our way back for a late lunch. This is a perfect example of a homey family restaurant - the food is really well prepared and there's a wide variety with a Greek influence and lots of good bakery items as well. They have a number of different 'skillets' which are wonderful combinations. My wife (l/o vegetarian) ordered a spinach and feta omelet which she loved and said the home fries are the best she's ever had. Lunch the next day was every bit as good. We had a flaming Zaganaki appetizer, I had grilled pork chops, and we sampled a few other things. Everything was delicious, and if I lived near this restaurant I'd be there all the time. Both times our bill was less than $25 and worth every penny. And I'd be remiss not to mention our server, Melody. Delightful and always there just before you knew you needed something. Add that it is the easiest restaurant to get to if you're traveling on I-90 and it's a wonder the chain restaurants that try to imitate places like this don't just pack up and quit. read more

I ordered Greek salad with gyros on top, and my husband ordered a gyros (sandwich). My salad arrived with little dried up squares of gyros. What my husband got looked suspiciously as if the gyros had been sliced in rounds like cold cuts, and came with a small amount of tomato and onion slices and pita bread. We asked the waitress if the gyros had been cooked on a vertical rotisserie (as it should be of course). She replied the kitchen did not have that. She returned to our table shortly after that to say she was told the gyros comes to them pre-cooked and they slice it. The food was not good. Additionally the restaurant was very noisy and the tables so close together the people next to me commented on the size of my salad. read more

I came to this restaurant for years, it use to be the local hang out in high school and even after graduation and was always a favorite for everyone. I moved away and stopped going for almost 2 years and today me and my husband finally went back there and I was in shock. First the waitress was very horrible, poor service and it was not packed. After ordering I had to wait a good amount of time just for a coffee refill or maybe that was their way of distracting me from my order taking so long as well. I think a half hour to 45 minutes is a bit too long to wait on a simple order. Finally when we got our food the portion and quality of food had dropped majorly, heck I never knew someone could mess up pancakes as bad as they did. I am very disappointed that this restaurant went downhill, I had some amazing memories that happened there and I miss how their food use to be. read more

I ate breakfast on a Sunday morning while driving 80/90 on a road trip. Eggs and pancakes were great. They double your eggs. If the menu says 2 eggs, they give you 4. As a customer of Callahan,s since BEFORE it was Callahan's, I feel obligated to express my deep disappointment in the service- and response of manager named Becka today. Approx. 40 family members went to Callahan's today after a funeral to decompress and break bread. Although our waitress did EVERYTHING in her power to make it a pleasant experience, the service was shameful. 10 people at 1 table had a lapse of approx. 45 min between our first meal and delivery of my daughters salad (an appetizer). When her Chicken Parmesan/Spaghetti dinner - which she orders EVERY WEEK - it was over 50 min later than the first meal - AT OUR TABLE - and appeared to have been under a heat lite so long it was not appealing in the least. When I attempted to explain to Becka I found the entire experience EXTREMELY discouraging, she proceeded to blame it on "us " MAKING GOOD SERVICE TOO HARD TO PROVIDE BECAUSE WE DID NOT call ahead. This restaurant seats 4 to 5 times the people our party contained. She expressed disdain for my family expecting quality service from a long standing service based business. I hope the management will recognize the need to retrain- or replace this manager with a person who takes pride in providing quality service that a customer is willing to pay for. read more
