Charged us for a day that we are unable to come and pick up the car. Legally should not be able to charge for that day when they are closed, but what are you gonna do go to court over 100-200 bucks. I was stranded for 4 hours waiting in the middle of an intersection! AAA contacted Cals initially but was currently en route on another call so AAA contracted another company. After 4 hours waiting on another company and my 20 calls to AAA, they contacted Cals again. Once "Julian" got their call, he said to AAA, "he's still there?" To Julians disbelief that I was still in an intersection, he dropped what he was doing and told AAA that he was heading to my location right now. Julian arrived in 15 minutes. He was professional, knowledgeable, very personable, and extremely quick. I honestly believe that had Julian not been driving that night, I would still be in the intersection. 1st negative experience I had using my AAA membership because of this tow company. Driver showed up like he didn't want to be there and made the excuse my van was "to heavy for his 17,000 pound flatbed tow truck" I showed him my GVWR and payload sticker on driver side door jam but he wasn't aware of how to read those numbers. My van weighs 5200 lb. and it was completely empty. I've had the same van towed three other times all using AAA with different tow companies with no excuses because weight is not an issue on this vehicle. I have a full-size Ram 1500 that weighs 5900 lb so weighs more than this van although he said he tow's full size pick up's all the time! Long story short called AAA back they sent E&C Towing showed up towed me 10 miles back home and all is good.! P.S. funny thing is Cals Towing has a 7000 pound Ford Excursion image on their review page so they towed a vehicle 2000 pounds heavier than my van! must have been a different driver that knew what he was doing. read more

I was visiting from out-of town and we attended the Yucaipa Rodeo that evening. The road was closed and there was minimal street parking available. I noticed a couple of cars parked in their parking lot and assumed they were closed for the night and I'd be safe to park my vehicle there in the parking lot. I came out at the end of the night to luckily find my car where I'd left it, with this little note on my window. The other cars apparently belonged to employees or another approved organization. Had they wanted to be Jerks, they could have easily towed my car. But instead chose to do the heartfelt thing and just asked not to park there again. One wheel stuck in mud and wanted to charge me $300 to pull me out, possibly even more. This was a 10pm call, a baby in the car and with temperatures having dropped to 28. We were told they would arrive by 11:04 - minutes to 11 we had received no update and we put another call in to AAA and told a tow service would arrive by 11:50pm. Cal's towing called me immediately after the AAA call and they weren't even on the way from the first request. It appears as if they more concerned about the cost and trying to find the best way to take advantage of the situation. Heartless individuals not worried about anyone's safety but rather more concerned about the extra $$$$ in their pockets. What a shame! read more

My daughter had an accident in the mountains during the last snow. We had AAA coverage. Tow driver said that AAA would not cover the tow if my daughter didn't have chains in the car as it was part of their policy. I couldn't afford the tow otherwise and denied the tow so I had to drive the car home in an unsafe condition. I called AAA they said that they would have never denied the tow and have no rule concerning chains. I hate being lied to. If I'd gotten in a wreck they'd have a major lawsuit on their hands. They don't make much money doing AAA, but still to leave someone stranded and put in danger based on an outright lie gives them less than a one star review. read more

My driver got into a car wreck this past Friday on our way down from Bear Mountain (there were four of us in the pickup truck). We used AAA, and Cal's Towing took the job. It was near white-out conditions, and the tow truck made it in about 1.5 hours, which is amazing considering where we were and the conditions of the road. The front bumper of our truck had been smashed in, shredding the front left tire. The tow truck driver (the owner's son!) put the 4 of us in his truck, and on the way down he called Enterprise-Rent-A-Car, because they know Cal's company, and that's where Cal's refers people that need rental cars. The lady at Enterprise told the tow truck driver she had a car waiting for us if we could get there before 6pm. We got there at 5:50pm... but no car was waiting :( Check my review of Yucaipa's Enterprise for that part of the story. Two of us stayed at Enterprise to haggle, and the other two went with the tow truck driver who offered to fix the car, because his dad owned a repair shop too. The tow truck driver used winches to pull away the metal, and put our spare tire on. We gave him $40 and drove back to San Diego. How lucky did we get? Cal's Towing... we owe you one... big time! read more

My boyfriend's tire came off on the road on 5th Place and Avenue G in Yucaipa on Tuesday of this week. We called Cal's Towing and the driver Matt came to help us. My boyfriend and Matt noticed a bolt was missing so Matt walked in the middle of the street with my boyfriend, with the crazy drivers, to look for the bolt. These guys are total scammers and do not know what they're doing! They came out to assist me with my car and the driver named Andrew claimed he had "7" years of experience and knew what he was doing, he then goes to pull from the control arms and breaks my control arm! He knew right away he was going to be in trouble so he stops what's he doing unhooks the car and takes off WITHOUT telling us ANYTHING! I have video of the whole process and the damage happening so I call the office and they said they're not taking liability for what they're driver did!
