We've visited Camacho Garage several times over the years, most recently to celebrate my parents' anniversary. The food was all delicious, especially the queso. Our waiter was good, but didn't write anything down and forgot our side order of plantains, which he did realize himself and got it for us, and my mom never got her side of guac. One of the bartenders remembered my mom from her visit last week and brought over a round of champagne to celebrate their anniversary, which was so sweet of him! A solid choice for Mexican in New Haven.

This place was TOOOOO good. My friend and I tried it for the first time after living in Westville for two years!!! Our bill was high as hell but that's our fault bc we basically ordered the menu. Service was great and the place is so cute. Attached is a photo of me effing up a taco it was TOO GOOD

Cool place. Reminds me of a place called Burrito Haus in Nogales Mexico that was actually a garage once. Great old rusty signs and high tops similar to car lifts. Excellent lunch specials. Mostly tacos but with high end ingredients. I had the mix and match 3 tacos, carnitas, pollo asada and veggies. Husband had the soup and taco combo with pulpos (octopus) and sausage. He also got the Camacho Garage Lager. I particularly enjoyed the salsa verde. Our waiter was the bartender and he was very friendly and knowledgeable. The high top was a bit difficult for my short fat legs but I managed it. They also have regular tables. Highly recommended for their lunch specials. Very inexpensive.

The food was AMAZING! Not all pictured but we especially loved the Mexican hot dog, pozole verde, queso fundido and hibiscus agua Fresca!!! My step dad got the chicharon quesadilla which he loved. It is cute and vibey. Our server was kind and honest :)

Place has great ambiance! The food is excellent, though arguably on the expensive side. Just for reference, the Mexican Torta here was on the Brunch Menu for $19. I did also get to try my wife's chilaquiles which were also pretty good. Parking is a bit of a challenge unless you're parking on the street. So while I can't give it a perfect score, it is well worth checking out! Edit: adjusting to 3 stars. $9 for a sparkling water?

Wow, I Don't know why I took so long to try this place out. I've been following this chef since he first opened his restaurant Roomba in New Haven. It was the first time I tried a Mexican torta and it won't be the last. Don't skip out on their queso fun detail. It's probably the best I've ever had loaded with mushrooms strips of poblano pepper and chorizo. Absolutely delicious!. Pork belly tacos was a solid choice as well. I can't wait to back for Happy Hour.

Very nice indoor/outdoor restaurant with tasty tacos and an excellent spicy margarita. We had the Carne Arrechera with their spiciest sauce. The flavors were fresh, and the blue tortillas delicious. The prices are pretty high for the size of the tacos. Johnny had the gringo taco and a pocho asada taco (chicken). All were good but the Arrechera were by far the best. The atmosphere is comfy and service pretty decent. We will be back

The ambiance and servers were great. We had a party of 12 and everyone raved about the food. My friend and I got the family style tacos and we unfortunately were the only ones dissatisfied with our meal. We got the chicken and pastor tacos. The chicken was dry and the el pastor did not have pineapple. The server just brought us a small dish of pineapples to resolve the issue. Overall had a great time, but wish we enjoyed our meal as much as everyone else!

This place isn't far from where I am staying, so I've frequented here a few times. The quality of ingredients is top notch, and their drink selections are both wide and strong. My go-to is the octupus and shrimp ceviche - fresh, acidic, and flavorful. Octupus and chorizo tacos are another one of my favorites. As a side, I'd reach for the street corn off the cob every time. Two issues I've had are when it comes to choozing tacos and cost. You can mix and match the basic tacos, but when it comes to the special tacos, you get two and can not mix and match. Then the cost is something to consider. It was almost enough to give this place 4 stars, but the quality won out.

It's a yes for me. Four stars. Love the decor. Bartenders were friendly and talkative. The food was delicious. Portions are modest, not big. Everything very vibrant. All the elements of a new favorite place!

Great atmosphere, good tacos, and a great price! We had about 20 people with 2 tables of 10. Our group flew in for a local event and met here for lunch. People from Texas, New Mexico, Louisiana, New York, Arizona, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. The employees at the restaurant were friendly and accommodating. Thank you for a fun experience!

Long standing Camacho fan. Always enjoy the people, ambiance is always on point. Last dining experience was not so great. Ordered the birria tacos, chicken quesadilla and the queso fundido. The queso was delicious, hot, flavorful and well Prepared. The chicken in the quesadilla was dry, cold and hard to eat. My birria had a warm taco and cold meat. Margarita was delicious. Moving forward this will be more of a happy hour spot for me and no longer for dinner and special occasions.

I've been wanting to try Manjares for drinks and a bite since I already know how good their baked goods are for breakfast. Tonight was our chance despite traffic jams on the Parkway and snow drifts that makes parking everywhere in New Haven a treasure hunt. Decor is beautiful, ambiance is chill and relaxing. Very reminiscent of Olea without the downtown hustle and bustle. Menu is small yet carefully curated with something for everyone. We came specifically for potatoes bravas, one of our favorites. Saw it on the menu online but was told it was no longer available. Our server, Tabitha, suggested some Yucca fries which was not on the menu but she made a request to the kitchen for us. They were delicious and honestly if they were in the menu we would've ordered that as well. Fried calamari was seasoned and fried to absolutely tender perfection. The coating was light and crispy. My wife loved the aioli and picked onion combo on it. I preferred the lemon. Both of us decided to get a pasta course, bolognese and carbonara. For a non-Italian place to cook both of these dishes with such perfection blew us away. Flavorful bolognese that wasn't drenched in tomato sauce coated the al dente rigatoni perfectly. The carbonara was rich and savory with a little pepper accented by the guanciale. My wife had issues finishing ir and I suggested taking it home. She then finished it out of spite I believe. For $25 each, the pasta dishes were both satisfying without making you feel so full and bloated that you needed a wheelbarrow to get you back to the car. Plenty of food for even the biggest eater. Well worth the money. The attention to depth of flavors was evident. These were not some thrown together pasta dishes. Our compliments to the chef. Tabitha was great. Her cocktails were fantastic. She was attentive without being intrusive and has a great sense of humor. We are definitely coming back.

He and his lovely wife Ana have created a little haven in the neighborhood. And our server Tabitha took such good care of us to top it all off! A great start to the weekend.

When the food finally arrived, the quality was unacceptable. The jerk chicken was raw, which is a serious food safety concern, and the rice and beans were undercooked. The storys are a bit contrived for a neighborhood that unfortunately cares little for it, as i've seen. Again alot of things on menu were out of stock. I came to New Haven for a show down the block and strangely I was lured into something that was proposed as an extension of NYC however that it was not. Lastly, I get the concept but at certain hours the same Islander vibe gets pretty Banal after the 5/6 song that sounds like that last 5/6 songs.

I landed on a mocktail old fashion, my friend got the bee's knees and we got the big pretzel and the candied bacon. As for the drinks, they had sake and whiskey, but no umeshu (plum wine), which was a bit disappointing. It's a common Japanese drink and is even used in some of the cocktails on the menu. When we inquired, the server said the cocktails are pre-mixed so they don't have it, which seemed odd for a cocktail bar. The server didn't even seem to know what umeshu was, because she suggested looking at their other wines, when umeshu isn't even a wine. It's just translated to plum wine in English, but it's a liquor made from Japanese plums. For food, we ordered: - shishito peppers - wagyu uni & toast - tempura fish & chips The wagyu uni & toast and fish & chips came out first, together. The view from the deck was also excellent, and the cocktails themselves were delicious. A lot of the appetizers were very good. The tuna tartare and the mussel curry were both inspired dishes; the mussels in the sauce had great flavor, though the portion sizes overall felt small. The blistered snap peas with preserved lemon were also delicious. That said, for a place with "oyster" in the name, we expected a wider or higher-quality selection, perhaps including some from Canada, rather than the fairly standard options from CT and MA. Unfortunately, the main dishes missed the mark for us and didn't offer enough food. The sea bass was overcooked. the accompanying lima beans weren't cooked all the way through, and the dish lacked depth of flavor. The shrimp main also fell short, with the shrimp having a very odd, mushy bland flavor. To finish, the pot de crème had so much cream and so little actual chocolate that there was almost no chocolate flavor. On a separate note, navigating the QR code menu was pretty obnoxious. Restaurants should really just offer traditional paper menus; people stare at screens all day and come out to engage with each other, not look at a phone again, and constantly have it on the table. While I appreciate Fair Haven Oyster's creative concepts, their tinned fish with pickled sides, and their great starters, the execution on the mains and the portion sizes left something to be desired, especially at these price points. This was probably our sixth time going to Fairhaven Oyster. We've been going over the past few years and my overall takeaway is that I will definitely return for the drinks, the great atmosphere, and some appetizers, but will not be ordering mains.
