I come here multiple times a week for private lessons. Its great!…read more Its pretty easy to find located in a business park in Carlsbad. They have their own parking lot so should be easy to locat and park. The staff at the front desk is awesome and knowledgeable. The private coaches are well trained and super knowledgeable. We work with miss Collene and I can't say enough good things about here. CHECK THE SCHEDULE BEFORE YOU GO! They only have free skate for a few hours a day so do make sure to check the schedule before you go. This location also runs camps and other child friendly activities. So definitely something to look into. The facilities are always clean and well taken care of. Their are many bathrooms and even a warm room. Basically, ice Town is where its at! I would definitely suggest checking it out if you haven't already.

Recently, I saw a video circulating online involving Ice Realm Carlsbad, and I was honestly taken…read moreaback by how the situation appeared to be handled. From what was shown, a guest simply asked whether they could bring a dog into the facility for ice skating. The dog was never brought inside, yet management allegedly escalated the interaction to the point of calling the police. Customer service is about communication, professionalism, and de-escalation. Situations like this should be handled calmly and respectfully, especially when they begin as a simple question. Calling law enforcement over what appears to have been a misunderstanding sends the wrong message and reflects poorly on management. I hope Ice Realm Carlsbad takes this as an opportunity to review how customer concerns are handled and provides additional training on conflict resolution and de-escalation. Guests deserve to feel respected, even when the answer to their question is simply "no."

I never learned to skate as a child. I went to Skateworld with friends about seven years ago, but…read morenever continued to practice. Recently, two of my friends found out that I wanted to learn, so we all went out on a Sunday evening. Sundays, Skateworld closes at 8:30. We arrived at 6:30 which gave us plenty of time. Open skate and skate rental costs $25 per person. It felt a bit steep to me, but I realize that they don't make money on much else so it's really not bad. They offer lockers at a price. There is free filtered water. It was a bit odd when my friends brought me a gift bag with knee pads, that they said no gift bags of any kind were allowed. It seemed odd as I thought children had roller skating birthday parties at places like this. At least they let us take out the knee pads and carry in the empty bag. Anyway, the space wasn't too crowded on Sunday, so it was easy to practice. I also rented one of those little wheeled walkers so I didn't fall all over the place. I was a bit bummed to learn that they didn't offer lessons, outside of their monthly "academy". I would have loved to drop in for a single session. All in all, it was a pretty good time. I would return to skate again.

Yes, they play the music quietly and the lights are kept on, but there's so many screaming children with Skate Mates going in all directions that it gets overwhelming. I know they have a similar lunch skate times that are adult only at 10am-noon, but that's during the work day.

Further information is available on their web & media sites. It's free so bring your own skates and protective gear. No rentals. Fun people with all sort of levels show up. You can blade or roller skate on the outdoor hockey rink. They play fun music and even do routine type dances that you can join in on too. Really fun! You just have to check their Instagram page to make sure it hasn't been canceled due to weather or other conflicts (oceanside_rollerskating). But they're there pretty much every Friday night from 6-8pm which makes for an awesome night as it's usually during the sunset, and then after the sunset they showcase their super fun rink lights and people wear glow in the dark wheels and it's just really fun! They also usually host "Sunday Roll-Outs" every Sunday morning down at the Oceanside Strand, meeting up under the pier, near and/or at the amphitheater, from around 10am - 2pm. Then, at some point during that time, they all roller skate together down the entire south end of the Strand, which is seriously EPIC! That's also advertised on their Instagram page, so double check that before heading out. They always play great music and everyone is so welcoming even to the newest skaters. They always help new people learn some basics, too! I've met so many nice people through them, and have even made a few really good friends through Oceanside Rollerskating, so I'm very grateful to the people who have organized this.
