chicken and rice

Haven't been here in at least a year- because unfortunately south side has become unsafe at night. But I used to love this after a night of drinking or just a late night craving. Soo good, so much better than just grabbing any old chinese food or anything similar. The food is great! They stay open crazy hours and sell the food outside sometimes. Big variety and really affordable. I like the chicken, rice, lo mein noodles, crab rangoons, etc. This is a true mom n pop shop- the couple who owns this restaurant is so kind!

Man o man, this has been my best meal all weekend since Visiting Pittsburgh! So glad I listened to the reviews. Fresh, flavorful, and an outright GEM!! I am savoring every bite! 10/10!!

Look closely... This is the bottom of my bag after I drove my 2 entrees home. Thank god the bag didn't have any holes!

Ordered pickup yesterday. Called it in at 5:55 and was told it would be 15 minutes. I arrived at 6:15 and stepped up to pay. Then waited, and waited, and waited... It seemed like they don't start actually cooking your food till you get there and pay. There was a couple there that ordered at the window, after me, and received their food over 10 minutes before mine was ready. Then once my food was ready, they hand it to me in a bag that thank god, didn't have a hole in it, because the lo neon sauce was spilled all through out the bag. The food was good, but service & prep was seriously lacking...

Finish eating the omg what?

You have a great body, but is it worthy of a Webcam? If so, you have a "Cambod." If you're wondering who can hook you up with a Webcam, well... "Ican." What to get: Whatever you fancy. What else to get: Whoever you fancy. Located on E Carson St, the nightlife mecca of Western PA, and the street with the prettiest and bareliest-dressed boys... I mean girls... perhaps anywhere outside Florida and California. And I think the food is actually really good. I have heard from a number of people that this place really sucks. I'm not Cambodian so I don't know what it's supposed to taste like over in Phnom Penh, but I have to say that I found the food to be really good. It's a little pricy but then what else is available at 1 in the morning? There's a reason why there's such a long line here. There's a couple of good Gyros around here (cough Mike & Tony's cough), but if you don't feel like a Gyro, then why not come and try some of this excellent curry-ish deliciousness. The really funny thing about this place is the bathroom. You need a key for it which they will gladly give you - but it's attached to what basically is a lamp post. So you have to drag the lamp-post with you to the bathroom... it's hilarious. So why do people diss it? Not sure what the problem is really. I know what my problem is though. I'm attracted to cooking pots. I mean, I'm Pansexual.

Steamed rice noodles. Reminds me of the viet vermicelli bowl "bun".

Please yelp, let me give them more stars. After Acacia closed, my friend and I were craving food, specifically Asian food. In Pittsburgh, this is tough at 2 am. Luckily, we stumbled across this gem. Since it was late, we had to order at the window, but the employee was so friendly and funny that he left a good indication on how their overall service was. We ended up getting the crab fried rice and the Cambod-Ican beef stew. As an Asian, I was skeptical of the fried rice, but boy am I glad we got it. They used real crab, not imitation crab, and the taste of crab even carried into the rice itself. Mm. As for the beef stew, the first bite was heaven and it wasn't just because I was starving and had a slight amount of liver poison in my system. Just a warning though, it's rather rowdy and we had a few people approach us. Slightly uncomfortable, but expected since it is late night South Side. Overall, good prices and spot on food. 20/10 would go back... but probably during daytime hours.

First timer to Combod-Ican and was impressed. Lots of take out foot traffic so we were able to get a table. I ordered the Cambo combo ( pic shown) which came with two seafood wontons (omg so good). The moon sauce is yummy - the chicken was tender... very good first impression. Would def come back. Only nitpick.... walls need cleaned a bit...

We had a horrible culinary experience the past couple of days driving through West Virginia, Ohio, and western New York. Pittsburgh was our last stop before heading home and Kiin Lao and Thai Eatery made up for all of the culinary disappointment this weekend. Let's talk about the ambiance first. Everything about this restaurant was quite beautiful. When I say beautiful, I don't mean it in an elegant way, but an artsy street vibe way. It is hip, clean, and we'll put together. You can tell a lot of love went into the decorations and into every piece of art on its walls. The service was pretty good. The server herself was attentive when needed and left us alone when needed. The food was AWESOME. We got the papaya combo with the Thum Mak Houng option, curry puffs, grilled pork shoulder with sticky rice, and Pad Gra Prow Street Style. The papaya was "lao-style" made with fermented shrimp paste. If you love deep umami flavors, this is it for you. The papaya salad was pungent and sour and savory spicy and just so satisfying. We asked for a 6/10 spiciness and they came with the heat. The chicken skewers that came with it was flavorful too. A little bit of char on the chicken would've brought it over the top. The curry puffs were so comforting and had that south Asian flavor profile that was very welcomed. The curry and spice blend did not overwhelm the potatoes. Instead it enhanced the earthy potato flavors in the best way possible. The menu said that it came with a cucumber sauce but I don't think we got that. What we got was a more like a honey sauce. The sauce was good in itself but didn't pair well with the puffs. The grilled pork shoulder was delectable. The meat was tender and it was seasoned perfectly. Again, more char on the meat would've brought it to a new level. The only gripe I have with this order was the sticky rice. The amount of sticky rice you get with it was so small I thought it was a joke initially. Nope, it was not! I thought the Pad Gra Prow Street Style was OKAY. I would've made it a little saucier. Despite this, my significant other absolutely LOVED it. Pad Gra Prow was my significant other's favorite dish when she lived overseas. She said that this was the best Pad Gra Prow she has had on this side of the world. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. We would definitely come by again when we are back this way.

Overall, the food and service was good. We had red curry, massaman curry, and pad kee mao. I think the red curry was pretty good. We order spice level 7 and probably could have gotten the 8. I'd go for 8 if I ever visit them again. Yeah, it was just a good and decent meal with good service and all. Not very crowded, so I urge people to go if you are in the area.
