Sadly our favorite spot has fallen. I don't understand. They're closed every Sunday. How could it get so dirty. How are there full grown fruitflies on the winter solstice? The chicken in the fried rice was old and rubbery. The Gen Tsos, while extra crisp, was bland. My mistake for not noticing or asking but it came with zero vegetables, apart from green onion. Whereas the rest of the menu I've tried was vegetable rich. The dining room is gross, the art hasn't been dusted, the table cloths have not been washed in a long time. We came for dinner while staying in town for a convention and it was pretty good. I wasn't starving so I ordered a couple appetizers; the beef short ribs and the rice cakes with peanut curry (I can't remember the actual names of the dishes, sorry!) The beef ribs were similar to a Korean galbi but slightly different flavor profile. They were good, not a ton of meat, but tasty. The rice puffs were very filling and I loved the sauce; if anything, I would actually prefer to get that sauce as a bigger curry to go with regular rice or noodles. This Cambodian place has been serving up Thai & Cambodian food for two decades. The servers are very nice and patient. We weren't hurried along over the two plus hours we were there. And we enjoyed our BYOB wine without corkage fees. The Spring Roll was fresh however lacked much shrimp and basil which was similar to the other dishes we tried - low on protein. Granted, many Asian foods use protein as a flavor enhancer rather than a prime component but these dishes really need one more handful of protein to really make them shine. The Fried Calamari was dredged in a heavier lemon pepper type breading and was likely frozen product and the dipping sauce was nice. Our mains included Japanese eggplant chicken, seafood combo, and green curry noodle chicken that came with super sweet curry sauce that overpowered everything and limp vermicelli noodles with tons of green and red peppers and very little mushroom, cabbage or chicken. The Japanese eggplant chicken was not overly flavorful and included red and green peppers. The seafood combo included shrimp and mussels out of their shell which likely means they were frozen. My husband and I absolutely love Angkor. We used to live very close to it and got takeout there almost every week. The red thai curry noodles and the saramann are to die for! The saramann is a rich beef stew curry with peanuts and I believe it is served with rice. All of the curries are fantastic. My husband also really likes their General Tsos chicken. Two giant thumbs up with a beaming smile for Angkor! We were rejected from Sarafino's on a busy Friday night despite our good looks (haha) and serendipitously found Angkor. I had heard of Angkor through many raving reviews on the Pittsburgh foodies facebook page so when we passed this joint, I screeched on my brakes. It was surprisingly empty on a Friday night but I could hear the phone off the hook with take-out orders. We were sat immediately and attended to promptly. I didn't expect much but this place had some great reviews. We went and had the Fried Rice with chicken, General Tso's chicken and the Drunkin' Noodles. All of the portions were big enough for two to share so there were a lot of leftovers. I would have rated it a 5 except both the General Tso's chicken and the noodles were listed as two (out of three) for spiciness but were both disappointingly mild. The other issue was the service. There was a "HELP WANTED" sign in the window and boy, did they need it! One guy rushed around to take phone orders, serve food, get drinks, ring up bills and pass out menus to walk-ins. In other words, service was below par and we had to wait a long time for our food to be served. But the food itself was top notch and I would go back again to try some of their Cambodian dishes which you don't see offered in very many Asian restaurants. A wonderful restaurant. Beautifully decorated inside, very classy. Several altars are inside plus giant wood carvings that are stunning. My friend Anne brought me here for lunch. She's gluten-free, so we each got something with no wheat noodles. I got chicken and rice with pineapple sauce and vegetables, which I believe was like the Vietnamese Bun dishes. My friend ordered a dish with lots of vegetables with rice in a lemon grass and coconut milk dressing. I got the jasmine iced tea, which was lovely. And we were each provided with a cup of soup, which was also coconut and lemon grass with mushrooms. Our server was very nice and quiet. We had so much fun having lunch together. Such a hole-in-the-wall location but a hidden gem! We've lived around the block from this place for 7 months and just visited! We had the Na Taings appetizer - so good! I really love good, "authentic" Thai food... I saw good reviews for this place and I noticed that it's got a Cambodian flare, so I gave it a try on a weeknight. Service was excellent! Very friendly, accommodating, and helpful. The venue is beautifully decorated and very nice! The menu is pretty interesting, with many items I had never heard of, so I assumed they might have been Cambodian. I tried their C6, Moarn Chha Kroeung dish, because I love the influence of lemongrass, especially in Thai flavors. I also looked up ahead of time what this dish should look like, which is "pasty" in the texture of the sauce, rather than "saucy" and that showed me it would be pungent and flavorful. What I got when I visited was very saucy and more "American Chinese" style sauce. Flavors were just ok, nothing like what I imagined from looking at the recipe. To go with this, I ordered their Basil Fried Rice, as this is a fav of mine at Thai joints. What I got was wet and sticky, not at all resembling any good fried rice I've ever had. The flavor was decent, with basil infusion, but not spicy at all (which is should be). I will say their spices they give you to kick things up are rather legit! So, you definitely will get the heat you seek here!! I did start with some veggie Tom Yum without mushroom. The broth was nicely done, but the veggie was simply diced tomato, so the soup was literally broth with diced tomato.... Not bad, but not what I expected. Overall, I can see why many would give this place a high rating, the service and atmosphere were great! Flavors are present, but far from bold. But in a town with little "authentic" Asian restaurants (there's only one I know of in Pittsburgh, which is ChengDu Gourmet and only one absolutely amazing new-age Thai, which is Pusadee's Garden), I can see why people might feel what they're doing here is worthy of 5- stars... But for me, I seek more originality and preciseness with the preparation. read more

A wonderful Thai restaurant in the area! It's a bit smaller inside, but there's still plenty of room for tables and we didn't have to wait when we came during the week. Their menu is packed with all the classic Thai dishes, as well as some new unique items I haven't seen before. I ordered the Pad Ke Mow and it was very delicious! The dish comes with freshly made flat noodles, cooked broccoli, onion, carrots, snow peas, bean sprouts and scallions. I was impressed how large the portions were and the large amount of ingredients they packed into it. The stir fry is completed with a deliciously spicy garlic sauce that truly brings the flavor. Only thing that was a bit disappointing was the chicken added into the dish. It was an added cost, but only a few pieces of chicken were included. But the veggies themselves were very flavorful and filling. Overall a great experience and I will be coming back to try more menu items in the future! read more

Angkor is a GEM. Their food is authentic and made with love. You can't go wrong with the fresh spring rolls and curries. I also really love their general tso chicken. I usually stick to the Thai side of the menu, but I have heard wonderful things about the Cambodian food here. I will absolutely have to try it one day. I trust that this place will only serve the best of the best. I am so thankful to have Angkor so close to home. It took me forever to try it out (why? I don't know). Don't hesitate like I did. The last time I reviewed Angkor, it was way back in 2016 (seems like a lifetime ago), so I decided to update my review . . . This is STILL my most favorite Thai / Cambodian restaurant in the entire City of Pittsburgh.  It's still located in the same non-descript strip mall near Greentree/Crafton, but don't let the outside appearance scare you away. Inside, it is very nicely decorated (they actually recently updated with some new artwork), and the food is still excellent.  The Green Curry Noodles are STILL my favorite dish, and I almost hate to order anything else, but when I do, everything I have ever tried has all been good, but I still wished I got the GCN (This dish is unique, and most Thai places don't have anything like it, but almost all have Green Curry Rice, but the noodles to me are what makes this dish pop).  The service is always very friendly, and I have never been disappointed in many, many, many, visits to this location probably spanning 20-30 years (+/-). Things have change a little bit since Covid came, and it seems like this place is never that busy anymore. When I came in for a late lunch yesterday around 12:45 ~ 1:00, they said I was the first customer of the day. Thankfully, by the time I left, there were five other customers besides me. All of the employees still wear masks, but diners are not required to do so. Also, since Covid, they no longer decorate the tables with fresh flowers anymore like they used to do, but the edible veggie garnishes on the side of most dishes are works of art. This place is a hidden gem in the Carnegie/Green Tree/Crafton area! It's one of the best spots to get authentic Cambodian cuisine in Pittsburgh. The service is always friendly, although at more than one occasion we've arrived at the restaurant while it was completely empty and no one is in the front of the store. The last time we visited we had to ring the front bell 3 times before someone came out. It's well worth it though! We got the Na-Taings appetizer that was this delicious stew that you put on a rice cracker. I regret not taking a picture of it because it was so good! This place is such a little gem! We stumbled across it last night around 8pm. There was only one other table there at that time. It's byob and they have a pretty extensive menu to choose from. Our food was out in less than 15 minutes, hot and fresh. My husband ordered the general tso - it was hot and crispy. Something to note, It was a mix of white and dark meat. The food here is solid but unfortunately my last visit ruined all of that for me. I ordered General Tso's chicken and a yellow curry. I asked for chicken AND shrimp with the yellow curry, specifying double protein instead of half and half. When I came to pick it up, my bill was $48.10. I asked if they misunderstood my order and gave me 2 different yellow curries. The young man at the counter told me that the extra charge was for the extra chicken. I looked at the bill and was charged $14 for extra chicken. I asked if I got everything else that comes with the dish as well and he explained loudly in front of the dining room that it was just the chicken. The more we talked, the louder and more condescending he got trying to explain that a portion of chicken should be $14. After about 2 minutes of the conversation going nowhere I paid and left. I got home and all the food looked normal except there was extra chicken in the curry container. There wasn't a 2nd container with the chicken which means any veggies or other ingredients that were normally in the curry container weren't in there to make room for the chicken. For context, I worked in restaurants and catering for years and I order double protein almost all the time when I get takeout. A standard restaurant protein portion is 5 oz. and usually runs somewhere between $3-$5 unless it's a premium item like lobster. (an entire cooked Whole Foods organic rotisserie chicken is $13). But, when you account for some unique dishes, good service, solid standard fare, and reasonable prices, I can suggest a trip to this out-of-the-way restaurant. And while you're waiting for your delicious meal to show up, look around and take in the gorgeous oil paintings and woodcarvings. C6 was unique and delicious. Pad Thai was better than average and the clear lemongrass soups easily warm you up on a cold day. Service was exceptional the night we went. The server took great care to make sure our spice tolerances were considered and no meat or fish sauce made it into our vegetarian dishes. Came here for lunch for the first time. Ordered the shrimp blanket appetizer, green curry with beef, the seafood combo, and banana pudding (which is not on their menu). What's Hot - Menu variety. Something for everyone- veggies, tofu, meat, seafood, rice, noodles, soups, salads, etc... There's Thai, Cambodian, and Chinese on the menu. However, their menu appears to be well balanced between the 3 different Asian cuisines. - Quality. Absolutely delish! Their green curry had a very slight spicy kick. But it's not overwhelming. You can definitely taste the sweetness of the coconut milk in the green curry, as well. However, it's not overpoweringly sweet. The taste is all well balanced, well seasoned, and flavorful. A good amount of veggies balanced with the beef in the green curry, and with the seafood in the seafood combination. There seafood combo had scallops, mussels, shrimp, bell peppers, onion, and bamboo shoots. A good variety of vegetables in the green curry, as well. - Service. Very good service. The food didn't take long to prepare and the waiter/host was attentive. When we asked about the desserts, he went to the kitchen to ask the chef what their dessert of the day was, which was banana pudding. That they're paying attention to this kind of detail during this time (when the pandemic is effecting restaurants) is a detail to be commended. - Healthy and safety. Came here during the pandemic. Originally planned on ordering takeout. However, when we arrived, there were no other customers sitting in the restaurant, so we decided it would be alright to eat in. There were other customers who came, but they were all takeaway orders. Their waiter/host had a mask and wore gloves. I saw hand sanitizer in their bathroom, as well. From what I could see, they are making a good faith effort to abide by health and safety guidelines. - Price. Reasonable, especially given the type of food and the portions. Total was a little under $50 for 2 people, which is pretty good considering that included an appetizer, 2 entrees, and dessert. It's a good tradeoff of portions and prices. Enough to make me full but not stuffed. - Location. Convenient location. It's located in a plaza around other shops and restaurants. There's a decent size parking lot, as well, which is very helpful. Their layout is also pretty good. Enough tables and seats for small parties and it's a comfortable layout. None of the tables and seats are squeezed right next to each other. What's Not - Asian fusion menu. Personally, I'm not an Asian fusion fan. In this area, however, it appears to be popular for Asian restaurants to incorporate multiple Asian cuisines on the menu. I find it confusing, but that's also because I'm very familiar with the various Asian cuisines. That they have Thai, Cambodian, AND Chinese all incorporated in their menu kinda throws me. I haven't eaten at Angkor in years and was in the mood for noodles. The house salad tasted really fresh. I love the fresh mint and the dressing, it was a bit heavy on the onions. The drunken noodles were saucy (had to stir it up) and the right spice (I selected level 3). The sauce has a slightly different flavor than other drunken noodle dishes I have had but I couldn't place the difference.
