I am an innkeeper and consider myself pretty picky when it comes to comfort and cleanliness. When traveling with a dog it isn't always easy to find such nice places to stay. We especially enjoyed the artwork in every room and the upstairs deck where we sat with a bottle of wine and watched the sun set into the ocean. The neighborhood is peaceful and quiet, all you hear is the ocean! The location can't be beat. Cambria is a great town and the elephant seals and Hearst Castle are just minutes to the North. Fun towns and dog-friendly beaches to explore just minutes to the south. We never went more than 15 minutes north or south and we were busy every minute. Elaine could not have been more friendly and helpful. She left us alone to enjoy our romantic getaway but we always knew we could reach her by phone or email if needed. She has put a lot of her love and care into this house. Enjoy!

Needless to say, we were quite disappointed. The room we had was well decorated and clean. Some weird alarm kept me up during the night, but thankfully, it was eventually resolved. The lady at the front desk was very nice and accommodating. However, there were several times we went out to ask questions and there was no one to be found. I would also suggest maybe providing some fresh fruit, in addition to packaged muffins and oatmeal, in the morning.

This property is owned by a company that owns at least four other properties on Moonstone Beach, and shares with them poor customer service. Examples from a recent stay include Wi-Fi that was frequently nonfunctional, and when complaints were made, we were told either that the problem couldn't be fixed, or couldn't be fixed until the next day because no maintenance staff were available. The rooms, lack decor and character, although the bed was very comfortable. When we asked that the waste baskets be emptied at the beginning of the day, we were told that since we did not make that request the night before, it could not be accommodated because of insufficient custodial staff. When I made this request to the manager on duty, she gave me a look as though I had asked her to donate a kidney. We emptied the baskets ourselves. The property has two fire pits, both of which were essentially nonfunctional. Also, the pool was closed. When they ran our credit card on check-in, they actually immediately charged the entire fee for the stay at once. This is an unusual practice, since most similar properties assess the actual charges for the room at checkout. If you were looking for a place to sleep, steps away from the boardwalk on Moonstone Beach, this will fit the bill, but there are a number of better options steps away from this property.

We also stated we had a small dog with us and, if possible, an ocean front room. The booking agent clearly stated the room we would be getting was an accessible ocean front room. As we arrived, our room was definitely ocean front but nothing about the room was remotely handicapped accessible. No bars by the toilet and a step in tub with no safety bars. The front desk worker stated there were no ocean front ADA rooms. They are all located at the back of the property and were all booked. Either the person booking us had no clue about the property or they just wanted to make the sale. This is absolutely unacceptable but we are stuck and have no option other than to make this situation work. Further, the cleanliness of the room for the price we are paying does not match. The bathroom and toilet required an additional cleaning from us prior to using, all surfaces had not been dusted in a very long time. I'm talking about the lamps and bedside tables. Overall, we had done our due diligence, spoken directly with the property and not through a secondary booking site, confirmed with the booking agent what our specific needs were and if they could accommodate them, and were met met with disappointment upon arrival. I would not recommend this place due to the situation above as well as the lack of cleanliness of the room.

I reviewed half of the Yelp reviews now again and there are a large amount of reviewers mentioning the safety concerns of the bathtub not having a safety bar and the ventilation fan is weak, and now I am realizing it is all true. I noticed the tub was slippery when I try to shower first and came back out to put the small nonslip bath mat that was provided under the sink. I have to make sure I only step within the non slip mat and get in and out of the tub slowly to prevent falling and I am young and able! I should have warned my partner when he goes into the shower, because his outcome was a disaster. From how he described the incident, he came out of the shower stepping off the nonslip mat and slipped and fell hitting the edge of the toilet. The bathroom vents are loud and you can hearing it running but I don't think it seems to work because the mirror was still steamy. The bathtub wall and tub of course stays wet longer as well I assumed. I just want to write this review for the future travelers to be careful, and I do hope the hotel management will consider installing safety bars after reading the reviews. I did read reviews before picking this hotel and saw the tub and vent reviews, but at the time I would never think this could happen to us. I have yet to think how to request an incident report with hotel staff yet as I am still waiting in the hospital for my partner to get stitches on his head. We checked in the hotel around 8pm and the incident happened around 10:30pm, so we don't have much time in the room to write about other amenities of the hotel. One thing stood out to us is when checking in the front desk mentioned twice she did not get to take her break time. I hope management read this to give the front desk an extra hand for breaks!
