I gave this place 5 stars because, overall, they truly deserve it, but I'll start with a few…read morenegatives. I called multiple times over two days to confirm we were bringing our dog and never got an answer. you do have to leave a voicemail and they will return call. There is no AC unit, which may be an issue for some guests. especially for hotter days and the room does not have cross wind/circulating windows, Also, the booking photos show a sliding glass door to the beach (Hotel.com needs to update photos), but the hotel is actually across the street. Our window faced the water, but it's not a direct walk-out beach property. Now for the positives, the staff (all of them) were amazing. The rooms are bungalow-style and very clean and spacious. The hotel is pet-friendly $100 fee, and check-in/check-out was easy. The check-in area feels cozy and homey, with couches, chairs, books, and games available. They offer beer, wine, adult beverages (Adult options for your coffee), plus a kitchen and outdoor fireplace sitting area. The hotel is directly across the street from the beach, about a 2-min walk to the water. The room was large and well-stocked with a mini fridge (fees may apply), huge comforters, bathrobes, slippers, a fan, fireplace, shower supplies such as body wash, shampoo, and conditioner, and a sitting chair. There are many additional amenities available for a fee in the room and in their lobby area. In the morning, they deliver a basket with pastries croissants, cinnamon rolls, coffee, orange juice, and champagne, a really nice touch. They also have bikes you can use and go bike riding, corn hole games, picnic benches, There's also an ice maker on-site. Parking spaces are small, so be cautious if you have a lifted truck or wide rims. The area itself is very nice. The hotels along the coastline are set up similarly, facing north and south, so most have somewhat obstructed or no ocean views or direct walk-on beach access. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place, Hotel cost wasn't too bad but remember all the hotels in this area do not have walk out beach rooms. Area is very quiet, relaxing, and peaceful, and EVERYONE is pet friendly even with a pitbull breed. Our kids had a blast in the ocean and were able to play board games eat ice cream and enjoy the scenery. there are several benches along the walk path in case you need to sit down and relax. There is small community town about 15min tops. several restaurants and shopping. old town style, very homey. so, if you're looking for a disconnect type of vacation, no party scene, just want peaceful and relaxation, this is the place. I will attach pictures and I do apologize because these were at the end of the trip and not when we first arrived. so, excuse the beds. The hotel was very clean and have hardwood floors.

LOVE the Aesop products in the room!!! a few downside during my stay were: the few times i went to the front desk, the "out of office" sign was up each time. i wanted to rent a bike to bike around the town, no one was around to assist. i waited about 10-15m each time. they have a fire pit that was on the entire time. i heard they provide s'more kits, but we were not provided with any. there isnt really any pet relief area on site. also, all units do not have AC, only fans. i had no service while i was there. i literally was on SOS. i actually loved it. don't worry, there is wifi avail! i would def book white water again!

Bathroom had a huge mirror with fantastic lighting around the rim. Husband enjoyed the free fresh brewed coffee from the lobby on one of the outdoor benches. When we came back after being away for the day, our place was not cleaned! I went to the front office and asked to have our place cleaned. The person at the desk, at the time 2:30 pm, told me we did not request the room cleaned because we were not on the hand written lined paper list. I told him that was not true as the person grabbed the paper when we checked in and wrote our room and time to be cleaned. The pool, not working and empty. The hot tub had too much chemicals and my skin itched like crazy. I stayed here many years ago and was always greeted with a friendly voice and granted early and late access even when I would pay. I will never stay here again. Maybe the people are not gay friendly... not sure. Bye, bye! Next....

A very cozy boutique hotel right on Moonstone Beach…read more I love staying here for three main reasons: the oceanfront location, the in-room hot tub, and the fact that my dogs are welcome. A handful of the bungalow-style rooms feel wonderfully private and come with their own patios, giving our pups a sunny spot to lounge. It's perfect for us. The beach sits directly across the street, and you can walk to a few nearby restaurants. Hearst Castle is only seven miles away. The suite we book has a partial ocean view, fireplace, and a whirlpool tub right in the bedroom. It's incredibly romantic. Amenities include continental breakfast, parking, and WiFi. If you're traveling with pets, there's a $75 non-refundable fee. If I had to point out an area for improvement, it would be updating all the rooms as some feel fresher than others. Even so, our stays are very comfortable, and I feel safe here. A big plus: the pet friendly rooms have no odor whatsoever.

We stayed at Cambria Landing Inn for two nights and unfortunately left pretty disappointed…read more Check-in is at FogCatcher Inn, where there was only one woman working the front desk for multiple properties. We did have to wait because she was constantly helping other guests and answering phone calls, but I want to make it clear that she was wonderful. She was incredibly kind, patient, and professional despite being pulled in every direction. It honestly seemed like she was doing the job of several people, and I felt bad for how overwhelmed she was. When we got to our room, the first thing we noticed was the incredible ocean view. It was beautiful and definitely the best part of our stay. Unfortunately, the room itself was a different story. It had a very strong musty smell that made it feel old and unclean, and there were several stains on the carpet. To make things even more surprising, there was a live lizard in our room when we first walked in. We love animals, so we carefully caught it and let it back outside, but it's definitely not something you expect to find in your hotel room. That evening, after taking a shower, the humidity caused what looked like a blood stain near the top of the shower curtain to become visible. Neither of us had been bleeding, and it was nowhere near where either of us would have touched, so it was pretty disturbing. By that point the front desk had already closed, and knowing how busy the woman at check-in had been all day, we decided to just avoid using that side of the curtain instead of bothering anyone. We had dinner next door, which was excellent, and our server was fantastic. The location of the hotel really is hard to beat. After dinner we brought a few drinks back to our room, but when we opened the refrigerator we found someone else's leftover lemon bar along with drinks that had expired in November 2025. That was honestly the moment everything else clicked. It made us seriously question how well the rooms are cleaned between guests. Later that night we wanted to make tea before bed, but the hot water station was empty. The next morning we mentioned it to the front desk and asked if someone could refill it later that evening before it ran out again. Instead, we were told that we'd just have to call once it was empty because it usually runs out by 7 p.m. That response was frustrating because we were trying to be proactive and avoid having to call later. For a hotel that's close to $300 a night, I don't think that's an unreasonable expectation. The second evening we did end up calling because one of the fire pits wouldn't light. Maintenance came out within about 10 minutes, got it working right away, and was incredibly friendly and helpful. That was one of the better customer service experiences we had during our stay. There were definitely some positives. The location is amazing, the ocean views are beautiful, the fire pits are a nice place to relax in the evening, and every member of the housekeeping staff we interacted with was incredibly kind. They were happy to chat, offered recommendations, and genuinely made us feel welcome. We also really appreciated being given a complimentary one-hour late checkout, which gave us time to enjoy one last walk along the coast before leaving. Overall, the employees we interacted with were friendly and helpful, but the cleanliness and condition of the room simply didn't match the price. Between the musty smell, stained carpet, lizard, questionable shower curtain, leftover food and expired drinks in the refrigerator, and other small issues throughout our stay, we wouldn't choose to stay at Cambria Landing Inn again. It's a beautiful location, but the rooms need much more attention and better quality control.

I am writing this review as I have time in the hospital emergency room waiting for my partner to…read moreget care for his injury from falling in the hotel bathtub. I reviewed half of the Yelp reviews now again and there are a large amount of reviewers mentioning the safety concerns of the bathtub not having a safety bar and the ventilation fan is weak, and now I am realizing it is all true. I noticed the tub was slippery when I try to shower first and came back out to put the small nonslip bath mat that was provided under the sink. I have to make sure I only step within the non slip mat and get in and out of the tub slowly to prevent falling and I am young and able! I should have warned my partner when he goes into the shower, because his outcome was a disaster. From how he described the incident, he came out of the shower stepping off the nonslip mat and slipped and fell hitting the edge of the toilet. The bathroom vents are loud and you can hearing it running but I don't think it seems to work because the mirror was still steamy. The bathtub wall and tub of course stays wet longer as well I assumed. I just want to write this review for the future travelers to be careful, and I do hope the hotel management will consider installing safety bars after reading the reviews. I did read reviews before picking this hotel and saw the tub and vent reviews, but at the time I would never think this could happen to us. I have yet to think how to request an incident report with hotel staff yet as I am still waiting in the hospital for my partner to get stitches on his head. We checked in the hotel around 8pm and the incident happened around 10:30pm, so we don't have much time in the room to write about other amenities of the hotel. One thing stood out to us is when checking in the front desk mentioned twice she did not get to take her break time. I hope management read this to give the front desk an extra hand for breaks!

What this place DOES Have going for it:…read more (1) Great location -- across the street from south end of Moonstone Beach boardwalk. (2) A little less than half a mile from what seems to be the one and only restaurant along the beach. (3) most delicious quick breads as part of the free continental breakfast. (4) spotless "tiled" floors, it's some sort of fake wood, not sure, but in any case, it's not dirty disgusting carpet (5) cute fireplace--and for that reason it seems like a great place to stay during the winter FYI: refrigerator is hidden in cabinet below the TV! Things I wish I'd known before I booked: (1) no air conditioner, (2) $15/day extra if you want Wifi fast enough to stream video or work on laptop with MS Office; (3) no full length mirror, (5) no true protein macro at "complimentary continental breakfast". Cambria in general is a small, quiet town with beautiful boardwalk along the beach. Cambria doesn't seem to have a great food scene. Nor does it have a legit grocery store. But perhaps I didn't search hard enough ... WiFi connection was an issue for me.

Really enjoyed the complimentary wine with ocean view and one of my biggest reasons for booking it was due to they accept dogs, which says a lot about an establishment. That being said, there are areas for improvement. When I checked into my room, I noticed that the the dark blinds were stuck so I went to the office to see if they could help. The manager came to my room; tried to lower them and agreed they were stuck. She said she would ask the maintenance person to fix it. A day went by and nobody came by. I was awoken to a bright room early in the morning so my sleep was cut short. I went back the office and the same manager welcomed me with "yeah, what's up"? I highlighted that nobody came by to fix it and she seemed pretty indifferent but said she would request it again. Needless to say, nobody showed up to fix it during my whole stay so I was greeted with shortened sleep thanks to the bright room in the mornings. While I was checking out, I highlighted this to the new manager and she laughed it off, saying that's why she brings blindfolds when she travels. No discount offer or anything. Furthermore, their door key cards are the most sensitive I have ever encountered. I had to have them reprogrammed 3 times during my stay. Also, the owner apparently requested that they close the wine tasting early due to rain so, when I showed up to use my complimentary wine vouchers, I found it closed over an hour earlier than their posted closing time but the server did provide me with the complimentary wine since I was a guest but they were no longer offering food so no marinated olives and nuts to go with it. That being said, the Inn does have a great location; is a value and I love that it is dog-friendly but they do need to work on their customer service. Oh and some more Vegan options and recycling/compost bins would certainly help.

You had to go channel by channel and hope to find it out of many channels. By the way, the remote they gave You wasn't a Spectrum remote? We even went to the office for help. They couldn't make it work. I wasn't here to watch TV of course but When it's dark, breezy and in the 50ies outside a nice sitcom before bed is sometimes nice. 3. This morning we went to get a cup of coffee at 8:05am. Coffee is supposed to be available @ 7am. Not open. 5 other guests were waiting patiently. Could we ask the office? No it wasn't open either. It finally opened at 8:10am. 4. Oh by the way, bring your sunglasses for Your room. The only lighting is spot lights in the ceiling. Nothing you can control from bed side. Were there any dimmers to adjust the lighting down from solar flare to reasonable. Nope. Just the palm of my hand or sunglasses. Again By the way, the Cambria area is awesome with some great wholesome dining experiences. Linn's and Robin's. Wow! We've stayed along Moonstone over the years. Just never @ the Cambria Shores Inn. Guess what? Never again because there are lots of choices along Moonstone. I'd like to rate it a 1 star. But, Mother Nature helped take the feeling of total disappointment away. Every time We strolled down the Moonstone board walk across the street it melted Our disappointment away. For a while. What a beautiful Ocean front.
